Short girls under 5'5 trying to loose weight?

I am 5'2 and overweight. I need to loose at least another 30 pounds. (10 down so far) I know that weight does look different on shorter girls than more average to taller girls. Anyone else going through the same thing? And does anyone have any success stories from using this site?

Hi 5'3" here and on a mission to lose 10 myself. Your'e right. We carry weight differently. For me, it's around my waist and upper *kitten*. Haha. I wanted to push a tall (less thin) woman off a treadmill today because her weight at least looked more distributed. Teasing, but you catch my drift.
If I can help support, I'm all ears.
What's your food + workout plan like?

5'3 and 84 lbs to go! But hey, it was 114 when I started!31

I am 1.59m (5'3) Been going for 3 years. Trying to get to my goal weight. Currently at my previous (4th goalweight) I have 3kg to loose left, but already lost at least 20 kg5

I'm 5'3 and have about 20 to lose. I remember in college when I would gripe about my weight, one of my friends would say, you would look fine if you were a bit taller. Ugh! But yes, we do hold our weight differently, and often, a couple of pounds can look like a lot more than it would on a taller frame. Fight the good fight!8

I'm 5'2'' and have about 15 more pounds to lose. The frustrating thing for me in relation to my height is that my friends who are taller can eat more simply because of their height. I know life isn't fair and I am dealing but yeah I think about it at times.4

I love finding this thread! I'm 5' (almost) and "top heavy." lol. It's definitely a different kind of struggle. I'm down 40 and have about another 40-45 to go. Halfway...woohoo! This site and my friends on it have been encouraging and motivating. Feel free to add me!15

I'm not trying to lose weight. I am losing weight. 5'3 and down 45 pounds since September with at least another 90 to go. I have to stay active or the dieting part feels super restrictive. Short sedentary women don't get to eat barely anything. I did 1200 calories my first two months but got tired of being hungry and got bored with low-calorie food. I eat 1500 to 2000 calories a day now and lose as long as I get in activity most days. Currently I'm running and lifting. I run programs and stick to a schedule which helps motivate me. I'd say I put most of my mental energy on working out because I enjoy it and just focus on tracking and not eating entire batches of cookies where it comes to food.15

I'm 5'3 , well actually 5'2 and a half (that half makes a difference lol) and have the same problem! I'm at 163 right now hoping to get down to 135 but the lowest I've ever seen on the scale in recent years is 149. I get it all in my belly (love handles) and can't even wear a fitted shirt without looking like I have a whale belly haha
If anyone wants to add me, please feel free! I would love to connect with some people who have open diaries, it's great for ideas and motivation! I'm on here again after over a year and want to get healthy, eat better and lost weight for a vacation coming up in April14 -
5'1 barely and looking to lose 20-25 lbs. 5-10 lb gain or loss really does show on us shorties

I'm not going through the same thing but I'm just an inch taller than you at 5'3" and since I started consistently logging and exercising back at the beginning of September I've lost about 6/7 pounds (I started at 127 but I had my weight on here set to 125, and now I'm 119). It's definitely a bit difficult sometimes since the shorter you are the less calories you can have in order to maintain or lose weight, but if you're consistent with it, it will come off.
Yes shorter girls or guys carry weight so much different then men do.1 -
5'3 56lbs GONE 64 more to go !19

Lol, i feel the same way. Taller woman carry weigh so much more porportionate than us. Sometimes it makes me upset. No matter what i have always had this pooch of mine. And my workout is 2 times a day . One 3 mile walk at lunch and then another workout after work for about an hour to an hour and a half. And yes you can add me as well as i am open to new friends and motivation4 -

That's great! i think any small progress is still progress. It's just getting through those days or weeks when you don't loose anything but you still have to stay on track with your diet and excersise2 -
4'10" (so, I'm jealous of all of you over 5'0!) and looking to lose 30+ lbs. Currently at 157, goal 125. It is so hard to eat only 1200 calories a day. I sit at a desk all day so in order to not have to starve, I've put a mini- stationary cycle under my desk and pedal when I can! It adds up: about an hour of an 8 hour day of pedaling! I did lose 10 lbs before using MFP but gave up after some family issues. I keep my diary open (don't always eat clean and I'm a big fan of beer, so don't follow if you intend to judge, lol) but feel free to add me! It's great to see others reaching their goals and motivate one another!13

I am exactly like you! Even the half and that counts. The last couple of weeks I managed to nudge it down to 159 by reducing plate sizes but it has been hard. The lowest I remember seeing is 140 and that is what I aspire to. Unfortunately my weigh is seen in my legs (ugh) and stomach. I just added you! Let's hope 2017 brings us the 140!1 -
I am 5ft 3.5in tall and I fave with the same obstacle. To others I am proportionate but I feel otherwise. I want to lose 40lbs. My weight is stomach and boobs.1

5'3 and trying to lose about 50 lbs. just restarted this journey, but lost 2 lbs this week, so I'm feeling pumped! We got this, ladies!9

So inspiring ladies... Do any of you have a problem with staying on track on the weekends? For me that's the hardest with staying on track.5

The app cut off like 90% of what I wrote... I might try again later.0

That happens to me a lot.. I get so frustrated. lol0

I definitely have a hard time on the weekends. My boyfriend and I are in an LDR and we only see each other on the weekends. I don't like to waste my time cooking, so inevitably we go out and eat most meals. He is also super skinny and needs to eat about twice as much as I do. He's very supportive, but the weekends are always tough.0 -
Yes, i have the same problem. My boyfriend is skinny and a rail and can eat almost anything he wants and won't gain a pound. Me, i eat a big meal and there's a pound. On the weekends his mom likes to do big cookouts and she's from the south which means almost everything is fried or has butter in it. lol . I am vegetarian for the last 2 weeks so it isn't as hard but i still have a hard time staying away from the mac and cheese or the dressing. I haven't cheated this week because when i do cheat one time i tend to loose focus because i think it's a big deal0

5'2 but I've got the saddlebags of a much taller cowboy, haha
My "goal" is 105 but I use quotations because I honestly don't think it will happen. Not being defeatist, just that I know I don't have the drive and sheer strength of will to get that tight. I'm at 125 now, and it's honestly fine, it's my body comp I need to work on - much too soft/weak. Thank god for Spanx!
My lowest weight using MFP was 118. I looked good! but felt miserable. Too much time working out and worrying about macros, not enough time enjoying sleeveless shirts.4 -
Hi. I'm 5' and this is my 2nd time using this site. First time I was very successful I lost 60lbs (then it put me under weight) decided to delete my old account and got comfortable and I gained about half my weight back0
-
Yes it is hard. Once you get to that goal weight you think you can start eating anything you want2
-
Here here! I just readjusted my macro goals so I can really start to make a dent in this scale--ahem... I mean in the readings on the scale. I actually GAINED weight in the past couple of months, so I'm trying to get more active throughout the day--I'd love to walk a mile at lunch, but I think I'll have to settle for a little less (have to drive 20 minutes, eat, then another 20 minute drive). Good that you're actually making it happen! I want to run in the morning--anybody else have any advice on how to grow 5:00 a.m. willpower? LOL! Feel free to add me!6
-
Yup I agree... Its much harder for us shorties. I'm 5'nothing and have the same issues. Even an extra 5 pounds sure shows!3
