Today our neighborhood pool opened for the season and my son asked to go. Without thinking, I walked upstairs threw on a swimsuit and we went to the pool. I hung out with my neighbors while laying on a lounge chair and didn't even put on my cover up.34

Kind of a weird NSV. I've been getting on the MFP forums less, which means that my new food and exercise routines are becoming just that...routine. I don't have to focus and heavily involve myself anymore to keep it up. I just do it 'cause now it's just what I do. I do regular exercise, I log my food, and I live my life. I have a tendency to get a little obsessed with the weight loss mentality at first, which can be a little tiring and lead to burnout. The way it is now feels really nice because really does feel like I can live the rest of my life like this.41

@AnnPT77Ok, this is a little awkward, but here it is: I had my annual mammogram this week, and the tech was behind the shield taking the image. She popped around it and asked if I had lost weight since last year; she said the images from last year looked like an entirely different person and she would have to explain why to the radiologist! So I told her I am down almost 60 lbs since then! It made me laugh a little, too, because my son is an MD who is a breast imaging specialist (and he is very proud of his mom!

Please, *everyone*, get your mammogram..
Men, with or without "moobs", please understand that if you get a lump/bump/thickening on your chest, it's *possible* that you have breast cancer. Statistically, a higher percentage of men who have breast cancer *die* of it, because they don't understand that that lump/thickening can be cancer. Men can have breast cancer. Please, check it out. Don't die.
Women: Take it seriously. Yes, it's sad that "the girls" deplete as you lose weight. Sadder still: obesity can increase the risk of breast cancer. Yes, the mammogram is uncomfortable. Let me be your witness: Mastectomy, 6 months of chemotherapy, 6 weeks of radiation: That will *change your life* even more. Stay current on your mammograms. Don't take the risk. If breast cancer happens, catch it *early*.
I feel so, so, fortunate to be a survivor of stage III (advanced) breast cancer - 17 yeas now. Obesity increases risk! But "alive" is such a better start on every single day . . . .
Wow! First, thank you so much for this important message - yes, we all are on our journey for a normal weight, and being there brings so many health benefits with it, not just those we think of first such as cardiovascular health and diabetes, but also bringing down the risk of some cancers. Please - make time for an annual mammogram where ever you are in your weight lose journey. Second - oh my goodness! I am so glad you won! Thank you so much for sharing your important, personal story. I put on a pair of a small tights and thought I looked OK. I was actually going to go to the gym in them. Yes, me -- out in public wearing something basically shrink-wrapped to my body. Granted, the gym was closed (best laid plans, as the saying goes). But, really -- I was going out into the world wearing tights!

Yesterday I cycled a little more than 20 miles. It was a great ride with my family and included a pizza lunch and a movie later with popcorn. Today I ran for 1.75 miles outdoors in the world, not on a treadmill. I think I'm finding my fitness groove I have been searching for, and it seems that I am not much of a gym person and need to be out in the world doing my thing.22

Just came back from a memorial weekend getaway trip. I met some family members. My cousin could not stop commenting on how much weight I lost. It's been 6 months since I last saw her. She kept asking how I did it. I told her I did it the old fashioned way, eating what I want in moderation, keeping a log of my intake and walking. No gym and no diets. No unnecessary expenditures. I kept recommending MFP as an excellent tool to keep track of caloric intake. I inspired her and my aunt to start walking!19

Thats exactly how I feel! I go to the gym during the week in the winter and snowshoe and cross country ski on the weekends. The rest of the year I don't go to the gym at all. Instead I hike, run, bike, or paddle. For me, anytime spent outside is a thousand times better that time inside
My nsv is that we are having our first hot spell of the season. It's about 25C which may not seem outrageous for some of you, but it is where I live lol. Anyway, my nsv is that despite the heat I was able to cut the grass and then take the dog for a walk. Before I lost weight I would have spent the time sweating in a chair and not had the energy to move.14 -

I know I'm doing this for me and I see and feel the difference in my figure, but to hear good words from others just makes me so happy, both for the fact they think I look good and are proud of the hard work, but also that I have such amazing and supportive people around me. 21 -
I just noticed another NSV this morning. I enjoy wearing belts with my blouses for work. All my medium belts were big around the narrowest section of my waist. So I had to buy small size belts. Fortunately for me I happened to be in a clothing store that had some on sale for a great price. Anyway, this morning I noticed I'm using the last buckle on my small belts. Just another tiny progress 17

This is a little silly perhaps but I was rubbing my shoulder somewhat absent-mindedly this weekend and I noticed that I am considerably firmer and stronger in my arms. I am starting to see actual triceps and biceps definition! That was a discovery that made me very happy, that I am not only losing weight but I am getting stronger too 15

Got a you look fantastic in the elevator this morning. Made my day.
Needed to replace a pair of pants that were too big. Found some at the thrift store for under $3 a size down from before.
Each year they have a Mayors bike ride in Des Moines. When I saw the route I said I would not want to go that way as it would have too many hills. (other years the ride had gone the other direction around). Yesterday I rode the route and was able to make all the hills and completed 20 miles in under 2 hrs.
Have ridden every day in May so far and over 430 miles.

