Looks like a running theme, I will add in. I had surgery a month ago, 1.5 weeks ago I was cleared to resume normal activities. Today during my lunch I ran for 20 out of the 25 minutes I used to do before surgery. (First time running since surgery. ) It felt fantastic.20

I've been trying to not spend too much money on clothing while losing weight, since I don't know what's going to fit once I reach my goal, but I finally decided to reward myself for almost twenty pounds lost by taking advantage of some season-end sales that are going on right now.
When I got to the store, I honestly had no idea what size I even wear anymore. At the beginning of my weight loss journey in January (around 180 at 5'5"), I was struggling to get into Larges and XLs in some clothes, but I knew I had lost some weight and so I grabbed a few things in Medium and Large.
Well, one of the side effects of big clearance sales is that things tend to get a bit disorganized on the racks. Two of the dresses I grabbed were on the wrong hanger for their size. When I thought I was trying on large, I was actually trying on medium, and when I thought I was trying on medium, I was actually trying on small. You catch my drift...
Anyway, both dresses fit!
Let me repeat that. I was able to wear both a small and a medium in several different dresses, it turns out, with the small being a bit on the snug side and the medium being a tad looser.
I know it probably has something to do with vanity sizing, but there is no way that I could have squeezed into those dresses (vanity sizing or not) two months ago. The dresses still looked impossibly tiny to me when I wasn't wearing them, and I couldn't believe that they even fit on my body. I almost cried at the revelation.
In the end, I decided to go with the small size, since I still have twenty pounds to lose.40 -

If there was a button to press that's bigger than awesome, I'd press it

After 3 months of 5K distances I did 10K for the first time last night. It was a much slower pace (62mins) compared to my 5K pace (26min) but I just wanted to see if I could actually do it. Such an amazing feeling. I finally feel like I can call myself a runner. So to all you C25K users out there, keep at it, it does get easier (but then you find you push yourself more!).
This is so great to hear!! I'm starting week 6 of C25K this week, but I just ran my first 5k last Saturday. While I ran the whole thing, my pace was 40 minutes. I want so badly to finish in 30 or under! Thinking about starting C25K again when I finish the program from about week 4 to try to speed up my pace!

Putting on my snow pants (which I could not wear at all last winter cuz I had grown too big) and finding that - even cinched as tight as they would go - they would NOT stay up until I pinned them to my sweatshirt with two big diaper pins.34

I've had a bleugh kind of day today - haven't wanted to do anything, didn't want to go to the gym this morning (but went), didn't want to go out for our family walk (but went as I'd promised my toddler that I'd take her to the park), didn't want to go out for a bike ride either. This is really not like me - these days anyway; if it was 18 months ago then it would have been normal behaviour for me.
A gorgeous, warm, sunny day. My husband had replaced the rear tyre and serviced my bike so no excuse not to go, other than I was feeling "bleugh". My toddler said to me, "Mummy, you need to go for your bike ride, it's a lovely day, you MUST go". So I did. Within two minutes of starting out, I wanted to go home and soak in a bath.
I kept going (as I felt that I couldn't just turn around and flee for home). Got a bit further and the wind started blowing. Another headwind I still wanted to go home but thought that I'd go a bit further, just to say that I had been for a cycle ride.
Got up the first killer hill, thinking I'll just get to the top then I can turn around and go home. Then the second killer hill, same thoughts. Then the third, same thoughts. And so on. Then I approached the hill from hell (part one). As I was slogging up it, I was thinking, well, I'm feeling bleugh so I can always get off and walk if I want to. No-one will know I kept going, slogging away up the hill.
Got to the top of that hill and decided that I'd go home rather than go up hill from hell part two. But then I thought, I've only been out for an hour, I'll just slog up the hill and then I'll turn around and go home.
Slogged up the hill and eventually got to the top. Now, the good thing about getting to the top of the hill from hell part two is the ride back DOWN the hill. But I got to the top and kept going, even though I wanted to go home. I'm like "WTH am I DOING??? Home is the OTHER way".
I kept going. Hill from hell part two loops back around to hill from hell part one, so back up part one I go, thinking, "I'm not going to make this, I am not going to make this". I made it. To the top without getting off.
Then I'm at the top of that one, and on the verge of hill from hell part two. Turn left, I go up the hill Turn right, I go down the hill. I turned left. I don't know why, probably just to prove something to myself. Even when feeling bleugh.
Got to the top and that was it. Enough. I turned the bike around and went home. DOWN the hill. I decided not to use the brakes at all on the way down, just for fun. And it was fun, the best part of the ride. And this is why:
40.3MPH. That was so worth the slog up the hill, the going out when I felt so bleugh. Got home and collapsed into a hot bath (as I was frozen; I stupidly went out without a coat, not realising that it was windy). Got out of the bath and found that DH had made dinner. Not such a bad day after all

2. Decided to go in to the "other closet" ... the one with the clothes I haven't worn in ~3years and almost everything fit!!! In fact, some of the dresses were so cute that I've brought them out to start rotating in my work trip wardrobe - time to stop wearing tents and actually making an effort again, even if I have another 70lbs to lose.
I know, it's awesome isn't it. Some of my clothes that I have kept for years I have now thrown away as even though they fit I no longer like them....

