Hello,
I am on a plan to loose weight, watching what I eat, eating less calories and exercise. However, the week before and during my period I always feel fatter and like bigger overall. Is it possible to see a weight change or no change during this time, and if I experience some weight gain or no change can I see a weight loss after a period has passed

This is totally normal and very common. You are retaining water weight due to your period. I believe that for some people this can also occur during ovulation, but that it's different for everyone. Most likely, you will see this extra weight drop off again after your cycle is over.

Yep. I gain right before my period and my tummy looks bigger. When I'm done it all comes off and then some. Just ignore the scale that time of the month.

It's common to gain as much as five pounds during your period and while ovulating. You shouldn't weigh yourself during these times. In fact, it's not recommended to weigh yourself 72 hours before your period is expected because you can see such a significant increase in weight gain.

Yes you'll see the change after it ends (provided you ate at a deficit indeed).

    www.weightgrapher.com
    Libra android
    happy scale iphone.
I use www.trendweight.com connected to a freely available without a fitness band fitbit.com account to perform the data entry.

All these will help you sort out your weight level over time. weighgrapher allows you to superimpose the graph of your previous 28 day cycle over your current 28 days to visually show you the differences in weigh

I will never see a loss before or during my period. In fact, if I'm going to start a deficit, I try not to start until my period is over, otherwise it's just too frustrating.

In general, I look less lean during my period. As soon as it's over, I start losing water and I look tighter and more defined. That look usually only lasts about a week before ovulation starts.

Absolutely normal. I can tell you exactly where I am in my cycle based on my weight that day. Like ill go up a little right before my period then lose like crazy after.

Looking forward for the weight loss after because now
Myself looks bigger overall like all the effort that I put in the last month is little noticeable

It'll feel like that. Even when I KNOW that's what is happening, I still get pissed and disappointed every time ha.

A lot of people say they see the pounds start to come off again a day or two into the period. Not me. Not until after and I bleed for 7-9 days. It's hell.

I'll see in my new case because before I wasn't on a plan even tough I notice myself bigger while on my period, now my first period since I started the plan, but whatever I'll just wait and still on my plan. I'm happy because I only had half a sugar free brownie two days ago that I had a craving because of this, and practically the only cheating that I had had so far, I remember before it was like almost everyday for a week, terrible

It's not cheating. Did it fit in your calorie goal? Even if it didn't, haven't a higher calorie day or two during your period is not the end of the world.

This is why I highly recommend an IUD. No more heavy periods, days of bloating and cramps, or a period at all (I hope) after a year. Or you can just take regular BC and skip the sugar pills to never have a period at all. There is no medical health "need" for a period. It's totally fine to stop them for convenience. If it bothers you or impedes your motivation/exercise....just stop having them.

IfI have been eating healthy and working out i will usually either gain a few about half a week before my period and then lose them halfway thru. Or I will maintain the whole time (and not lose. Less common). I've gained up to 7 pounds.

I weigh daily and use a trend app. It's just a data entry to me and I don't freak out anymore.

I hold on to water we like crazy. I'm on my cycle right now and I'm up 12 pounds in 6 days! I did give in to a few cravings but by this time next week I'll be back at my weight before my cycle or a pound or two less. After my cycle I go low carb, be more mindful about getting 80 oz or more of water, and try to sweat as much as possible during my workouts to get rid of the water weight faster.
