I've got a degree in Icelandic literature.. Was a columnist/editor/journalist for many years. Hated it
Quit my job last year and did whale watching for a few months.. Loved it but the paycheck wasn't as good.
Now I'm getting back into journalism and columns but I have plans to go to school again and study sports. It's where my passion is. I want to help people take control over their body.
And I wouldn't mind making money working out and do competitions for money. But so far the only "job offer" I've got is a "hot girls wanted" kind of job and I gracefully declined lol2 -
I have a master's in social work because I wanted to be a medical social worker. I like working more with geriatric clientele. I couldn't work with child welfare, that would probably make me crazy. I'm still working on the experience required to do medical social work, 5+ years and internships don't count pfft, but in the meantime I'm a Case Manager at a senior resource center and I love it. There's definitely a need in the community to help seniors age in place.4

I'm an ICU RN. I just came back to the hospital after working 7 years as a home health psych nurse. I love my job and my awesome coworkers. Some days it's not so fun but it's worth it. I learn something new everyday.5

After a few jobs that I didn't love I'm happy with my life and where it's taken me. I guess my career is helping people basically. I don't have a pay cheque but I have a happy, rewarding life.1

I work as an integrated circuit layout designer. It's been an awesome career.
Those awesome incredible gadgets you've loved all your life? Yeah, I made that.

I started life wrenching on cars when I was 12. Went to tech school for automotive and graduated an ASE mechanic. Year and a half later I suffered a cracked C3 vertabre and from that point could not do the labor involved as a mechanic. Took a year to even get back to a semi normal life. Even changing my own oil was painful.
Got involved in this thing called computers (talking 1989). I've been in IT now professionally since 1991. I now am "glorified title" - senior network engineer as a consultant. I mainly do servers, networks and firewalls and am heading up a disaster recovery plan for clients to provide virtual offices in case of disaster. Love AND hate it at the same time.
It isn't life gratifying work.. neither job was really. However I was lucky in that what turned in to careers were both hobbies at the same time. Makes going to work easier at times
My advice to anyone is try to find a career you WANT to do.1 -
My career is raising small little humans to be amazing adult human beings when they grow up. I'm not perfect at my job but I give everything I have to make sure I guide them in the right direction.7

Healthcare.
I manage folks that have suffered catastrophic injuries such as traumatic brain injury and spinal cord injury.
Gratifying but requires endless self sacrifice. Including my health. And that is why I find myself here, once again.1 -
I empower people to reach their goals in health... and YES, I love it!1

Im in college atm working towards a science degree. I want to work in field ecology or wildlife conservation and would love to retire later as a professor of biology. I WANTED to be an entomologist but my son threatened to move out and disown me. Bugaphobe.. While I work towards this dream, I contend myself with pet sitting and dog obedience training. Do I love it? Eh.. I dont hate it. If I cant tag a litter of fox kits yet, I suppose working with pets is the next best thing!
I also have two teens who help me with everything. They have helped me since they were in 1st and 4th grade. I thought it was hilarious to hear so many other adults gripe and complain how they couldnt study for an exam or complete an assignment because they had kids at home. I utilized mine! They helped me study for every test and were my audience for every paper I had to write and powerpoint presentation I had to present.1 -
I am a medical student . I'll my degree soon then its time to revive some folks xD2