I had about three people call me skinny this weekend. Also, was up on the roof doing the gutters with my SO, and my cousin looked up and said, "I thought you were your daughter!!". Made my weekend!20

I'm finally starting to see my muffin top shrinking. I do have quite a bit of loose skin tho... Hoping it will tighten up but not gonna hold my breath.18

This weekend my husband and I did our monthly family 5K. It was our fastest pace yet and I shaved a full 8 minutes off of my time from earlier this month. Our daughter is 22 months and did the 1K fun run! I am so proud, both of my husband, who I really pushed, and of Little Bit, who may have been the youngest one out there. I am incredibly proud of MYSELF for leading by example.31

I went wayyyyyyy over my calories this weekend. My nsv is that I didn't throw in the towel. I logged it and am moving on. If I gain, it's ok since I know that I just need to follow the plan and I can undo what I did.30

A couple of running NSVs! I dropped my car off for service and then RAN back home 3.8 miles! I also started back up with my 10k training and was able to comfortably run 4.8 miles in under an hour.. I may be slow but definitely building up my endurance, 6 months ago I could not run a half mile without feeling like I was going to pass out!
Other NSVs
- Went grocery shopping and filled my cart with veggies, fruits, and healthy options without thinking twice about it.
- I wore a t-shirt a friend gave me all day and only realized it was a medium when I took it off! Before this my XL shirts were starting to be too tight...21 -
I passed up cake and cupcakes three different times last week.20

I was doing shoulders at the gym Sunday morning. While I was doing upright rows, I could see a lot of striation and structure in my deltoids. I loved it!18

A few years ago I bought a couple of sleeveless shirts I thought were cute, but noticed when I got them home how fat and flabby my arms were, and never wore them. Rediscovered them while cleaning out old clothes to give away, and decided to give one a try. Husband: "Is that new? You look cute!" My arms have a lot of loose skin from weight loss now, but also visible muscle, and I'm not ashamed of the way they look now!20

I cycled a little over 60 miles today.
It's a long story . . . but considering how far that is, my backside isn't as sore as I thought it would be. Thankfully 23 -

I put my jeans in the dryer so that they can shrink and fit better.... Well that's different! I almost always hang to dry my clothes so they keep their shape and won't shrink.... now I NEED them to shrink!!24

Today I actually wore my exercise capris and a form fitting tank top out in public without a shirt to cover up. I still have a Longgggggg way to go, but I'm on my way.27

I got measured today and I lost 6.5 inches from my waist (measured at my navel) since 1/18/17! Down 13 inches from my waist since last June. I recently started wearing a size 2 and still can't believe I fit into them. I love it29

I have a bunch of barely-worn medium t-shirts, because every time we go to some tourist trap or roadside oddity we buy a shirt for posterity. Since they're not really broken in, I usually have to kind of stretch them out as I'm putting them on so they don't squish my boobs. This morning getting ready for bed I put one on and was a little taken aback how it just slid on with no stretching.
So long boobies!
This is a pretty minor NSV, but I need to look for positives today because I just had some bloodwork come back with wonky results. No diagnosis yet but it fits the profile for the beginnings of NAFLD. I know I'm on the right track to get it in check and be healthy again but it's still scary.20 -
11.37 am in the UK.
So far I have:- Been for a 20-mile cycle ride
- Completed Week 6 Day 3 of C25K with my son - we ran (must stop saying run, we plod along) to the local strawberry farm which opened today
- Picked 5kg of strawberries. I'm now eating a bowlful. Yum! Very sweet and juicy. Looking forward to more later
And my son has just asked if we can go for a bike ride together. I can't say "no", can I?20 -

I've such a major change in energy levels. I used to sleep 9-10 hours, drink 3 cups of coffee and still drag. Now I sleep 7-8 hours, have 2 cups of coffee and ready to hit the gym in the morning.
Its like getting a part of my life back!27
