@Mobycarp, I don't think we have such a thing as National Chocolate Ice cream day here. Which is just as well as I wouldn't want to be the one cleaning up the mess of that blender!!!!2

Yesterday was supposed to be a rest day before tonight's J P Morgan Corporate Challenge, but I couldn't miss Global Running Day, so I went for a very leisurely 3 mile run. It was a beautiful evening with plenty of other runners all grinning at each other in the sunshine (the weather here has been vile recently)

@Sliedur Congrats on that run! I've read many times here, from others that have done the C25K program, that the three-minute runs are actually quite a hurdle; so it's a great achievement that you've accomplished.
@PinkamenaD8 Fantastic PR, well done!
@BruinsGal_91 Good luck with tonight's race!
Today was another easy run, with a few miles of warm-up before meeting up with the group to run with them. And then finally, while they finished off with some cool-down exercises, I continued on for another mile or so to make my way back to the office.

Goal for June. Finish Marathon training well, taper well and run Grandma's well
Nominal mileage goal: 100
Today's notes: REST day today. I actually slept in until after 0600 this morning, well, "slept" in... the birds started chirping at 0400. Today's plan is to not run, but I do have a few hours at the park on the docket, Little Man loves the playground... So I won't be totally inactive. Other goal for the day, and every day for the next week and a half, is to drink at least 2 quarts of water, 1 with nuun, the other straight water.
Have a runderful day all!

afternoon swim - much much better than the previous swims - getting the hang of breathing a bit more now - like remembering to breathe in!!
7/6 1.76 miles plod. Need to run further, this isn't far enough for me to get into the groove of it so it feels awful
8/6 3.57miles. working my way back up to more regular running. legs still aching somewhat from the strength training.
Todays comments -
woke earlier than my alarm which is good as I can train my body back into that - and actually GET up to run before work. Even managed to wear a matching pair of shoes!!! This mornings run was ok, but tough at the end. My hamstrings are aching from the squats on Tuesday, but hopefully this aching will lessen each time I do squats.
Abandoning my ideas to run with the club tonight - the legs wouldn't like it, plus I need to make sure I'm home before 10pm as I haven't yet voted in the General Election.
Races/events:
1st June - Burrington Blaster 8k ish moorland race - Helping on the Aid Station not running
30th July - Dorset invader HM5 -

5 1/2 easy miles this morning. I started having soreness in my Achilles tendon yesterday after running. I iced and did calf stretches every two hours. It is feeling a little better this morning. I might take a rest day tomorrow, depending. We will see how it feels.
(June miles to date) 50.5/150 (June goal miles)

June 8 run - 4.5 sucktastic miles
June total - 26.1/100
Oh my. This morning's run was the worst. First off, I was butt tired so all I could manage was a mere shuffle. And then as I was crossing Jackson Street, I tripped on the curb and did a face plant right in the middle of the street. I banged my knee and elbow pretty hard but I had to get up and run to the other curb fast because a car was coming. Then I was able to walk it off for about a block before I could resume my shuffle.
I'm surprised I managed 4.5 miles. I was ready to go home at about 2.5. And now my knee and elbow ache. They both got pretty scraped up.
Tomorrow's gotta be better.7 -
@RespectTheKitty good job getting it done despite it sucking1
-
Oh @RespectTheKitty you aren't having a good time of late are you? But you know what - you inspire me - because even with this, and your hating the race the other day, you get up, dust yourself off and keep at it.

I'm going to go off plan and run my half marathon this afternoon! I just can't pass up cool and cloudy weather especially for such a long run (well long for me). It's supposed to be 88 degrees on Saturday vs 65 and cloudy today, I'm doing it today.
Will post an update after I finish!7 -

Last night Skip and I ran in The Big Run sponsored by Fleet Feet. We never ever run together in a race and Skip wanted to run with me. When we got to the turn around we ran a bit and I said honestly honey at mile 2 go and leave me. She said "can I go now" I know it was killing her running my 11+ minute pace. She still finished with a respectable 30:11 though her friend who finished 2nd said to her "Skip I've never seen you run such an awful time" ha ha boys! She finished 2nd in her AG, 82nd of 211 OA. I finished with a 34:52 13 AG and 116 OA. I passed like 10 or so people in the last mile so Skip finishing 30+ in front of me gives you some idea of how she picked up speed.
The big sponsor of the race was Brooks and they were giving away shoes, bags and sunglasses and everyone had the chance to sign an "official" endorsement. We signed with official gold Brooks pens that we got to keep, received Brooks sunglasses and will be sent a check for $1.00. The endorsement contract is funny it gives us the right to use #brooksendorsed on social media. Such a cute idea.
It really was a lot of fun. Some pictures.

