Success/struggles of the week: Maintaining OK. This whole month has been a struggle to keep up with my gym schedule (missed a cardio workout) but still managing. Hoping next month slows down with appointments. I sure wish there was more time in the day to get everything done, ugh!5 -

Name: Shelley
Starting weight: 296.5 pounds
Total weight lost: 147 pounds
Time it took to lose: 999 days
How long in maintenance: 42 days
Maintenance range: 149-154
1/2/17 150.6
1/9/17 151
1/16/17 151.9
1/23/17 151.2
Success/Struggle for the week: saw the scale number 149.5 on Thursday, which meant I was getting a handle on the extra salt and carbs. Looking back on my weight records, Monday's are nearly always my heaviest. Not much struggle this last week-just one day where I was badly craving sweets. I wonder what prompts those cravings?
It's going to be a sunny week here in Portland so I'm excited to know I'll get lots of outdoor activity-may even get my bike out and go for a nice long ride! Power on my maintenance friends! We all worked so hard to get to our goal, let's KEEP IT UP!6 -

Time it took to lose: 10 months to original goal + lost for about 5 months after reaching that goal.

16th January: 128.8
23rd January: 125.4

Success/Struggle for the week: I dropped down below my maintenance range. I guess I am still struggling to find my maintenance calories. If I eat what mfp gives me plus my fitbit adjustment then I still lose weight. My fitbit says I average about 1850 per day burn, but if I eat that much I lose weight. I guess I need to up my calories some more. But then I keep showing that I am over my calorie goal and it just messes with my head. Maybe I need to just unsync my fitbit and set a TDEE goal. But I really like using the Neat method and eating more when I'm more active.6 -

Oh! Me too. I had to set MFP to gain 0.5 lbs a week because I hated seeing the red. It wasn't until I did this I actually started maintaining instead of losing while eating my Fitbit adjustment. Now leaving 80ish calories uneaten everyday is just right and it feels better than going red by 170.

I may have to try that. My original goal was 135 and when I dropped down to 130 and even 128 I was ok with that, but I think that 125 is starting to get a little too low for me.0 -
My name is Irina.
Starting weight 220 lbs.
Current 151 lbs.
Took about 8 months to lose
Maintaining for 2 months
Would like to stay within 148-153 lbs range for now. Maybe eventually try to go down a little more or aim for recomp.
January 2nd -152 lbs
January 9th - 150.8 lbs
January 16th - 152.2 lbs
January 23rd - 152.2 lbs
Success / struggles of the week: the lowest number i saw last week was 150 lbs, yeah, would likw to see more of those. Nothing new, trying to work on getting enough sleep, although had to get up a 3.30am to take my daughter to the airport. That made for a tough rest of the day. Also, i find it difficult to find time to exercise now, but happy that I've managed a nice ride over the weekend.5 -

Ooops but it was expected. Funnily I'm not too bothered about it. I know what I need to do. Need to put a stop to the trend before it gets out of hand.
Why am I feeling postive and good about it whhhhyyyyy??? The past month I've been miserable when I was maintaining well. Anywhoooo. I shall put this positive energy in to good use. I must end the the month well!!5 -
@kgirlhart and @TangledThread I, too overshot my goal and kept losing for quite a while and about 15 pounds. After a year of trying everything, well, a lot of things, to gain some of the weight back, I gave up. I have found my "me" weight. I am a couple of pounds underweight, according to the ever popular BMI, but my doctor is ok with it and so am I, finally. You, too, will find your happy place. Best wishes to you both.2

Total loss 32 pounds
Time it took - 9 months
Original goal 126 lbs
First time hit goal - october 2014
Weight January 2015 - 132 lbs
Weight january 2016 - 131 lbs
Weight Today, 127 (but holding some bloat, libra ap is trending at 125 lbs)
Maintenance range - 124-130 lbs
Notes: I spent ALL of 2015 chasing the same 5-6 lbs and making myself crazy/sick obsessing over them.
Then i discovered pole at end of Jan 2016, discovered i LOVED the workout and the body positivity the classes promoted. Stopped obsessing, stopped logging (still logged periodically, but not daily) and by june i was sat at 124 lbs (with the muscles i'd always wanted!) fast forward to august and i broke my arm badly, sat down for 3 months (no work, no exercise bar a little walking and ate a lot of cake...) but luckily didn't gain that much but lost 90% of my lovely muscles.
Fast forward to today, i'm back on the pole, back building my strength, back at classes and back in the groove. I weighed higher this week as i had the go ahead from physio to do whatever I felt i could, weight bearing wise so i've really pushed my body the last 2 weeks and i'm retaining a lot of water in my sore muscles but ooooooh it feels goooooooood! Not aiming for any more weight loss, just get them jiggly bits back to muscle like they were!5 -

This month has been a struggle and I'm now slightly over my maintenance range. ugh. Definitely not a fan of that, but glad to have this thread so that it's front and center in my mind. This week I had the stomach flu and indulged in too many carbs as that was all that sounded good. Add in some pizza and ice cream, and I am where I am. Confident some of it is water as carbs are not my friend, but at some point that excuse wears thin. So I'm hitting it hard and the number will be firmly in my range soon. Hope you are all doing well!4 -

