Halo top ice cream

Arctic Zero is another great brand. They have a salted caramel that is wonderful. It is only 35 calories per 1/2 cup serving and 150 calories for the entire pint. I have found them at Walmart.3

I was surprised that Fred Meyer didn't have a better price on it. I'll have to check again. Trust me, I spend plenty on quality food - I'm not sure why that price threw me!0 -
They have them at our Walmart now! My favorite is the Birthday Cake one, but I also like Cookies and Cream. My husband loves the Peanut Butter one and the Sea Salt Caramel. I didn't like Strawberry or Lemon. Vanilla is okay.0

I personally dislike the birthday cake flavor I like the sea salt caramel flavor and chocolate. Enlightened has good flavors as well the caramel oatmeal cookie crunch is pretty good. I also think it tasted amazing.
That's funny! I love the birthday cake flavor...it's in my freezer now.
@srk369 - that's hilarious!!!
Op- you've heard feedback for this flavor on both sides
Another point for birthday cake here. I have not one but two pints in my freezer.0 -

I don't care for ARctic Zero. It does not seem like ice cream in texture and the flavor is weak. Its kind of like a watered down version of something icecream-like.2 -
I got mine from my local Meijer store they were selling them for $3.75. I think it's a store or location thing. I know my local store it's always full! Haha so my benefit .0 -

Yeah, I think $7 would make me think twice. I only buy it every couple of weeks (1 for me and 1 for my husband) and it already feels expensive. But then, my husband is celiac and I'm kinda used to GF prices already!0 -
I agree with @adebernardi about Arctic Zero. I LOVE Halo Top! Have tried the mint chip and chocolate flavors so far and LOVE them. Dying to try Salted Caramel and Red Velvet but can't find them in my local stores1

Interesting, @StaciMarie1974 . I will definitely have to try Halo. I love the arctic zero so I may find new favorite after trying Halo.0

I'd say lower calorie. Which doesn't mean healthier...
One serving of the pint I have in the freezer right now is 60 calories, 2g fat, 2g fiber and 6g protein. You think that's "unhealthy"?
I personally wouldn't call it healthy. The sugar alcohols give me all sorts of issues. I'd rather real icecream made with cream, sugar and eggs and all the calories.
It's a low calorie alternative that allows people to fit" icecream" in to their diet.
Milk, cream, and eggs are the first three ingredients and the sugar alcohols do absolutely nothing to me. Just because one person's body reacts to it differently doesn't immediately mean it should be considered 'unhealthy' by everyone. But that's a decision everyone has to make for themselves.
I had a coupon for a free pint of Enlightened, which like Halo Top uses erythritol instead of sugar. One serving upset my stomach mildly.
I'm not using this article to make a case for or against Halo Top; just providing information:

...One of the reasons for the low calorie count per serving is the "fluff factor". You see, a half a cup of Haagen Dazs weighs 102 grams (just over 3 ounces), whereas a half cup serving of Halo Top weighs just 66 grams (2 ounces and change). Basically, with Halo Top you are getting one third less product, or conversely, with Halo Top, you get a lot of air per serving.
...3 sweeteners are used, the primary one is erythritol, a sugar alcohol with a low calorie count. It may cause digestive discomfort, bloating, and excessive gas. The second sweetener used is organic cane sugar, a pretty name for table sugar. The last ingredient listed is Stevia, a zero calorie sweetener that is the darling of dieters, despite the fact that its manufacturing process is anything but natural.
The higher protein value of Halo Top ice cream compared to other ice creams is due to the fortification of the product with milk protein concentrate, a dirty little trick that food companies often use to bulk up the protein numbers of snack bars and other items.
In order to replicate the smooth taste of a fat filled ice cream, various additives are employed - glycerin, carob gum, and and guar gum.1 -

I looove their ice cream. Its creamy and tasty and doesnt taste "diet"-y at all imo. Ive tried the sea salt caramel and chocolate mocha chip flavors and have loved them both. I also had a coworker who tried the oatmeal cookie flavor and she said it was really good. Definitely part of my diet moving forward0 -

I like the Artic Zero Salted Caramel and their Vanilla Maple flavor. That's about it lol0 -

LOL, that adding milk protein is a 'dirty little trick'.
Paranoia will destroy 'ya.....7 -
Been really curious. Glad you posted the question!0

That just means the total ingredients in Haagen Dazs are denser than the total ingredients in Halo Top. It doesn't (necessarily) have anything to do with "air."
Milk protein concentrate is simply protein isolated from milk, so you don't get the fat/carbs - and therefore Calories. It's not a "trick."
Basically, what I'm saying, is that article is utter nonsense and seemingly a bit of fearmongering.9 -
I only tried vanilla and did not care for it, I felt like I was eating sheetrock compound. The $4.99 a pint price is high but if I liked it wouldnt be an issue. Maybe I need to give another flavor a shot.1

Also, soft serve ice cream and 'whipped' ice cream (like Edie's) are whipped with air to make them creamier, and they end up with fewer calories.
Guess what, they taste better too....1 -
Halo Top is my new favorite treat. Oatmeal cookie is my fave, but like others have said it has little bits of oat in it. I actually like it though. Birthday cake is also good. I've found it on sale at Kroger for $3.99.2

I think the pistachio is amazing, but I also think its different, I can literally have two spoonfuls and be satisfied whereas if I actually ate regular ice cream out of a pint or half gallon there would be no way two spoonfuls would satisfy, in fact if I want real ice cream I buy those mini ice cream cones because they are proportioned because I don't trust myself to eat half the pint.1

PB Cup and Smores are my favorites. I have it with a little bit of Walden Farm no Cal Choc Syrup (Takes some getting use to) and a few choc chips almost every night as my last meal. I make it fit my cals0

I have read nothing but absolute horror stories about that brand. I will not be deceived into giving it a try.1 -

Oooh, I'll try whipping the next ice cream I try, lol

I'll keep that in mind if I see it on sale, but no promises. LOL0 -

I tried the lemon and the Choc almond. Hated it! Horrible aftertaste. Maybe another flavor would be beter but not sure I'll try. Might as well threw money in the garbage.0

It must just be me, because I bought the peanut butter and it was awful. I ate a few bites and haven't touched it since. I like to make low calorie substitutions, but in this case I'll just eat regular ice cream.0

I love Market Basket. They have great prices, selection, and have never let me down for produce that is hard to find elsewhere. There isn't one close by me so I plan to go after I visit my Mom.0
