Tinkerer app mentions every half mile, and you can schedule your distance2

I love my fitbit charge hr but I'd prefer something that can give me an alarm at x miles ran.
My Garmin (Fenix 3 HR) vibrates and displays a lap summary after each mile when tracking a run. I'm not sure if other Garmins will do that as well. The Fenix 3 and Fenix 3 HR are higher-end models.
The Zombies, Run! app also gives me a summary every mile. It will tell me: X miles run in Y minutes Z seconds. It is not as reliable on longer runs if I decide to complete a mission and start a new mission, because it resets of course.
And You can set Zombies, Run! to play missions back-to-back! A handy hack for running a set number of missions before starting Radio Mode is to only download as many missions as you want to run back-to-back.
I bought a phone with a memory card specifically to have storage for all 5 seasons of missions, so I could stop deleting them to make more room... Not a strategy I employ.
Oh, I need to figure out how to make those missions run back to back. It will save some time stopping to finish a mission and start a new one.
It's the settings menu on the mission screen. All kinds of cool stuff in there, like adjusting the length of the mission, and whether you want the story to interrupt your music or wait until the song ends...1 -

Life and work got in the way, but I did run this morning and am just now logging it.
7 miles with 3 of those at tempo pace.
I did the first 2 at kinda an easy pace (8:27 and 8:16) as a warmup with 2 accomplished guys in my Thursday morning running group. I then excused myself to go run a tempo since they were running only 5 miles anyway. I hit the first tempo at 7:13 and got pretty winded. (a couple of small hills were involved) It's also been a while since I got near that kind of pace. So I slowed down for a recovery on the next split running a 9:03. Then I hit a 7:21 and 7:11 and then slowed down at 9:33 on my last mile as a cool down.
So I didn't quite hit threshold pace, well going by my GMP I didn't. I am not very scientific about figuring out my LTP. I just know according to the McMillan Calculator, if I want a 3:20 marathon, then the LTP (or vLT as he calls it) should be a 7:02.
EDIT: If I wanted to be a little more accurate and use my last HM PR from Nov 12th, then my vLT would be 7:06 per McMillian.

@RuNaRoUnDaFiEld - Mapmyrun will give you notification every mile or whatever you want to set it to along with overall pace and pace for each completed mile. I have an Apple watch and you can have a goal with it as well that is set to distance or time among other options. I will show a count or an icon circle that gradually closes. It also gives a haptic (buzz on your wrist) each time a mile is completed and at your halfway point. The problem for me though is I don't always notice it especially if I am zoned out into my run, music and surroundings3

I have a question - how long before a race do you guys suggest I switch to maintenance calories? I've been eating at a deficit (~500 cal deficit per day) for the last 2+ months. I really want to perform my absolute best as this race and think upping my calories to maintenance level would be a good idea. Any thoughts on when, in relation to the race, would be a good time to do this?
Depends on the race and your training. As a minimum, I would suggest for your entire taper period. I think I read somewhere that it takes at least 2 weeks for your muscles to fully recover from a workout? So if you go by that, I would definitely say that same period you should be eating at least maintenance.

Yup, my FR220 vibrates, beeps, and light up as well. My previous FR-10 doesn't vibrate, but it does beep and light up after each split.1 -

Thank you! I got it to work, but it didn't do the ending and intro for the next mission. I feel like I missed out on the opening.
Anyway, I did 6.32 miles today:

Took the day off from work today because bleh. That's why my walking miles are so low, because I didn't have my usual lunch time walk. Got my run in a little early. Flower shop doesn't need me tonight, so that's good because I was unable to get myself up early to run in the morning. I tried, really I did. I'll try again tomorrow.
The guy at the flower shop I freelance for is talking about maybe hiring me as a wedding consultant. If that's the case, I'd be working for him full time. Nothing is determined yet, he's still thinking about it, as I am a little bit expensive ($20/hr). I would love to go back to floral full time, though I do not think I'd like going back to working on weekends. Eh, I've done it before, I can do it again. Still, I think I would really like the change, especially because it would mean I could leave my current job, which totally sucks.7 -
Just about 2 hours until I attempt my first run in over a week. Kind of nervous and excited8

4---2.49 walk
7---3.25 walk
9---3.25 run/walk. Because Karl said he beat GT bursitis, and I have friends to run with. Thanks y'all! You know that feeling the first time you drive a stick shift without grinding all the gears? That was today's run. Finally.
12.06/31 miles

March 26th 2017 A2A 5k Ardmore, OK- guess I'm signing up for this one alone. DH is gonna pass. It's a hard 5k. It's not flat any where. But I gotta start somewhere. And the hills are good for butt muscles. 17 days of training? Eek. My best for this course, I think is 32 min, worst 46. I can do 46 now. Soooo.. ya, why not.10 -

