Just spit ot out Chances are that someone here will be able to relate.
If you dont say then no one will be able to help.5 -
So would you like to ask it in a public forum or not? You are anonymous so you can ask away if you're comfortable.4

Ahhhh its just so embarrasing though lol i feel ill get laughed at0

I ask questions about my poop on here. If that helps at all.17
-
I have Crohn's disease so my life revolves around poop and I post about it all the time16

Poop, pee, farts, periods, burps and more are commonly discussed here. Don't be embarrassed.9
-
Now I'm curious.4

I've openly admitted to eating too little fat and completely losing my libido, drowning a jar of peanut butter in water so I wouldn't eat it even after throwing it in the trash.....oh mfp. Don't judge me.22

Ok here goes...... lol well im 11 stone 9 used to be 8.9 but had my little girl and put 3 stone on by carrying on binge eating after i had her (my mistake) and also before i mention i have been to the doctors about this and he told me it isnt infected and its fine so im assuming its weight gain so my belly button has started to smell and i think its due to the fact of the rolls on my belly hiding my belly button so theres no air getting to it lol i really want to loose weight now because its just getting too much now starting to have problems and i have a partner its just embarrasing anyways thanks i feel like a idiot now anyway but doctor saying theres nothing wrong so it must be due to being fat2

I've seen some doozies asked over the years!
Is your problem worse than the guy who sharted all over his girlfriend while they were in bed? That thread went on and on :laugh:14 -
Id rather talk about poop than what my problem is lol1

Since we're all being TMI and it's Tuesday I'm having a complete proctocolectomy soon and getting a permanent ileostomy. Yes I'm over sharing lol8

Oops we posted at the same time!
Hopefully someone will be along soon who has had your problem. Have you tried keeping your belly button fresh through out the day with baby wipes, talcum powder?
Don't be embarrassed! ! I had far worse scenarios swimming around in my head5 -
It is probably a yeast infection. I used to get them really badly under my stomach 'apron'. Over the counter athlete's foot remedies work pretty well. I used Canestan on mine (I think it is diflucan?).15

I know the doctor told me it was fine how the hell can it be fine when it smells though lol he should of give me cream either way i really do think its because the fats overlapping my belly button so its not getting any open fresh air could beat meself up about it but the only thing now is to loose weight3 -

Yup, that's what Canestan is. It's marketed for athlete's foot but I've used it on myself as well as for skin thrush on my kids' faces and bottoms. It's a cure-all, but you need to keep taking it for 2 weeks after the rash is gone or it will just come back.5 -
So the belly button thing is not weird or embarrassing. I get that too sometimes. You just have to make sure you clean it out good in the shower. I mostly have this happen when I sweat a lot. Make sure to dry it good after and I've found that sometimes I will put my body oil there to help with the smell. It's not all the time this happens to me but it can do it for weeks at a time and then stop. I don't know what causes it because I've been bigger most of my life. In fact I weigh more now then when it started doing the smell thing last year. It is not doing it right now but I will put soap in there and use a Q-Tip to clean it out. The diet is what really makes it stink. I hope this helps you feel less embarrassed and I also hope it helps you with your question.0

Thanks alot for the advice your all so kind1

Hydrogen peroxide and Q-tip should take care of most of it.
And when you shower (daily? every-other day?) wash and dry (especially dry) the area well.5 -

Thanks for your advice and reply i will start to clean it out more regular i get showers so maybe theres just not enough water getting in to clean it out and also my belly button is covered by fat on my belly roll most of the time so i thought maybe its that thanks2 -
Unfortunately, for your added weight, air isn't getting to areas of your skin (belly buttons, folds, under breasts, etc) and bacteria has probably taken hold. Bathe the area(s) with an antibacterial soap. Allow the areas to dry well before putting on clothing, and wear clothing that "breathes" lets air in. Some folks have had some success applying a crystal deodorant over the afflicted areas as well. (may have to be reapplied occasionally over the day if the condition is bad
Hope this helps

If we are being TMI I have a crazy deep bellybutton. Even when I was skinny I could poke my finger in it. Every now and then I clean it with a cotton swab and some soapy water because I have this idea like that it never gets clean in the shower because it is an endless chasm of bellybutton. I don't know whether or not this is helpful to your situation, OP, but bellybuttons can be kept fresh and clean with cotton swabs.8

I edited my post up above to mention baby wipes and talcum powder to keep it dry.
But my vote would be canestan and hydrogen peroxide, as already mentioned.2 -
I think clotrimazole is what I used to treat my tinea. Sounds about right.
Sorry about your belly button OP. If it's a yeast thing it can be cleared up1 -
Nystatin powder...2

Awesome--Clotrimazole is what we call it here in the US.
I also second the peroxide and q-tip. I'm not overweight but still have this problem in my navel from time to time (there's scar tissue from a surgery that makes it hard to get it dry.)
Canestan is just a brand of clotrimazole I think (Canada). The other one I mentioned is for oral thrush I think. Got them mixed up. Or might be making stuff up... sleep has been lacking this week.0 -
Stinky belly button? Well we have heard things that you wouldn't believe. This is totally mild. Try cleansing the area and drying it well a couple of times each day. Maybe use a hair dryer on low heat to get it free of excess moisture. Apply cornstarch or a talc free baby powder to help with any moisture build up from sweat. Losing weight will help because you will rid your self of that fat roll over time. I will add here, don't scrub the area, just do a gentle wash with mild soap and water so you don't irritate the skin. If you want to take a less costly route use a mixture of 3 tablespoons of vinegar to 2 oz of water, or use a tablespoon of baking soda to 3 oz of water. Just put it in a squeeze bottle and squeeze it over the area. Rinse with plain water, dry very well.0

I too have this issue some times. It seems to be worse, if I've had quite a bit of sugar. I agree that it is some type of yeast infection. I typically clean it good and try to really watch the sugar intake.0

Also, you could start taking probiotics. We have a product here in Aus called "candex", you'd have something similar over there.1
