Hihi, I guess you ended up winning, with the dog still standing there going "WTF! she never does that!"
My mom's dog now hates going on 'walks' with me. Dog is obese by dog standards, so 'walking' with me is quite a work out for it. I do make sure to plan the 'walks' so that we pass the pond at the halfway point so it can get a drink (and make dog go swimming... it's good for it ). Ever since I started, it has lost about 1kg (still about 7kg overweight, which is HUGE on a beagle)
I love hearing how our fitness walks make dogs fit too. Thanks for the story. It gets so hot here in Florida that I can't take Ellie out as much in the summer, but in these winter months we do two miles several times a week. Even if there was a pond we couldn't stop due to those pesky alligators.12 -
For the first time ever have I over-achieved my protein goal today (I pre-log all my food first thing in the morning). I am replacing my added sugar calories with protein calories. I am amazed at how much more dense food I can eat when I am not drinking added sugar.
Oh, and I have grown out of my first piece of clothing. It is hanging on my body like a potato sack. It feels amazing. Only sad part is that I actually liked this piece. I ll take it though.24 -

Lol the most dangerous thing around here are wild boars (scary *kitten* to meet in the forest) but those are usually only out and about close to the settlements at around twilight (so mornings and evenings when the sun's going up or down). So no worry about pesky alligators in the pond.
The dog currently fits with the overall theme of the family (overweight or obese). I figured I'll try to make it profit from my journey. It's a hunting dog, it needs the exercise even if it's as lazy as I used to be.
(PS: weighed it this morning: 18.7kg. It started somewhere above 20kg, so that's more than 1kg lost now )
Does that count as a SV for the dog or a NSV for me?25 -

This is pretty amazing. I used to work in a vet practice and it's really hard to get animals to shift weight (or persuade their owners to help them). So well done you. That dog has lost over 7% of its original weight. That's a considerable amount when you think about it.11 -

Especially when you consider that
a) it's a trash compactor on 4 paws and permanently hungry (it will eat anything and everything it gets its paws on). I'm going to try and bulk her food with veggies to see if added low calorie volume might help.
b) it suffers from epilepsy but we can't risk giving meds (mother died from the side effects of epilepsy meds), but running with me actually seems to have helped stabilize the situation (burning off the nervous energy and taking the mind off food?) and the vet urgently advised gentle weight loss to help the situation.
c) it thinks its the beta in the house (it accepts me as alpha and treats my parents as omegas... It actually is kinda sad, but I can't seem to get the message across to my parents that it's a dog, not a human and needs to be treated as such, i.e. consistency in orders and reaction to non-compliance, no scraps from the table, no food outside of the fixed meal times, etc...)
BTW that 7% loss was over the past 6 months. I'm trying to take it as slow as possible to avoid triggering an epileptic episode in case food and food anxiety really are the main triggers (what we suspect).
It's hard work losing weight when you're the one in charge of yourself. It's agonizing when it's a pet and there are other people involved in said pet's primary care (I work full-time, so I'm not home a lot).7 -

I was tiered of listing to mom whine about what needs to be done. So I decided to just do it. Now she's whining about how I'm successful and she's not. :eyeroll:
(Side note: I love my parents, even if it sometimes doesn't sound like it, and would do anything to help them. It's just frustrating me sometimes.)12 -
I hated my life yesterday and really didn't want to go and meet my running group; did it anyway as I had decided this was not negotiable until the race in Mid-May. Wasn't so bad and I felt way better afterwards. :-)24

I signed up for my first real 5k today!!! It is on Mother's Day and I'm super excited... this is from the girl who has ALWAYS said I would never pay someone to make me run... oops!

I did 15 military push ups today. To think of it last month I couldn't even maintain my balance coz of my body fat. Only could do a 15-20 seconds plank but today i did it!!!25

I managed to wiggle out of my pajama pants while sleeping last night. lol Now hubby won't stop teasing me about the pajamas that look like "elephant skin" on me. Time for more pajamas like everything else in my closet.17 -
I did my fastest 5k the other day and gave it everything I had. I walked a while to cool down and realised I had recovered quicker than expected. I was approaching a massive hill near my home and decided to sprint up it. Previously I had only managed to get half way up, but this day I sprinted up the whole thing. I've decided that on my shorter runs (anything under 4 miles) that's how I'll finish.29

Preplanning food is a lot of this. That IS a win.
Regarding pants falling down. You can take a piece of elastic and tie a knot in it and use it to hold up your pants. We called it a "belly band" and we used it to wear the family slip. One slip, four daughters. I pulled the top of the slip up a lot so it didn't show under my clothing. You can also take a fork used to lift meat roasts from a pan and a cutting board and stab a new hole in your belt. No point in purchasing new until you have to.12 -
2 people (one my husband) told me today that I look like I'd lost weight. I have not lost a single pound but I decided to take measurements and I have lost 3 inches (1.75 from waist and 1.25 from hips). Maybe this evening I'll measure my thighs too. I kind of feel like they are getting a smaller. Or maybe that's just wishful thinking.22

No cycle ride today due to "life" and the weather. Daughter lost her debit card so she was panicking and that took some sorting out as everything has to be a drama with her, plus it rained, that horrible misty rain that soaks everything in seconds. Then my car had to go for it's MOT Test (this is the annual roadworthy-ness inspection for cars in the UK) By the time it was finished, it was getting dark and it was just too cold for cycling. So I've had an enforced rest day (not a bad thing I suppose but it'll make it harder tomorrow).
However, the MOT tester said that he could see that my car hadn't been used much due to the number of cobwebs on the underside of it (seems he has an aversion to spiders). I checked the mileage from last year and found that it had done 4394 miles since its last inspection. In that time, I have walked 1293 miles and cycled 6105 miles. So I've travelled nearly double the distance of the car by self-powered means.
I'm pretty impressed by that. My teenager thinks that it's hilarious and wants to know why I even have a car. I'm not telling her that it's going to be my loose-skin removal surgery fund when the time comes as I think she's planning to take it off my hands when she learns to drive - ha, NO chance43 -
My husband has started singing "You Can't Touch This" every time I walk by because most all of my work pants have turned into MC Hammer pants!65

The bathtub is taking a lot longer to fill up! Less volume in the water is making the water start to turn cold before it's full!30

Wearing size 12 jeans today for the first time (this time around)! They are a bit snug still but they work! It's also laundry day and I had nothing else to wear so these fit at the PERFECT time
Started at a snug size 18 on Jan 5th33
