Successes / Struggles this week: Mostly positive. The doctor said the hernia issue looks like it would heal well on its own as long as I take it easy. So I have just been going on light walks and staying my calorie range. But I have been eating high calorie foods so I have to eat less. :-(

I had a pretty good week: worked out a lot and stayed within my calorie limit, My struggle was with a jar of peanut butter. Does anyone have foods that you just can't have in the house because you'll eat too much of it?

I hear ya on the workout thing. I have been battling plantar fasciitis for two and a half years and now I have a pulled hamstring. I have been in PT for 3 months and it's a slow recovery. I can run, but slowly and it bores me like I can't tell ya. Hang in there and I hope your back will heal quickly and completely!1 -

Successes / struggles this week:
Failed on the self-control this weekend. For once it was food and not booze. Two BBQ (lunch and dinner parties) in the same day. Original plan was to be good at the first one with just grilled chicken and raw veggies. Saving up for the home made ice cream in the evening. Then the lunch dessert of fruit cups was tempting and once I had that sugar it was just a small step over to the home made cakes. Was down much more mid last week, still working to get back there. The evening BBQ came and the goal was just the maple pecan ice cream. But then I HAD to sample the made from scratch carrot cake, and then I saw the chocolate cake. I am not normally one for sweets so this was an out of character splurge and not one I am likely to repeat given the struggles with the sticky scale this week!3 -

Struggles this week: I cannot say no to bread and pasta. I've been trying to limit my intake to just one (either bread or pasta) a day rather than bread at lunch and pasta for dinner. I noticed my weight popped back up after two days of this. Unfortunately, my husband bakes fresh bread regularly so the temptation is always there.
Successes this week: Got more active and upped my 90min tennis night to twice a week. Want to find time to play 3x week (singles/doubles/training drills). With the summer heating up tennis helps with a lot of sweat/water weight shedding, but I try to keep up with drinking enough to compensate (at least 40-50 oz a day is my average).3 -

Successes / struggles this week: I struggled with my eating a bit this week and I had to slow down my weight training because I sprained a muscle in my abs. I didn't even know that was possible, but that's what the doc says. I'm supposed to be resting the muscle so I can't do things that rely heavily on my core until this is healed. Still managed to run, but I slowed down so I don't strain anything too much.

Whoops, my Weight -/+ this week: -1.1 lbs not -2 that was my monthly total so far.1

It sounds like many of us are dealing with pain issues. It sucks when our minds are geared up, but our bodies just aren't ready. For me, it takes a lot of "courage" to even get to the gym. I started up in January, and now have only gone 2 times in the past 3 weeks- due to my back being really weird. Yeah, I've got the plantar fasciitis thing going too, but I was managing that ok. I'm learning to LISTEN to my body. Even if it means gaining a few pounds back.
After a couple of intense workout months, my body is telling me to ease up. You just can't push it then go to the ER. I shouldn't need to take drugs after every workout. I just have to adjust my eating (having trouble with that) and keep a positive outlook. I just got my bike back into working order, so I hope to go for a ride tomorrow- even if it's a short one. I haven't ridden since a nasty spill I took almost 2 years ago that shook me to the core.
All that to say...this weight loss/getting healthy process takes time, much more than most of us think. It's going to take me the rest of my life, I'm guessing. I'm willing to put in the effort most days. We're almost 1/2 way done! Let's have a stronger second half and finish the month with smiles and high fives all around.2 -
