I'm now using the third extra hole I punched in my belt and I have to hitch it up to the fourth extra hole when doing my daily walk around the vineyards. I started out with my stomach hanging over the belt using the very first hole. That means I've removed at least a 2.5 inch right circular hollow cylinder from around my midsection.32

Holy $*&T! I just put on my socks by putting my calf on my knee crossed legs style. I didn't even think about it. Then all of a sudden went, "how the heck did my leg get up here?" I haven't been able to put on socks without bizarre contortions and furniture "propping" to get around my stomach in I don't know how long. Happy day!54

This is completely astounding and just goes to prove that anyone can do anything they set their mind to. If you'd told me in March that I'd be able to run/jog/plod for a solid 30 minutes I'd have said to collect your coat on the way out.

I was in the same place as you. When C25K ended I was well short of 5K in 30 mins. I basically ditched the pre-program approach and kept up running three times a week, adding a couple of minutes to each run each week. I finally got to 5K at 42 minutes.
I gradually built the distance in this way and worked in a tiny bit more speed until I hit 10K in around 1:10. This took around 8-12 weeks as I was determined to build the base slowly and not get an injury as I was still very heavy.
Always distance first to keep building the base. The speed comes easy later, trust that.
Honestly, take your time. The massive achievement you felt when completing the C25K will just keep growing into something even more powerful as you just naturally get fitter and faster. The thing I love about running is that it's predominantly about earning the ability, not really skill like other sports. I can't do ball sports to save my life, but running can come to us all if we're prepared to put in the effort and time.
I have a bleep test coming up for a job so have been playing around with short speed runs rather than my usual approach of building on distance all the time. Yesterday I PR'd my 5K in 25:50 with an ave speed of 7.2 mph. Needless to say I was really happy with that.20 -

There's a 10K program that works that same as the 5K, so there's an idea about how to proceed. The way to get faster with running is running more and going slow. Sounds counter-intuitive but eventually your pace picks up as you get "runners legs." Good luck!

I buttoned the bottom button on my lab coat with ease today. I've lost about 20 lbs, but today was the first day I felt like I have changed my body besides just becoming stronger.27

For the first time this week, I was able to do a full body bind in yoga from side angle pose and do a tree pose with my foot on my thigh and not on my calf. I can also hold a crow for longer now, although I really want to get to five breaths.27

C25k, then 10K, then half-marathon is EXACTLY how I did it! I started out with the intention of simply running an entire mile for the first time in my 42 years on this earth and just kept going...
I'll confirm that speed will come with time. Just keep racking up those miles. You'll get faster the more you do it!

So one run I do whatever the program wants me to do and the next I warm up then run as fast as I can for a very short period of time (I started with 30s and am now at 45s) then I do a brisk walk for 1:30 then repeat until I've done six sets then normal cool down. It's helped with speed and endurance for sure. I'm still not quite at 5k in 30min but I'm getting there

I had the same problem- and I did the WRONG thing by not continuing interval training and pushing for distance for a race I had signed up for. And I got an overuse injury that knocked me out for a few months. Take it slow is my advice, don't do what I did >.< And congratulations on successfully completed C25K- it is a great program7 -

I woke up EARLY to run today. As a perpetual night owl, this is a big deal for me. Although, it was way too hot. I need to get up even earlier or stick to running at night, but I'm still happy for today.20

i had a miniature reese's cup, intending to have two. i put the second one back after i ate the first one, I was happy with one instead of eating a bag.27

Maybe check out the Galloway method, it's a running technique that includes preplanned walk intervals. I've known a few runners who've had success with it.4 -
From one week to the next, my BP went from having averaged 135/90 (WITH medications) to 88/55. After a week of checking it I tapered off my BP meds and this week it has been averaging 115/70!!! It's like after dropping about 30 lbs, my body was all "WAIT A SEC!!!! I don't NEED this high blood pressure anymore!!!"38

It's because my thighs from lifting have gotten too damned big. Waist remains at thirty-four and may be 33 now.28 -
Forgot my cell phone when i went to gym today, which had all my music and my C25k app.
Instead of giving up for the day, or shortening my workout. I did the C25K as best i could remeber from the day before and my weight routine.
i have to admit it felt good to be unplugged for an hour or so.32 -
Not sure if this is too close to a scale victory to be an NSV, but I'm no longer "morbidly obese" per my BMI.49

