Yep.
One of the things that drove me back to MFP, and hopefully to long term success, was what happened after the one time I lost weight and gained it back. It was about 30 pounds. The clothes that I wore the last time I was at this weight did not fit as they did before the weight loss. I learned that I put on FAT when I regained the weight.
I had already been experiencing the change in body composition that comes with aging and staying the same overweight amount. My weight number was stable, but my shape sure had been changing. When I got back up to the same weight I was at before I started the competition I had parts that now literally jiggled. Parts that had not jiggled before.
Maybe this should be in an Ah ha! thread?
That's very interesting!
I finding that shaving as am losing fat weight takes less time than before. I guess because there is less ground to cover now that my face is slimmer.
I was JUST about to comment that shaving legs is much easier and quicker!
opposite for me behind my knees and armpits and stuff have hollow holes now that make shaving much harder and cutting myself much more likely XD
I was just about to say it seems to take me more time. Now I have to watch for the humps of my ankles and knees and behind my knees is a nightmare now that it's so hollow.
I didn't know anyone ever shaved behind their knees. How did I not know about this?
I'm invoking old lady rights to not bother with shaving very often anyway.22 -
awesome thread! love it2

That doors will get a lot heavier....

How weird bones are. My hip bones started appearing months back... started all normal and hip boney but lately when i lay certain ways their just...different? seem to poke more out of the side vs just the front and finding all these bones is freaky enough without them constantly changing XD Finding the bones in the centre of my butt freaked me out the most. I mean i love it but stop changing so much im trying to get use to this body but its just changing to much lol. Bones adding "curves" in places curves have no right to be11

That I'm less prone to falling over as my balance is better. It's bugged me for ages as to why it's the case but today I worked it out.
My centre of mass is now directly above my legs, instead of a few inches further forward.26 -

Oh, is that the secret?! I've found that it's a lot easier to catch myself if I stumble than it used to be, I'd always fall over before (especially in winter).10 -

I find this so true! My fanny and thighs have always been my "trouble" spot when it comes to weight, but now that I have lost weight I seem much less clumsy. I always felt uncoordinated or awkward, but that has lessened with the weight loss.
I didn't realize it until I read your post - THANKS! That made my day13 -

That my 9 year old son (who admittedly is overweight but we're working on it) is getting a better sense of portion sizes, is going out to walk and run without my encouragement, and is thinking about fiber and protein.40

That things regarded as "childish" are such fun to do as an adult once you can do them again
Earlier today I took my children to the park and the only place to sit down was on a swing. Wasn't sure if I'd fit on it, as it's been a long time . . .
So I sat on the swing. And I fit, with room to spare. Then I started to swing, because, naturally, that is what you do on a swing. Then I was swinging higher than my children were. It was terrific fun. My children either thought that I was completely mad, or that I was a really cool mum. Or possibly both. And the swing survived53 -
No one ever told me - how much less I buy at the grocery.
A trip to the grocery used to include impulse items and stocking up on sale items that were regularly used in my house. That model is not working any more. Impulse items are rarely worth the calories from my budget and I just don't need to stock up. Last week the grocery had Helmans Mayo BOGO. DH told me not to purchase it because he just opened a new jar and he didn't want it to sit on a shelf for a year. Now I rarely use canned soup as part of a recipe but used to regularly incorporate "Cream of ____" soups. So I'll buy soup on sale but I don't "stock up." I am trying to use up the old stuff in my pantry and freezer and there is still a lot to go.
Part of this is still learning to go from feeding four to feeding two as the kids have moved out. We still buy protein in bulk and freeze it. I will cook a full recipe, because that means I am cooking dinner for at least two nights as we like leftovers. But the overall sheer volume of food is so much less.21 -
You'll get sick of explaining how you did it and how much more you want to lose. Today I am anyway because it means raised eyebrows and scepticism followed by lectures on how carb reductions the only thing that will really work blaaaa blaaaa blah20

I've gotten that lecture once.
My reply? "I didn't cut out anything I didn't want to cut out. I just had to find space for what I wanted in my calorie budget."
"Well, if you don't cut carbs-"
"Let me show you my log." Five minutes later. "Science. It works, *kitten*!"21 -

I stock up on different things now. Frozen vegetables. Lean cuts of meat... Pork loin was $0.99/lb this week, and boneless skinless chicken breasts $1.99/lb last week, for example. I bought a lot of Creamette 150 pasta at $1/box, too.9 -

I agree with this, but right now I have so much already stocked up that I am trying to eat it down.
I know... First World problems.8 -
That I would be such a huge hypocrite to myself. I was always the one that said I would never enjoy running. But the more I run, the more I want to see how far I can go. I also said I'd never give up my favorite meals, but as I've started to eat healthier, they are no longer my favorite meals. I don't crave the fried and fattening meals that I used to frequent.28

So yes to this - It really gets to me at times. Explaining people, including that it has taken me over three years. The the denial that it can't be that simple to the point wheren they just about accuse you of lying. *sigh* people -- gotta love them, but some of them Not so much9
