In the late stages of a weight cut, how do you overcome the low energy feeling?0
-
should I be eating back the calories gained from exercise. I.e. eat 1400 burn 600?1
-
The end of the weight cut really starts at the beginning, being disciplined and not needing to cut out a lot of food, just restricting calories to where you are losing weight. A coffee with some healthy fats, coconut oil, never goes astray to help through the long training sessions either.2

What are your qualifications?13

Are you familiar with intermittent fasting? I'm doing the 16:8 version, but given my schedule, I can't work out fasted. Will i get the same results? And why do they suggest low carb for IF? Is that really necessary? And how low carb are we talking?1

Hi Cheryl,
With intermittent fasting, studies have shown over a 24 hour period, your body will burn the same amount of calories irrespective of when the calories were consumed, therefore it comes down to individual preference whether you can get the most out of your workouts being fasted or not and whichever makes you mentally feel the best for your workout.

I don't have any certifications, although have studied a bachelor of science so understand the basic scientific processes and metabolism of the human body, along with keeping up to date with research and trial and error for myself and my own experiences

The best way to deal with exercise is not to account for it. As long as your exercise is fairly constant, I wouldn’t adjust your food intake. Calories burned from exercise is just a rough estimate and every person responds differently, also over time if you are performing the same exercise your body becomes more efficient at not using energy and you burn less calories. I recommend just tracking calories from food, and if you happen to be losing weight to fast from the amount of exercise you are doing then you can increase your calories. The calories provided in my fitness pal are just an initial estimate to start with. As you get more data on your body you will be able to customize your own calories based on your goals.

Who are "they"? I've never seen a low carb suggestion for IF. Low carb is just another dietary choice

How am I supposed to accurately log chicken breast? I eat boneless/skinless chicken breast daily and there are many, very different nutritional values listed. Some are almost double what an other would say in terms of calories. This is true even when I google it, 4 oz 200 calories, another saying 4 oz 100.... So what's the truth?2

Weigh your chicken raw before you cook it. Find a USDA entry for raw, boneless, skinless chicken breast.1 -

You can't deny facts and scientific research I'm bridging the gap between people and this research.1

Do you mean you've completed a bachelor's or you've taken some classes toward a bachelor's? Asking for a friend.

Why coconut oil in coffee? Particularly if female with a relatively low calorie intake needed for weight loss?
Are you aware that MFP uses the NEAT method and therefore advising people not to fuel their workouts if using MFP as designed could actually cause them harm?
And if someone is fatigued as they approach goal weight do you not think before advising them it may be pertinent to ask for further information such as how much they have to lose, their current calorie intake, do they exercise and how do they account for the calories from those workouts, what do their macros looks like (eg are they getting enough protein and fats), how long have they been eating at a deficit, have they ever taken a diet break?
Honestly, if offering to answer questions you need to show some credibility by giving an informed answer and not a stock might not be applicable one.5 -

Studied it for two years then moved on to bigger better things not to do with nutrition and exercise.0 -

If you used your so called intellect and understood the context of the question then maybe you would understand that everybody is different and not everybody will feel the same or achieve the same results from the same diet.
Which is why it was suggested you get more information to be able to give a more customised answer, not a stock standard "one size fits all" answer...5 -

That's my point, you can't answer without knowing context but you didn't ask for nor were given enough information to give a specific to their situation/s answer.
My questions stand.4 -

Uh, that was kind of her whole point to you.
Also, you might want to try not being rude to people who have been around here a long time (or anyone else for that matter), and have just as much knowledge, if not more, about this whole game.2 -
I feel I answered this correctly if there was anymore follow up question then they could be asked. Sometimes a general answer is what people want, giving where they are up to in what ever they are doing they can implement and try.2

Well if that was her own point then why didn't she get it? All I wanted to do was start discussion and see what people had to offer. Looks like people of forums are all the same and don't actually want to learn and just want to bully people.

I really don't think think that holding someone purporting to provide advice to people to a decent standard is bullying. You have held yourself out as a resource. Clearly, people have attempted to make use of that resource. Attempting to establish whether the resource is reliable isn't bullying, it's responsible and community-minded.6

The thing is, if people come here not knowing some of the basics, giving them answers that are not full and specific they will only end up worse off. A little knowledge can be far worse than no knowledge.3 -

Yes but if you read the question then you will see it asks what I do my answer is what I do. I don't understand just simply giving the information that I use you don't need a phd to be able to review scientific papers.1
