Yeah, search in "Groups" - there is an active Keto community, but not in the main forums - which are much more mainstream.

I've come to the conclusion that MFP is not very popular amongst Keto people. Net carbs aren't expressed in the tracking info, so explains why. If you dare provide feedback about this omission, non-keto members will respond with hostility. They feel you should track it yourself, and it's absolutely impossible to write such a change into the program.....

non ketoers are not hostile there is a reason why mfp wont change the program.its easy to track carbs, you just subtract the fiber from the carbs/sugar alcohols. lots of people here do keto. its a us based site and we dont have net carbs on our food labels either so thats probably one of the reasons why its not written into the program. but not sure.

Not sure what you are complaining about. Here is the link how to add net carbs.

It can't be auto put on the site as the rest of us (Uk, Europe etc) labels are already NET so it would corrupt all our data and labels.

I'm surprised anyone does keto. I would never sign up for a diet with so many restrictions. I love my fruits and veggies too much! Add to that, it's completely unnecessary for weight loss and I just don't see the appeal.

There are MANY, many keto people here. Most ignore the main forum, and instead post in one or both of these groups:

    http://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/group/394-low-carber-daily-forum-the-lcd-group

    http://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/group/1143-keto

These groups are a much better source of keto information than this main general board.

There's keto threads created multiple times a day... I'm sure there are plenty of keto people and groups - perhaps use the search function to find them?

For goodness sake. No, requests aren't met with hostility. They're met with a very sensible, reasoned explanation of why a net carbs field would be flawed to the point of uselessness right from the outset. The fact that people still want to see it implemented, even knowing that it would be inherently flawed, is ridiculous.

it helps those who have type 2 diabetes, pcos, insulin resistance and some seizure disorders.its been proven effective for those things as it helps with glucose/insulin levels.so that is why many do keto. some people find it helps them to not overeat because of carb cravings.its not for everyone but for some people its very beneficial.

Then you have those who think that they will lose a lot of weight doing keto due to burning body fat instead of the dietary fat as energy and that they can eat as much as they want and still lose weight. They think they will lose fat and weight faster than they would with just a regular deficit. They think that because they lose 5-10 lbs a week the first week or so that its because of the ketones(or being fat adapted) when its from them lowering carbs and its mostly water weight/glycogen.

There are many more keto people than use mfp.
And many more keto people using mfp than commenting on the community pages.

i am keto and love it! its not as restricting like so many other diets. i thought I would miss bread, pasta and fruits, but have simply replaced them with more vegetables, meat and eggs. Love it! Down 30 lbs since Jan 1.
