WHY IS IT THAT YOU ALWAYS FIND THE GOOD NEW FLAVORS FIRST ITS NOT FAIR FIRST HALO TOP AND NOW THIS WHAT STORE WAS THIS???? OK SERIOUSLY THAT RED VELVET GET THAT RED VELVET NOW AND TELL ME HOW IT COMPARES TO HALO TOP.
I find it funny how Halo Top's newer pints have calories closer to the Enlightened's older pints and Enlightened is releasing newer flavors similar in calories to Halo Top's older pints haha what gives? xD
Did you see any of their other new releases?
Bananas Foster, Cold Brew Coffee, and probably Brownie Batter (based upon their flavor reveal yesterday)?
I'm loving all these new ice cream releases!
And those carrot cake donuts look amazing.
I can't tell if I'm excited because of all these new things or because I had way too much caffeine. I tried McDonald's new shamrock iced mocha today and it's so delicious. Honestly it tasted like a sweeter version of their peppermint mocha, but I'm ok with that :')6 -
Dave's killer bread is really good and filling to me.
How does the enlightened pints taste- does it compare to halo top? I know arctic zero is Yucky to me- In my little town we only get one flavor of the enlightened ice cream bars- NO halo top- and all different flavors of arctic zero- ( go figure)1 -
Dave's killer bread *is* awesome! I can only have it on occasion, though--the macros aren't good for me.
I think Enlightened is at least comparable, if not better, than Halo Top. They have an Oatmeal Chocolate Swirl-flavor that is out of this world.2 -

those look like fairway price signs to me but not 100%0 -

If you don't like Arctic Zero don't worry, Enlightened is NOTHING like it; I actually give Arctic Zero credit though with their cookie dough pint as that has so many mix-ins, it's just their base that needs work. Anywho, Enlightened's pints have more calories than Halo Top (most flavors were around 400 calories compared to Halo Top's older pints which were usually 280 or less). Halo Top is very creamy, and their newer pints with mix-ins aren't all that generous. Halo Top tastes phenominal, but their newer pints are hit or miss (for example, cookies & cream was a major hit for me but their red velvet significantly let me down). Halo Top has a salted caramel flavor and the caramel is AMAZING, but only exists as a small glob that doesn't persist throughout the pint.
Enlightened, on the other hand, I find I have to thaw out a little longer but it also very creamy and has a base that's as flavorful as Halo Top, but their mix-ins are more comparable to Ben & Jerry's in that there's A TON of them! Time will tell how their newer pints hold up since they seem to be cutting the caloric content (I assume it will be more like the creamier Halo Top flavors without mix-ins), but Enlightened is definitely strong in their swirl game. The Triple Chocolate pint and Frozen Hot Cocoa pints have swirls which are slightly gritty, super sweet, and might make you tear up a little over how long you've lived without having it. The Oatmeal Cookie, again, fantastic and blows Halo Top's version out of the water; plenty of caramel and cookie pieces! The Cookie Dough flavor is very comparable to Halo Top, honestly I keep confusing them and I can't remember which brand I like more, they're both remarkable but Halo Top's version is less calories so I give them credit and would buy it more if Enlightened wasn't a dollar less where I live than Halo Top. The Mint Chocolate Chip is good, but I'm not crazy about it because it doesn't have any swirls of chocolate or anything; again, it could be compared to the mint Halo Top but it's green instead of white and has more calories. The Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Enlightened is (in my opinion) the one with the least flavor and is very boring, but again, chocolate chips aren't all that appealing to me and I feel as if they get in the way when I want swirls of chocolate or peanut butter instead! Lastly, the salted caramel Enlightened is very generous with their caramel swirls and I really enjoy it, but this one would definitely rank the highest for me as having the most artificial taste to it since the caramel might taste chemically to those who aren't as used to some of the sweeteners used.
Therefore, I don't favor one brand over the other, I love both and each have their strengths/weaknesses! Usually I stock up on both depending which happens to be on sale, but Shoprite still doesn't have the newer Halo Top flavors so sometimes I'll drive to Wegmans and splurge $5.99 to satisfy that cookies & cream craving I get so often! I'm disappointed one of Enlightened's newer flavors wasn't cookies & cream, perhaps they didn't even want to compete with Halo Top x)
Also, in regards to finding more flavors in your stores I would suggest bringing in a product request form or writing to the store via email!joshperson195 wrote: »

