Unexpected results of weight loss

That I have to stop myself from buying too much at one size as I am still losing, but it is so exciting to buy a smaller size20

I noticed I spend more time caring for and decorating my body - caring for it in the gym and the kitchen inspires me to spend extra time rubbing on lotions, grooming, wearing makeup, adorning with jewelry - I'm not yet near my goal weight but happily I love my body again and want to treat it well all the time
I am having the exact opposite reaction. Before, I'd spend so long covering my face with make up, trying to find clothes that would fit and flatter, anything to... I don't know, try and fit in I guess. Now I walk out of the house with no make up, hair in a pony tail, (proudly) wearing jeans and a tee shirt and flip flops. I guess it's because I feel like I can pass for average now and so I don't feel like I have to dress up to impress the world and convince them not to stone me to death for being so repulsive? LOL I don't know. I still have a long way to go.35 -

I feel exactly the same. I used to feel that I had to be completely put together and neat and tidy to somehow prove that I wasn't an obese slob who didn't care about themselves. Now, I can go out with hair left to air dry and go fluffy, a pair of trackpants (still neat and clean ones though) and a plain tee without feeling like I'm being judged.16 -

My oldest was born when I was 25, my youngest when I was 39. The difference is monumental. I apologize to the oldest constantly for one thing or another that I messed up on and I also remind the youngest that he owes the older for training me. Good on ya!14 -
This is a ridiculous one, but I have to fold laundry differently. I was folding a load today, I had folded a newer pair of pj pants and set it on the table, size medium. I folded an old fat pair that with the drawstring done up tight I can still get away with, size XL, and although I had folded it the same way, I had to fold it in half again for it to sit nicely on top of the medium. Haha I chuckled to myself. My pj pants even show a NSV!!30

Rediscovering my love of cooking! Growing up I was always cooking and trying new recipes, I even considered going to culinary school. At college I got lazy and just started eating whatever was most convenient and I stopped cooking altogether at one point. Now that I've lost and am continuing to lose weight, I love finding fun recipes that fit into my calorie/macro requirements and my kitchen is starting to fill up with fun gadgets and cookbooks again!!!15

How mentally challenging it is when you are struggling during your weight loss. I was up to 85lbs lost and now I am at 80lbs lost total. I gained back 5 lbs and man for some reason this time it is messing me up mentally. I feel like a failure even though I know and can literally lose that in less than 2 weeks and this feeling is actually making me want to eat more. I know it will be rewarding in the end and I am just trying to remember how far I have came because I still have 100lbs to lose and the longer I stay in this mental state is just the longer I have to wait to reach my goal.27

I'm there with you. I just hit a milestone and the will to keep going the past couple of days has just not been there. Especially since I still have a lot to lose. For the past two days I've stuffed my face, knowing I'll lose ground. It's rough because, even though we tell ourselves we have the tools, sometimes old habits still surface.11 -
I like being able to cross my legs, tie up shoe laces and breathe at the same time, not having food control my thoughts all day long, being able to do full planks and push ups, doing heavier weights than guys, do zumba like a gazelle not hippo, less skins infections, actually wanting to care of my appearance rather than shrink away & hope nobody notices me, rediscovering clothes I've not fit for years. Oh the list is endless.14

Spring is when I take a lot of weekend/long-weekend trips. Now, at 120-some pounds rather than 180-some pounds, I can take a smaller suitcase for the same length trip, or have a partially-full rather than stuffed suitcase.
I never dreamed that the physical volume of post-weight-loss clothes would be so much smaller!18 -

I am there with both of you right now. I've just made a conscious decision to not even look at my scale until June 1. Four days in and I've been at a deficit every day since I hid the scale.11 -

This is so true and one of the "cons" of weight loss that's not discussed as much. I used to knock into things and shake it off immediately. I always thought my thinner friends were just weaklings/softies for complaining more than I did about bumping into corners.
Now without the extra cushioning, I can't shake it off anymore. I can't afford to be as clumsy. Lol.10 -

Happily, now that I've been in maintenance for a couple of years - giving me time to adjust to a new weight distribution - I've found that it's easier to be less clumsy (I think because I'm more mobile without the fat encumbrance?) than it was when I was obese.
And that's not to mention that we're physically smaller, so we're breezing through narrow aisles we used to be squeezing through.9 -

My tailbone on the bathtub when I take a bath is super painful lol.
I can run a 5k, easy. I did it Tuesday, I'll do it again tomorrow morning. No biggie. I used to have a hard time running between telephone poles - it's amazing how much easier running is when you weigh 70 lbs less.

I've always been heavy. Anywhere from 70-100 pounds overweight. So as everyone (who is heavy) knows plane flights are not something to look forward to. I didn't need to buy a second seat or use a seat belt extender but the flight was uncomfortable.
I didn't realize when I was heavier that I would always put the things that I wanted acces to during the flight in the seat back pocket in front of me. Things like my phone, computer, reading material and even snacks.
Last month I took a flight and immediately knew that I had extra room in the seat. I wasn't encroaching into the seat next to me. That was obvious. But what wasn't obvious was that I didn't pull the things that I may have wanted during the flight from my back pack beforehand. I had put my backpack on the ground under the seat in front of me. If I needed something I just bent over and reached down. Before I would've had to try and grab my back pack with my feet and do a weird sideways reach all the while I'm huffing and puffing and maybe even breaking a sweat from a self imposed embarrassment. Oh and in addition, what wasn't included in the things that I would take on a flight were snacks. I can go for a few hours on a flight without having to snack on something.

I went in to get two suits resized and was told this was too great of an alteration. So I have two suit donations to look forward to for next year's tax deductions and two new suits to purchase.

I'm thinking (for me) it's weight related. Had a thin crust pizza last night (~850 cals) and no HB. 6 months ago I would have been dying. Haven't bought Gaviscon in months and use to buy two big bottles at Costco a month.11 -
I love to feel my hip bones when I'm curled up on the couch.
I'm terrified to go shopping still BUT I've started pulling tshirts from my 11 year old sons closet if I need to throw on something comfy and head out.
(Seriously he has some good ones) and the tshirts from my 13 year old sons closet are to big (given yeah he is the size of a grown adult but still my baby)
I've somehow become a secret selfie queen. There are more pics of me in 2017 (I share very few) then there have been the past 12 years combined. Learned this while searching and searching and searching for good pics to be comparison pics. I so wish I took pics at the start of this journey.
Sex is so much better!!!!! I have way more movement and way more feelings then I use to with all the fat in the way. And I've been married almost 13 years so hubby is always the same
I still have a long way to go so it's just going to get better from here.10 -
OK, kind of a questionably-tasteful unexpected result. If I'm lying in bed with my hands on my torso, and get a digestive rumble, the tactile sensation is really quite startling! The fat used to dampen those vibrations.12