I slept really poorly last night, with anxiety dreams when I was sleeping. Ended up just turning on my laptop for while and putting some ideas down for a project I need to finish just so I could calm down. I finally fell asleep what seemed like minutes before time to get up. I didn't want to run then but decided to hit the treadmill before work so I wouldn't have to after. Not the best run but did make some progress on my audiobook which is getting to the good part (I hope).
@shanaber - that's a good point about making sure nothing is hurting Stella for running. I feel like she just would rather poke around and walk and smell things but I will keep an eye out and be cautious.
Time to go to bed soon and try to catch up on that sleep I didn't get last night (but first I have a cheesecake in the oven I need to wait for - trying the protein cheesecake people have been talking about on the main board forums).5 -

Personally, I've always thought Ragnar was too expensive and it just isn't worth the travel and time finding team mates. They seem like they are over-hyped, though I admit I don't have any experience actually doing them. I'm more of a lone wolf anyway, so they don't appeal to me(except the bling looks nice).ETA: Not trying to be rude or anything, just a "to each their own" type of thing.

My face when I see people running my whole March goal in one run... (10 miles)5

That's great! I just threw that out there in case someone needed a topic to write him about.
Thanks!

March Running Totals (miles)
3/1 – 7.32 easy with hills
3/2 – 13.10 long intervals
3/3 – rest day
3/4 – 16.09 paced run
3/5 – 12.67 easy with hills
3/6 – rest day
3/7 – 10.20 warm up, speed work, cool down
3/8 – 7.02 easy
3/9 – 14.25 easy with MP finish
March total to date – 80.65
Nominal Challenge Goal – 225 miles
Real Goals: Stay healthy. Train well toward Boston. Run well at the USATF Masters 8K Championship in Virginia Beach.
Today's notes – The assignment was 15 miles easy. It got cut short, because along about mile 12 I realized it would be really tough to run 3 more miles without a rest room break, and 14.25 is where home landed. If I could have arrived at my driveway at 13 miles, that's how long the run would have been.
Other that the realization that starting a 10+ mile run at 3 PM doesn't work well for me biologically, it was a nice run. The last 3 miles were closer to MP than easy, because that's the way it was. 18 mph wind, but it was from the familiar SW direction, so I knew well in advance where the wind would be challenging. Got through the 9 miles of hills in good shape. In the wake of yesterday's wind storm, I found that non-working traffic lights make crossing major roads easier for a runner, because drivers treat them as a 4 way stop.
And I have a house guest for the night, because my daughter is still without power. Hopefully it gets restored by this time tomorrow; but if not, I'll still have the space for her and potentially for her cats.

Confession time. I was so happy to be running and "healthy" for the first time in over a week, that I ran too hard. 3.14 miles in 27:21 for an average pace of 8:43.
Legs felt good, but my cardio is definitely down from time off running plus stomach flu. Going to have to rebuild some on that front. Speed is still there, just not the cardio to back it
Side note, I had my usual pace alerts turned off. They keep me close to a pace range of 9:45-10:30, I tend to go too fast without them.....Guess tonight proves that.11 -
JessicaMcB wrote: »@juliet3455 have you or anybody you know run the Red Deer Marathon (Woody's full)? I just realized it is a BQ certified event and early bird reg is over on the 21st so not much time to decide . It's also a hair less than a month out from Banff...why can't I just run all the things?!
@JessicaMcB I know of 1 guy in our community who has run Red Deer, unfortunately he is away on a extended South Pacific vacation (close to Orphia & emmab0902) with his famdamily and won't be back until early April so I can't ask him any questions. The only concern I can see looking at the course map is there are a few 120-280 degree turns which can really slow you down. I remember people talking about that from Kelowna.
Swim club tonight so no running to report.2 -
Had a great run today. Way too hot but it felt really good. Followed it up with strenght training tonight. I was still sore from Tuesday's workout (mostly legs and core) and I am sure I won't be able to raise my arms tomorrow after tonight's workout (mostly arms and core). Feels good to be back at it and so happy to be lifting heavy once again!

Yesterday's steady run was really hard after several consecutive running days, but today just called for 25 minutes easy so figured I'd be able to get through it. At least the weather was good at 9C, slightly overcast and breezy (9mph). This shorts and s/s top thing is becoming a habit!
Anyway, felt great today and just didn't want to stop running, so what should have been 25mins easy turned out to be 40mins MP. Probably would have been longer if didn't have other commitments! No running this weekend though and despite how today felt, memory of yesterday reminds the rest is definitely overdue.

3-Mar: 10.1k easy