Hihi, I guess you ended up winning, with the dog still standing there going "WTF! she never does that!"
My mom's dog now hates going on 'walks' with me. Dog is obese by dog standards, so 'walking' with me is quite a work out for it. I do make sure to plan the 'walks' so that we pass the pond at the halfway point so it can get a drink (and make dog go swimming... it's good for it ). Ever since I started, it has lost about 1kg (still about 7kg overweight, which is HUGE on a beagle)
I love hearing how our fitness walks make dogs fit too. Thanks for the story. It gets so hot here in Florida that I can't take Ellie out as much in the summer, but in these winter months we do two miles several times a week. Even if there was a pond we couldn't stop due to those pesky alligators.12 -
For the first time ever have I over-achieved my protein goal today (I pre-log all my food first thing in the morning). I am replacing my added sugar calories with protein calories. I am amazed at how much more dense food I can eat when I am not drinking added sugar.
Oh, and I have grown out of my first piece of clothing. It is hanging on my body like a potato sack. It feels amazing. Only sad part is that I actually liked this piece. I ll take it though.24 -

Lol the most dangerous thing around here are wild boars (scary *kitten* to meet in the forest) but those are usually only out and about close to the settlements at around twilight (so mornings and evenings when the sun's going up or down). So no worry about pesky alligators in the pond.
The dog currently fits with the overall theme of the family (overweight or obese). I figured I'll try to make it profit from my journey. It's a hunting dog, it needs the exercise even if it's as lazy as I used to be.
(PS: weighed it this morning: 18.7kg. It started somewhere above 20kg, so that's more than 1kg lost now )
Does that count as a SV for the dog or a NSV for me?25 -

This is pretty amazing. I used to work in a vet practice and it's really hard to get animals to shift weight (or persuade their owners to help them). So well done you. That dog has lost over 7% of its original weight. That's a considerable amount when you think about it.11 -

Especially when you consider that
a) it's a trash compactor on 4 paws and permanently hungry (it will eat anything and everything it gets its paws on). I'm going to try and bulk her food with veggies to see if added low calorie volume might help.
b) it suffers from epilepsy but we can't risk giving meds (mother died from the side effects of epilepsy meds), but running with me actually seems to have helped stabilize the situation (burning off the nervous energy and taking the mind off food?) and the vet urgently advised gentle weight loss to help the situation.
c) it thinks its the beta in the house (it accepts me as alpha and treats my parents as omegas... It actually is kinda sad, but I can't seem to get the message across to my parents that it's a dog, not a human and needs to be treated as such, i.e. consistency in orders and reaction to non-compliance, no scraps from the table, no food outside of the fixed meal times, etc...)
BTW that 7% loss was over the past 6 months. I'm trying to take it as slow as possible to avoid triggering an epileptic episode in case food and food anxiety really are the main triggers (what we suspect).
It's hard work losing weight when you're the one in charge of yourself. It's agonizing when it's a pet and there are other people involved in said pet's primary care (I work full-time, so I'm not home a lot).7 -

I was tiered of listing to mom whine about what needs to be done. So I decided to just do it. Now she's whining about how I'm successful and she's not. :eyeroll:
(Side note: I love my parents, even if it sometimes doesn't sound like it, and would do anything to help them. It's just frustrating me sometimes.)12 -
I hated my life yesterday and really didn't want to go and meet my running group; did it anyway as I had decided this was not negotiable until the race in Mid-May. Wasn't so bad and I felt way better afterwards. :-)24

I signed up for my first real 5k today!!! It is on Mother's Day and I'm super excited... this is from the girl who has ALWAYS said I would never pay someone to make me run... oops!

I did 15 military push ups today. To think of it last month I couldn't even maintain my balance coz of my body fat. Only could do a 15-20 seconds plank but today i did it!!!25

I managed to wiggle out of my pajama pants while sleeping last night. lol Now hubby won't stop teasing me about the pajamas that look like "elephant skin" on me. Time for more pajamas like everything else in my closet.17 -
I did my fastest 5k the other day and gave it everything I had. I walked a while to cool down and realised I had recovered quicker than expected. I was approaching a massive hill near my home and decided to sprint up it. Previously I had only managed to get half way up, but this day I sprinted up the whole thing. I've decided that on my shorter runs (anything under 4 miles) that's how I'll finish.29

Preplanning food is a lot of this. That IS a win.
Regarding pants falling down. You can take a piece of elastic and tie a knot in it and use it to hold up your pants. We called it a "belly band" and we used it to wear the family slip. One slip, four daughters. I pulled the top of the slip up a lot so it didn't show under my clothing. You can also take a fork used to lift meat roasts from a pan and a cutting board and stab a new hole in your belt. No point in purchasing new until you have to.12 -
2 people (one my husband) told me today that I look like I'd lost weight. I have not lost a single pound but I decided to take measurements and I have lost 3 inches (1.75 from waist and 1.25 from hips). Maybe this evening I'll measure my thighs too. I kind of feel like they are getting a smaller. Or maybe that's just wishful thinking.22

No cycle ride today due to "life" and the weather. Daughter lost her debit card so she was panicking and that took some sorting out as everything has to be a drama with her, plus it rained, that horrible misty rain that soaks everything in seconds. Then my car had to go for it's MOT Test (this is the annual roadworthy-ness inspection for cars in the UK) By the time it was finished, it was getting dark and it was just too cold for cycling. So I've had an enforced rest day (not a bad thing I suppose but it'll make it harder tomorrow).
However, the MOT tester said that he could see that my car hadn't been used much due to the number of cobwebs on the underside of it (seems he has an aversion to spiders). I checked the mileage from last year and found that it had done 4394 miles since its last inspection. In that time, I have walked 1293 miles and cycled 6105 miles. So I've travelled nearly double the distance of the car by self-powered means.
I'm pretty impressed by that. My teenager thinks that it's hilarious and wants to know why I even have a car. I'm not telling her that it's going to be my loose-skin removal surgery fund when the time comes as I think she's planning to take it off my hands when she learns to drive - ha, NO chance43 -