I don't live near one of those The Shoprite near my house usually has them for around 3.99-4.99 a pint, so hopefully the newer flavors won't cost more when they're stocked!5 -
Man, I went to Wal Mart and HEB today. No Thomas bagles or carrot cake donuts! I did find and buy the coconut Belvita?0

The one thing I can't get over when it comes to Enlightened or Halo Top is the sheer PRICE of a single pint of ice cream. When you are on a tight budget $4.99 or $5.99 for so little is just out of the question.0

I also saw the Hostess ice creams. Didn't get any because it was hotter today.1 -

How about $7.49? That's at the local store across the street from my house. I almost fainted when I saw that! At Target it's $5.49 here1 -
Just tried the Maple French Toast Thomas Bagels...They are delicious!!4
-
For me Enlightened tastes artificial. It's not bad and I'll still eat it if I find a good price on it... but there's just an aftertaste that I can't ignore (which I've had on a couple Halo Top pints too though). It doesn't give me diarrhea like Halo Top does though...
I won't pay more than $4 for a pint of either though... I did stock up on Halo Top last week at Shop Rite!2 -

It's all probably just supply and demand. It's true, the ingredients are probably more expensive but I can't imagine it being THAT much more expensive. I assume it's because Halo Top and Enlightened are really the only two good diet/protein ice creams out there, once more brands start flooding the market (which I'm sure they will soon, especially as larger companies notice this trend) the prices will be driven down. For the time being, they have me in their hands. Both of them. Especially during Shoprites sales of each. My freezer is no longer for food, that stays in the fridge now and requires more careful planning xD0 -
Quest bar cinnamon roll I just got from quest directly looked so much different than usual and had a completely different texture..... I hate how sometimes with quest the bars seem different consistency...makes you wonder how accurate the nutritional info actually is. These were as soft as B UP bars (if not softer) and when I help them out they sagged and bent. Usually they are quite hard. They tasted like there was A LOT of almond butter in it. Anyone else notice how different each batch is? Drives me nuts because sometimes I like a batch then I buy again and totally different.1

I tend to buy a lot of my more expensive treats when I get a bonus at work or wait till an online site like GNC or Vitaminshoppe has a sale.0 -
I think these have been on the market before, but I bought them from Tesco today,( I am a vegetarian, but not a vegan), and omg yes they do taste like fish-fingers! Had them as a sandwich with tomato ketchup..yum!2 -

haha so true, I wish I had a separate freezer just for that stuff! I was so excited when I saw they carried Halo Top so close to me, but when I saw the price my jaw dropped. I'm just hoping that when they do have sales, they will be good because this store is known for really good sales.0 -

Hahaha to each their own obsession! XD Pancakes and ice cream are my weaknesses, whereas I never really was big on cookies, chips, or cheesecake like I see some people on other blogs go nuts over!
As for what you've mentioned about the inconsistency with your quest bars, I really don't buy them too often but I have definitely noticed this and thought it was just me! Perhaps Quest DID change their recipe again this time though? I was in the Vitamin Shoppe last week and every single quest bar I picked up was SO SOFT and squishy, I couldn't tell if it was a warmer day and they just stocked the shelves or what! I bought one though and it stayed this soft!
Oh, by the way, speaking of Pancake stuff. NOTICED THIS ON TARGET'S CARTWHEEL APP. They better have it in the store this time!!!

I saw Halo Top for $7-$8 at a local grocery store too. BUT whole foods had it on sale for $3.99 last week so I stocked up!2 -

It almost tastes like lavender lotion. When you get a bite of chocolate or walnut, it's not so bad, but overall not impressed. And I love tea-flavored stuff.
Has tinypic not been working for anyone else?0 -