Total Weight lost: 70 lbs
Time it took to lose: 2+ years... but only about a year once I actually got serious about it.
How long in maintenance: 2.5 years
Maintenance weight range: 125 to 135 (wide range, I know, but it works for me... usually)
Weigh in..
28DEC16: 139 lbs
04JAN: 137 lbs
11JAN: 137 lbs again
18JAN: 136 lbs
25JAN: 136 lbs again
Success/struggles of the week: This week's struggle has been keeping my eating in check. I was near or over my normal maintenance calories most days this week. I think part of the problem with the eating has to do with this week's success, though: I've been getting out and running most days AND I'm working on a resistance training program. In spite of the scale not moving as much as I wish it would (even though I know that my current progress is awesome and exactly as expected), my clothes are fitting better and better.

Name: Sara
Total Weight lost: 50ish pounds
Time it took to lose: 6 months + a few months of slower loss as I transitioned into maintenance
How long in maintenance: 3+ years
Maintenance weight range: I've gone back into a short weight loss phase to get this down to 125lbs-130lbs
Week of...
2nd January: 132lbs
9th January: 131.6lbs
16th January: 130.8
23rd January: 130.8
30th January:
Success/struggles of the week: Funny to see the exact same weight on the scale this morning as I saw last week! Tom is going on so I'm usually up several pounds but I think that's been offset by me being sick and most likely dehydrated. We're moving out next Thursday/Friday so this bug better be done sooner than later (whole family has it sigh...).1 -
Total Weight lost: 85lbs
Time it took to lose: 9 months
How long in maintenance: 2.5yrs
Maintenance weight range: 165-170lbs (6' M)
Week of...
2nd January: 173.2lbs
9th January: 170.4lbs
16th January: 170.4lbs
23rd January: 167.8lbs
30th January:
Success/struggles of the week: Data mining and logging diligently. Seem to have shed some fat and water weight I was holding since Dec.
Quite happy with the trend. I really enjoy having MFP premium (although expensive) as it allows me to easily data mine. Found out I was eating too much for my winter activity pattern (mostly large oatmeal and chicken breast portions). Reducing them significantly has made it easier to not exceed and even go lower than my goal by a bit.
I really respond to eating a low (250-300) calorie breakfast. If I eat a larger one I seem to crave food more throughout the day.
Just need to keep on rhythm now and figure out macro timing around my mid day workouts when doing intense cardio. Seem to get really ravenous in the afternoon but don't like eating much before working out so need to work on the post recovery meal program.

How long in maintenance: I declared it at 140 last January, but that was too high for a petite lady. So not really in maintenance quite yet.
Maintenance weight range: Would like to stay under 125 at morning weigh-in. Was down to 126.4 after a month of pre-Holiday dieting, but am back up to 127.3 on TrendWeight today.
Week of...
2nd January: 127.2lbs
9th January: 127lbs
16th January: 126.4lbs
23rd January: 126.6lbs
30th January:
Success/struggles of the week: Total panic bingeing over the holidays. I still need to learn to trust my body cues, be content with eating just enough, and stop asking food to be more than just fuel.
Same struggles. Life after work is just filled with getting steps and eating food. Really need to make peace with having fewer cals to work with. Contentment and an attitude of gratitude (and maybe a hobby) are the order of the day.
Struggles remain the same, though I have recovered from my cold and started working out again. So for my attitude of gratitude moment today, I am grateful for my good health!

I've been working on exercise and not just diet...thankfully because my food choices were not all stellar this week. Excited to actually a feel a little muscle tone (I'm probably imagining it this soon, but who cares!), and excited for what this year will bring! I had to help with a demo at work and part of it was lifting something...I couldn't lift it AT ALL...they thought I was joking. Tired of being weak...next time I'll be ready!!2 -

Oh good luck Sarah - not sure how I'd be able to handle fasting all day either0

Hi all! Checking in for this week:
30th December (for ref): 144lbs
6th January: 143.2lbs
13th January: 140.0lbs
20th January: 141.0lbs
27th January: 140.2lbs
Success/struggles of the week: Missed my run and one workout this week due to parents evenings etc, so I'm really happy to still be on target. (Even though I've been successfully maintaining for around 7 months now it's still a relief at the end of each week to find that I haven't put loads of weight back on!).
But my biggest success this week? I'm up to 120lbs on the leg press and 60lbs on the triceps machine! WOO-HOO!

Question????
I found this thread very motivating. Thankyou all for joining. I was wondering if you would like to continue. We can either:
- continue the thread as it
- Start a new thread for February and every month from there on
- Or stop

So I felt my heart beat rapidly when I saw that I had gained two pounds. Even though it is still five pounds below my maintenance range.
This maintenance stuff may in some ways be more difficult than losing. I felt like I needed to try and lost that two pounds when in reality I really don't need to because I'm still in my range. I did review my diary and nothing was outrageous. The sensible side of me knows that weight fluctuates and I shouldn't expect to be the exact same weight every time but there is this littke voice of doubt ...
So until next week..1