Please share the peanut butter sauce recipe!0 -
My regular Wednesday Onion and WSG runs went good. Had a friend join us that's just getting back into running so I took it easy and stayed with him to make sure he didn't get lost. I'm going to try a longish run tonight. The weather's been so nice the past couple days 68 low humidity.
My planned June mileage just took a bump up. I joined this "running" group challenge at work. I'll probably do a lot of biking to supplement so I don't increase my running mileage too much.
Hope everyone's having great runs!

@ctlaws44 I'll put getting the recipe on my to do list. My wife does not always share her best cooking secrets. She will eventually when she wants me to make the sundae. I know part of the process involves heating the peanut butter in the microwave. She used organic peanut butter and it tasted even better than a good ice cream shop's topping.1

June 1- 2.8 miles(first run back!)
June 2- 30 minutes swim (800m)+ 30 minutes yoga
June 3- 3.6 miles+ 30 minutes stretching/PT
June 4- P90X3 Challenge
June 5- 32 minute swim (850m)
June 6- P90X3 CVX Cardio + 20 minutes stretching/PT
June 7- 25 minutes swimming (650m)
After cutting my swim session a little short yesterday morning due to the pool being crowded, cloudy and generally unpleasant, I was planning an evening session of P90X3 or some yoga and a short run in honor of GRD. However, as the day wore on at work, I started feeling kind of crappy and by the time I left, my lymph nodes under my arms and on my neck were extremely swollen, so I decided it was best to just take the rest of the day off. I am not sure what caused the swelling of the lymph nodes (they are still a little inflamed today, but down a bit from yesterday). I am just hoping it's not some sort of bacterial infection or virus. This is always a huge concern of mine since I take heavy immunosuppressant drugs. I hope this has nothing to do with the pool or the health club, both of which are breeding grounds for bacteria. Feeling a little discouraged after the crappy running experiences last week and now this. I have my second session with a personal trainer at the gym tonight. I am hoping it goes well and puts me in better fitness spirits.

I try. I need to get a shirt that says "I love running, I hate running" or similar.

Awesome! Thank you!! It just sounds sooo good on top of some chocolate ice cream (dark chocolate preferably). Now that's all I can think about.0 -
@skippygirlsmom- You and Skip always seem like you have so much fun together. I your relationship with your daughter...so inspiring!
@RespectTheKitty Running face plants are the worst. Kudos to you for carrying on. I hope your bruises heal quickly!0 -
@RespectTheKitty The face plant/scuffed knee is a right of passage among runners. Congratulations. It's a badge. Wear it proudly.
Everytime my PT sees my knee she's just in awe. Yup. And I ran 6 miles on it (15k race). Hurt like a *kitten* for a month. But, I'm a runner.5 -
June 1 - 3 mile run/walk, strength training, 2 mi walk

@lporter229 thank you I appreciate the compliment. We do have a lot of fun together. I'll be lost when she goes off to college next year, I'll need to train for a marathon so all my free time is sucked up. The photographer appeared to have taken a great picture of us running holding hands but I didn't see it on his website
@respectthekitty sorry for the fall, ugh that is the worst!! Your shirt needs to say "I love to run, I hate running" hope you heal up quickly. I took a nasty fall a couple years back when a neighbor was trying to get my attention during a run, I started to turn away from her to run and I tripped myself up. Ouch! I bet you stopped your watch though right
What?! It was national chocolate ice cream day!! Then I don't feel so bad for the chocolate shake I had after the race. ha ha or the beer2 -

@RespectTheKitty Oh my! I hope you're feeling better. It's amazing that you kept going. I'm pretty sure I'd have called my hubby to come and get me, lol!
@MNLittleFinn What's nuun? And why only 64 ounces?
@lporter229 P90X3 CVX Rocks! On a more serious note, I hope you feel better. Lymph nodes can sometimes swell just because they're doing their job; however, it's smart to keep an eye on things. I hope all is well soon.0
