I understand that fats, fiber, water and exercise may help with constipation.2

Actually, I got figs confused with dates (which make some girls cry, some smile, and something about lady muscle contractility). My bad.1 -

I don't really like peanut butter either, and don't usually want honey (it's good in some recipes, of course). And sometimes I want 9 or 10 almonds!
It's weird I'm not constipated.2 -

Before you go with any medical options, make sure you are getting enough fiber, fat, and fluids in you (the "3 F's" of a healthy colon). If your fiber is really low, gradually add more. Suddenly doubling your fiber can cause some uncomfortable "special effects". The fat will be easier to add more in.
Women should be eating at least 25 grams of fiber (both soluble and insoluble) and men should be at least 30 grams.
What works well for me the few times I have been stopped up is nuts (fiber and healthy fats) or raw carrots (fiber and I'm not sure what else). I usually get around 30 grams of fiber a day so this rarely happens. I do eat a bowl of oatmeal every morning which really helps keep me regular.2 -

The best treatment long term is eating a well balanced diet with plenty of fibre, fats, fluids, and consistency. If what you're eating isn't working, change it until it does.
For me this meant a significant reduction in the amount of pasta I ate, and increased meat and veg consumption. But I used to eat pasta every meal pretty much every day, which is probably too much for anyone. I now eat it as a side dish, not a main dish, and only once a week or so. Maybe twice a week if I had leftovers.1 -

Take Metamucil in powder or capsule form. If you're still not going a few days after taking that see a doctor.1

This covers it quite well:

Hope that helps, I know I learned a bit by reading it.
I try and eat 40g of fiber daily which works well for me. When I eat fast food or less than nutritious food, my body doesn't respond as well. Those days I rarely get in anywhere near a healthy amount of fiber.
When eating that type of food constipation is the least of my problems! :laugh:0