Coworkers brought in pizza and offered me some. It was veggie supreme (but no mushrooms!) so I took a slice, logged, added some pepper flakes, and made it last. There were pieces left over, but I declined a second slice, and then when offered the last piece declined that as well.
Back in the day I would have gladly eaten three or four slices.
I know this was a while back but pizza is my kryptonite!! I hope that I can learn to leave it at one slice. I have learned to adjust crust thickness and toppings to lighten the load, but still a hard one for me to hold back on.19 -
* I bought a new dress in a size 16/18 down from 24.
* I did not eat the darn cake sitting at my house. This made me mad, I wanted it so much. So glad I didn't though. It would have made me go over on calories.31 -

Stupid, stupid weather.
Sunny this morning. Had to go to the next city for an appointment, got off the train and it was raining. I, of course, had no coat as it was really sunny when I walked to the station, so I got soaked walking to the hospital. By the time I left the hospital, it was sunny again. Got off the train back at home and the winds were horrendous.
I couldn't decide whether or not to go for a bike ride as I knew how hard it would be. However, as I always regret not doing something, I thought that I'd try and see how far I got.
By the time I got the bike out, the winds were in the region of 20mph. I get on the bike, and start pedalling, thinking that I'd probably manage a mile before heading for home.
That first mile was horrendous. Head wind all the way. Such a struggle. It was just awful. At some points it felt like I was cycling against a wall.
At the end of that mile, I'm out of the town and heading into the countryside. I don't know why but the wind always seems to be worse in the town than out of it, maybe the houses lining the streets act like a wind tunnel? Who knows.
Then, the first steep hill. Back into the headwind. I was forced into the lowest of the lowest gears and I literally crawled up that hill. I could have walked up it faster but that would have been defeating the object of the exercise (no pun intended). It was just
So I kept going, probably to the amusement of those I went past but I was beyond caring what they thought.
Another steep hill, but slightly easier as I'm now cycling into a cross wind. Manage to stay in the middle gear ratio.
Then the long, steep hill that takes me round and up a hill. Luckily, it's also a 90-degree turn, so the wind is now behind me. Not helping much as I've still got to get up the hill but better.
The road goes downhill to a junction and I'm forced to stop as there are some really selfish motorists who must have known I was out on the bike and were only there to annoy me. I mean, did they really need to be on the road?
Finally get moving again, down a hill with the wind behind me. Then another 90-degree turn and back into a crosswind. Down a little hill, up a slightly steeper one and then head for my favourite hill. The one I go down really fast. Sometimes.
However, I'm thinking that the crosswind is going to thwart my speed-record attempt today. Crosswinds seem to have this effect.
So, I peddle like a crazy person on a bike. My legs are going like pistons. I look at the speedo and see that I hit 32mph (going downhill) before the bike/gravity/momentum take over. This is a record for me.
Crouched down a bit (trying to reduce air resistance; dunno if it works but I do it anyway); speed is picking up, the bike is rattling, my eyes are watering (despite the glasses) and I'm hoping that the car in front isn't going to suddenly stop . . .
It doesn't, so I don't need to brake. Look at the speedo and . . .
Such fun! That made the struggle up to that point, and the struggle afterwards on the way home well worth the effort. Not the fastest I've gone down that hill but considering the conditions I was cycling in, I was happy with it.
Saw some interesting things today as well:
No idea why, what or how, I just enjoyed seeing them ("stand and stare" syndrome; I occasionally get the time to do this).30 -
Had to cut my workout short this morning. I was running behind schedule and didn't want to be late for work.
Decided to walk on my lunch break to sort of makeup for cutting my workout short this morning.
I've never walked on my lunch before and it was extremely hot outside, but I still walked for 30 minutes.
It's the little things.33 -
I've lost 39lbs since January and I'm down 39lbs + lots of inches from last summer. I had trouble going up the pool ladder, I'd get to the top and have to carefully turn around while the ladder was shaking and wobbling, I couldn't just squeeze through the handles at the top. Well now I can, its something I wasn't able to do before..43

I went to a restaurant I hadn't been to in a while and my favorite waiter complimented me on my weight loss. Also, I ate pho tai nam and my blood glucose stayed under control, which is a sign my weight loss has improved my insulin resistance!28

I have DOMS today! first time in a while.
Did Combat for first time in 3 weeks followed by Pump last night and today my back and shoulders are telling me they had fun! haha

Biked to yoga class yesterday, then biked to work. In the afternoon, I biked to my voice lesson and then biked home. Biking: who knew it could get you where you need to go??? Lol. I am so late to the bike commuting scene but I am happy I finally caught on.32
