There's people that agree with you, my roomie's ex gave him a pint because she didn't like it and it sat in the freezer for like 6 months before I said ...are you going to eat that? Not great, tasted like a frozen protein shake to me personally.
I've heard great things about red velvet, peanut butter cup, and oatmeal cookie. I never see those in stock ever, so that must be true. I will probably give one of those a try for science.0 -
I like Halo Top, but sign me up with the Birthday Cake loathing club. Can't stand that flavor profile in general.
If I'm not looking to fill my protein macros, I'm also happy with some Edy's slow churned. It's usually easy for me to fit a decent sized serving of that into my day.4 -
I haven been able to get it on the Island here. I went to Safeway a month ago and requested it. It finally came in. Yay me!!!
Birthday Cake - don't like
Peanut butter- likey
Chocolate- like
Vanilla- like
Salted caramel- in the freezers waiting for me to try it.

My store only has chocolate and vanilla. If they ever get in peanut butter cup, then i will definitely fork out the cash and give it a try.2

Got the Birthday Cake flavor for the first time (usually I get chocolate or vanilla). Tastes mostly like frosting to me. Interesting, but probably not something I'd get again. But it does go well sandwiched in a graham cracker or a couple of gingersnaps.
Got the oatmeal once, and while I liked the flavor the texture of the oats threw me a little bit. And the mint chip didn't really work for me.
I guess I'm lucky; a pint of Halo Top is only about 50 cents more than a pint of B&J.2 -

It's so good!!5 -
It took me weeks to finally find the peanut butter cup that everyone seems to love. I found the flavor meh. I added chocolate syrup and walnuts to enhance the flavor. Probably won't buy this flavor again.2

My only gripe with Halo Top is that sometimes the pints have a disgusting aftertaste. Happened to me with vanilla and salted caramel so far... haven't bought them again since (even though the first pint of vanilla I bought was good - good thing, because otherwise I would never have given them another shot).
For people complaining that it's icy - you got to leave it at room temperature for 20-30 minutes. I use the 'soften ice cream' setting in my microwave and it's deliciously creamy and not icy at all.
I didn't care for the oats texture in the oatmeal cookie flavor but the base is solid.
Of course, I'm a 'eat the whole pint' kind of person so Halo Top is definitely great for me (I did buy 10 pints when they were on sale at $2.88 though).6 -
I agree about letting it warm up (melt a while) so that it is creamier.
I like the chocolate.0 -

I saw this thread the other day so I bought some strawberry when I went to the store. A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!
I just went back today to get Pistachio, Cookie Dough, and Red Velvet. It's not as delicious as full calorie ice cream but being able to eat half a pint for 140 calories compared to 500 calories for half a pint of B&J is totally worth it.5 -
I've only tried the Birthday cake one and hated it. Tasted very artificial to me. I've been looking for more flavors and can't seem to find any.1
-
Everyone loves that oatmeal one? I love Halo Top and that's the first flavor I tried that I thought was yuck. I tend to just stick to chocolate or vanilla. I like the 240 calorie count because I eat the whole thing.3
-
Even the vanilla is pure magic.
Tip: don't eat a pint of it the night before a long run.5 -

I didn't care for the Birthday Cake flavor very much; it was too sweet without much flavor. But then I tried sprinkling on some Ovaltine and it ended up tasting like chocolate with vanilla frosting!2 -

B&J here is almost $5 a pint. halo top is cheaper.
B&J is $3.50 here, Halo Top is often over $6, and it never goes on special.
The halo top is much more expensive in Oregon as well, my husband really wanted to try his own flavor and I made us skip weekend Starbucks to compensate. $13 for two!!! Never again. It's good but I can't justify that!1 -
I can't believe no one mentioned chocolate almond crunch. By far, my fave. Worth every penny (but my kids are grown and out of the house, otherwise I'd have to hide it).0
-
I love the oatmeal cookie that's my fave!1
-
I love this stuff!!0

I really like Halo Top...
Salted Caramel - Really Great my personal fave.
Chocolate-Good Flavor, smooth and cream. At go to.
Vanilla-Very good
Chocolate Almond Crunch-Eh... its okay. I do think the bits of almonds are a nice touch.
Black Cherry- It's good after the 2nd bite... It's almost like there is another flavor with this not just cherry.
Birthday cake-Its good but it's almost too sweet. So you can't eat more than 1 serving. I love the sprinkles.
Next on the list to try is: Lemon Cake and Cookies and Creme if its in stock.
HEB sells it... but only 2-3 flavors depending on the store. I tend to buy it at Whole Foods.
Ben & Jerry is about $4 and this is $5 so yeah... about what and what.1 -
I'm a food engineer and worked for Haagen Daz for years.
Halo Top uses Erythritol, a natural sugar alcohol from corn. No proven medical side-affects "yet"
But its application in food is still early.
The price confuses me, it's basically milk with butterfat removed and whey added. But hey, people are buying it!
I have had it and enjoy it but a little pricey for me. Sorry if I bursted any bubbles!13 -
Krogers has Halo Top on a special price for $3.50 if you buy 5. There is a lot of different things to choose from....cereal ,cheese etc.0
-
I'm thankful that ice cream is not one of my favorites. Or at least, I can go a long time without it! I have seen Halo Top at our Kroger, but have resisted so far.0
-
I'm such a sucker for Halo, especially when it's on sale for $2.88 at the Shoprite by me. Oatmeal is by far my favorite followed by pistachio and mint chip.0
-
Whaaaat? I tried Arctic Zero and that stuff is terrible, so I've just been ignoring the Halo Top, even though I see it every time I go to the store. All this time, I could have been enjoying peanut butter cup ice cream?
And you know what will happen. Next time I'm at the store? They won't have any.5 -
I still am not in the in crowd. I could not pay the $5 for the pint. My sister bought me some for my birthday but I have not touched it yet. I think it is just because I am stubborn and do want to follow the crowd. Maybe this weekend.0
-
I'm low carb, pay $5 for 4 servings, have it maybe once a week or so. Well worth it to me. I love the lemon....1
-
Never heard of it...but I am soooooooooooo interested.0
-
I keep a pint of Blue Bell in my freezer and just make sure to have some calories left over when I have a hankering. There are very few "diet" foods that are worth it in my opinion. Halo Top was, eh ...0
-
Color me intrigued. I had tried the Arctic Zero but it was TERRIBLE. Didn't have the mouth feel, flavor, or softness of ice cream. But now I'll have to try Halo Top, especially since peanut butter cup is my drug of choice.2
