This is at least the 5th or 6th ACV thread I've seen since the new year. Big Vinegar is really making a push in 2017...

I see seven threads on vinegar this month but the search result doesn't capture this one, so there were probably more.

This one was spelled wrong. Probably happened other times, too.

If you want to lose weight just eat fewer calories than you need to maintain your current weight.

What is it supposed to do OP?

What? On its own? Never heard of it and I'll never cease to be amazed at the crazy diets I hear coming out... be careful but as @VintageFeline says... why are you doing it if you don't want to? Life is short. Read the getting started posts. Enjoy your life :)

It's not a diet, it's been around for many years and balances your gut bacteria. Has done wonders for me.

Balance what gut bateria though? I dont think there really has been any scientic evidence to support that. And it assumes that the current bateria you have is bad. Dont get me wrong gut bateria changes as you change your diet but that doesn't mean it would make it better.

Don't get me wrong if you enjoy it by all means but i dont think most of the claims are substantiated.

Op, addressing calories in vs out while eating nutrient dense foods for energy and satiety is what is important. Not eating or drinking a concoction.

I take medicine for various things and it messes with my gut bacteria along with being gluten sensitive. My body can and will tell me when things are screwy. Not everyone is healthy like most out there. As for what ever claims are out there about scientific evidence goes I can't help that really. I just know what it has done for me.

As I said earlier probiotics. Why aren't byou taking them? They work way better than acv.

OP, I'm not sure why you are doing this. What you typed out does however help with migraines. The honey is strictly to help stomach the vinegar. ACV is an overall anti-inflammatory and is good for the body in moderation. But I've never used it for weight loss.

Where are all these vinegar ideas coming from??

Make sure your probiotic is designed to survive your stomach acid so it can get to the small intestine where the bacteria is useful

Ick. I'm not trying to sound mean, but how would that cause you to lose weight? What's the actual mechanism?

I drink one tbls. every single night, then guzzle one cup of room temp water right after...

I don't have an opinion one way or the other ACV, except to say it tastes awful. BUT - to anyone considering taking it but please be careful.

ACV is very acidic and if you take it straight, even if you follow with a glass of water, you could still wind up with long-term mouth and throat damage. Just dilute it in that glass of water. Then drink more water, because it also can damage your tooth enamel over time.

    Probiotics are a better option

I agree and every GI specialist my wife sees would agree. And she has seen a lot over that past few years.

I had "gut" issues and tried everything under the sun INCLUDING probiotics. Never worked. Didnt even make a dent. Found apple cider vinegar cure online and tried that. Two days later I was cured. After two years of issues, I finally had none. And it lasts for months at a time. Which is good cause OMG that is NASTY!! It said to do it every day. I got three days in and QUIT. However, if the issues start to come back, I choke down a tbs of it again and im back to being cured. So either it works and doctors dont want to admit that it does (cant make money off the healthy).. OR.. My gut is trembling in a corner in terror at the idea I will abuse it again with that vile stuff. For weight loss, that is just a ridiculous idea unless bulimia is the persons goal! Then yeah.. id say a person can lose weight vomiting up everything they just ate. But we cant cure stupid!

There are several members who have reported that it has helped with upset stomachs and acid reflux. Others it has done the opposite and caused issues. Hell, when my stomach is upset, i drink coke.

Like i said, if it works then great but i wouldnt suggest that it alters gut bacteria until the science can confirm such a thing. Heck, with my wifes conditions there is a lot of anecdotal evidence that there are reactions to gluten and lactose but they havent developed techiques nor methods to test gluten sensitivities current. So anecdotes is all we have current and personal testing.

And if you don't want to take probiotic pills add fermented foods life Kefir.

I do not support the drinking of vinegar but apple cider vinegar is in itself a 'fermented food' so I don't really understand this counter argument.

The only thing I can think of is that it makes you feel too sick to eat?

Just have vinegar on a salad if you want to add it into your diet. Use probiotics to improve gut bacteria.
