@MNLittleFinn I get it - there's an ultra across north africa that I'd love. If you fancy coming over to see that dodgy little Arsenal squad at end of next season then to get over your disappointment we could do this as training: http://www.london2brightonchallenge.com/the-challenge/jog-it [i.e. run to the coast!]
That sounds like a wonderful excuse to visit London again.1 -
@midwesterner85 Hope your slump ends soon. Maybe a rest is just what you need, if you were running pretty much every day. Best wishes.
@ddmom0811 Eek, Influenza A, no wonder you were feeling crappy! Pampering and no feeling guilty for resting for you! Hugs.
@Stoshew71 Hahaha, love "tooda"! Thanks for your help.
@Calvin2008Brian What a tragedy. Just this morning I was at a meeting of concerned citizens this morning about the need for a roundabout at a dangerous intersection in town. Yet even though precautions are put in place, people still do silly things. We must be so careful.
@RespectTheKitty Sorry to hear the new medication isn't right. Glad to hear you're planning to go back to the doctor.0 -

Fab - see you then!
Edit: All other MRC welcome too!1 -

Can you imagine everyone here showing up for a race together? That would be awesome. And if it's Hawaii, then hell yeah!
That really would be great! I'd love to go!
You can count me in!! Would be soooo awesome and sooo fun!
2017 or 2018? Anyone serous? I hear it's a long flight but would be a great experience!
Start throwing out some dates y'all!
hmmm. I just checked out London to Hawaii flights August this year. nearly £1k and 19 hours with a stopover in Vancouver......this could be a pricey destination event!!!
Yes. I think it would for most of us. That's why I offered 2018. Looks like from here (Oklahoma USA) it's about half that price.
Be nice if we could figure out a way to make it less expensive.
We can keep it on he back burner, maybe I'll buy a lottery ticket.
I'm not opposed to camping either! DH wants to roast hot dogs at the volcano fire! Haha!5 -

Yeah. I don't know what the heck I was thinking when I set my goal. 28 days with a race stuck in the middle to taper for. Oh well, I will be somewhat close, maybe?0 -
75 F today. 10 degrees warmer than yesterday. A bit of shock to the system. It's OK to slow down when it gets warm.1

Not sure if it's been mentioned (I'm way behind on comments!), but that running documentary that was mentioned yesterday or the day before is "From Fat to Finish Line", streaming on Netflix. I started it last night, and it is fun and hopeful as stories like this can be.
Speaking of hopeful, my 100 mile stretch goal is within sight!4 -

Monthly goals:
Mileage goal: 150
Real Goal: Stay healthy enough to get into the swing of real marathon training.
Today's notes: Another 4 mile Friday. These easy runs the day before long run day have become pretty routine for me. Adding the strides back into the mix has helped me not become complacent though. I worked on making sure I had good posture, and that I wasn't bending at the waist, which has been an issue for me in the past. Strides and run were both good.
Happy Friday everyone!2 -
5km on the dreadmill last night and 7km outside this morning!!

Happy Friday everyone!
@Elise4270 We'll have to roast hot dogs AND marshmallows on the volcano fire. We can incorporate that as our graphic for our group @volcanorunners shirts! Lol!
@HonuNui Unless you want to share your bathroom with us, portapotties would be good. Since we're all a bunch of runners, we should be used to using them when nature calls on a run!3 -
@BeeerRunner I agree, the HM distance is fun and I expect I'll line up more races throughout the year. Those trail races sound awesome, and I hope you get make that Chicago trip work out!

I probably won't get to run on Saturday (son's 6th birthday), but there's still a few more days left to hit my revised monthly goal.

@BEERRUNNER I'm in Dallas and heard the weather report this morning for the weekend. Best of luck! Hope the rain is minimal and perfectly timed for the race!
