Hi all. Lent starts today so why don't we try to log into MFP for each of the 40 days (and try to log all food and exercise).
Who's with me? We'll all look even more fabulous by Easter

This could be a great motivator as traditionally if you did not fast for 6 days of the week for 40 days, you ate only one large meal and two smaller meals each day. The two smaller meals should not equal the larger meal. I am kinda doing this for some fun, make the calories of my smaller meals not exceed the calories of my largest meal of the day.7

I have been logging each day for a few months now but lately I'm struggling to keep to my limit and occasionally don't log all meals, so along the same lines my commitment throughout Lent is to log all food that passes my lips and keep to my calorie allowance.7

Hi, I have logged in for 30 odd days in a row but I am struggling to stay motivated. Have lost pretty much all that I wanted to lose but the hardest part is now staying motivated to be able to maintain the weight loss so count me in please4

I'm in! I always find Lent is a more motivating time of the year for me than New Year's because after Lent comes summer!6
-
Agreed. And giving up sweets as well. Yikes!2
-
I am giving up sugar and want to do some sort of exercise each day for lent. Lets go!3
-
I havr been ligging more odten than not but havent been consistent with exercise. Have a small injury now to set me back so will be very consistent with logging for next 40 days and get back to exercise as soon as I can.3
-
Yep I'm giving up crap for lent.... no fizzy drinks, sweet, chocolate, bread - I'll try- and giving up social media like Facebook, twitter and instragram... add to keep each other going x3
-
I'm in!! I'm giving up sweets and chocolate and logging will help keep me accountable.2
-
I'm in! I'm also giving up fast food for the next 40 days too! Big challenge as I am on the go a lot. I have to prepare in advance to make sure I have everything with me that I am going to need! My goals are the following:
1) Log every day
2) Log everything
3) Exercise at least some every day, even if it is just a ten minute walk around the community room
4) No fast food
5) Follow plan5 -
Just as an FYI, (and not to be a downer) the period of Lent from today Ash Wednesday to Easter Sunday is actually 47 days this year. The 40 day period of Lent that everyone talks about does not include Sundays. Just sharing this so that if your intention is to cover the Lenten time period, then it is actually a week longer.
40 days from today would end on Palm Sunday, April 9th.

Good idea. Joined today as a way to be thankful for my body, ensure I am eating better and taking care. So, thank you for the group support.5

I'm in, great idea! The only time I was successful in losing weight was when I logged everything. I'm starting today!2
-
Great idea, I just re-started today, would love some help staying motivated0

I just joined today, I keep falling off the wagon. I figured Lent would be a great motivator1

Hi, I am giving up flour and keeping sugar under 50g a day. As well as exercising for 30 minutes everyday. I will be logging everyday too. Please add me. I could use some support.3
-
I'm giving up coffee. That'll save quite a few calories from the half and half. Today was rough, lol.2
-
I am giving up meat for Lent and only eating fish and shellfish, lots of vegetables with good oils and fruits. No sugar or fried foods. I will be logging in everyday and hopefully exercising 4 days a week. I did of course have whole wheat bread for breakfast.1
-
Im in.......next 47 days.....logging everything that enters my mouth. And exercise the next 47 days. Omg. I just said that......sigh. I'm already tired lol.3
-
I'm abstaining from meat on Ash Wednesday and all Fridays during Lent and the big one - giving up alcohol. Besides proving that I can do it, that ought to get the scale moving again! I am also planning to not eat out for all of Lent (no restaurant meals or take-out). Only cooking my own food at home.
I have a lovely bottle of Soave that I'm saving for Easter celebration! (I was tempted to pop it open last night for Fat Tuesday but drank up the cheap stuff instead.) It's all about discipline, right?3 -
No mas doritos!1

Count me in...I have less than 5lbs to lose and while that isn't the "idea" of lent, it is a motivating time and I can usually do better during lent. My goals are to log every food item everyday; workout for 30 minutes at least 4 times a week; and no candy (along with no meat today and on Fridays)!! I have gradually been increasing the amount of sweets I eat, sometimes my snacks are close to 1/3 of my daily calories - that is too many for everyday. I like the idea of a special bottle of wine for Easter...I will do the same! Blessings and good luck to all!0

Morning all. Day two of 47 (I forgot about the Sundays not counting in the 40 days). I was delighted with my logging yesterday- every bite logged. Even if I eat something where I don't know weight/ calories I'm still going to "guesstimate" just to keep my diary as complete as I can. That shouldn't happen often but I'm running a 10k on Saturday and am already visualising the cakes and buns for after! Keep up the good work3

Weird fact- in Ireland we "pause lent" for St Patrick's day 17th march. So people eat and drink what they want that day then restart lent on the 18th!5

I'm in! Starting today. This feels like a great time period to achieve something significant weight loss wise and get into the habit of logging daily and honestly! Have a big family event Easter Sunday and want to look and feel great. Good luck everyone. Let's stick with this and see it through.1

Trying for a day two streak! Logging the food. Was way under yesterday as usual the scale never changes. Will keep at this but and would like at least a little tiny change!

For us in the US, it depends upon who our priest is! Some do "pause" for St. Patrick's day, but not usually. Our local parish is St. Joseph's and his day is March 19, so our priests tend to "pause" for St. Joseph!4 -
How did everyone do today? I logged faithfully, worked out, didn't eat any candy, but I did have an oatmeal raisin cookie after dinner and a cup of dry cereal (my favorite evening snack). While I am thrilled I didn't eat any candy (I only reached for it once), not sure I should have had the cookie, I normally would not even eat oatmeal raisin!0

Battled through yesterday and stayed under calorie goal. Attended slimming group last night for weigh in and group support. No social events this weekend unlike the last few. Son away on a school trip this week so extra time available to get back into regular exercise. That combined with tracking everything should give me a positive result by the end of the week!1

Day 3 and I'm feeling good - and a bit hungry. Might try and eat a little more as i don't want to get so hungry that I start overeating.
My medium term goal is my sister-in-laws wedding in July - I'd love to be a stone lighter to feel comfortable in a nice dress.
Happy Friday folks.0
