Hello, my husband and I are wanting to start the JJ Smith 10 day green smoothie cleanse. Just thought I would see if anyone has done this, has any advice or if anyone would like to join in for support. Feel free to add me if you want, we plan to start on Friday giving us a day to get all of the shopping done etc.

Have you read reviews from actual nutritionists on this? Cleanses tend to be one of those gimmicky products which aren't worth their money. Granted I don't know this specific "cleanse," but if it's like the rest of them, the general idea is to starve you (you'll lose fat but also muscle). It's probably better to make healthy lifestyle changes.6

Stock up on toilet paper. Given that 2 of you are doing it, if you don't have 2 working toilets in the house, either establish a roster or the quickest route to the nearest gas station that will let you use theirs without purchase.25

Please don't do this to yourself. Totally unnecessary and punitive.

That's really weird to get such negative replies, my husband was told this was a great way to start eating healthy and a friend recommended it to him. The stuff we looked into seemed like it was going to be a good thing to do. The stuff you use in the smoothies isn't unhealthy at all. So if you have actually looked into this one or have done it what exactly is bad about it because we aren't seeing negative things about it?2

Cleanses are unnecessary. A lot of people have no idea how weight loss or how bodies work.
Eat less and move more. Nothing more is needed.23 -
OP what are you going to consume after the 10 days? Best to eat foods you will stick with long term and will enjoy that fit into your calorie allotment. This cleanse is just a way for someone to get money off you, that's it's only benefit, although not a benefit to you.11

"Cleanses" are bunk. The best way to start eating healthy - is to start eating healthy. You're not a car, you don't need a kick start. The sooner you begin sustainable, sensible habits, the better. Starting with an overly restrictive, liquid diet almost guaranteed to make you poop your brains out is pointless and can even put you off.23 -

Including more fruit and vegies in your diet is great... But if you want to eat more healthy foods, why not just buy "healthy" foods and incorporate them in to your normal diet?
Learning how to prepare nutritious tasty meals is going to be helpful to you longterm as I doubt you want to be drinking your calories for a prolonged period.
There is nothing superior to getting your fruits and vegies through smoothies. I personally find drinking my calories makes me hungry, I'm never satiated or satisfied.
If you want a good start to your weight loss, put your stats in to MFP, get a calorie goal for weight loss, and start to learn about your intake. Weigh/measure everything you eat. Log it accurately. See how your intake aligns with recommendations - you can alter portions to fit, or start incorporating alternatives, and different options (like more vegies).

So, it's a terrible and pointless idea. There is absolutely zero need to do any kind of shake cleanse. He's been given poor advice and fallen for it. Want to eat healthier and lose weight? Then just log your food, eat at a modest calorie deficit, and you will. The reason you get the responses, is because these forums have been ridden for years with quick intro / quick fix / silly garbage remedies. You don't buy weight loss. You looked at a product/plan that is unneeded. Totally, 100% unnecessary. I've been here for 1961 days consecutively, lost 153 lbs, and have tried to give honest feedback.
Anything with "cleanse" in the title only deserves the head shaking no image.
Buy a food scale. Log your food. Figure out how much you need to eat to maintain your weight over the course of a few months, adjust to lose weight.
the replies aren't negative, they're correct and giving you the right advice. It just sounds like you wanted us to all give you a high five because you legit sounded excited about it.

A friend recommended it? Do you have to buy stuff off this "friend" to make it work?11

I think people are trying to make sure you understand that no food or beverage or series of supplements can cleanse your organs. Its not possible. If you just want to kick start a healthier lifestyle or fitness program, maybe it'll be fine and inspire you. But there's a good chance this will only help with weight loss because it's very low in calories.
Which you could do yourself by eating lots of normal foods, adding more veggies, and setting a calorie deficit. The "diet smoothie" market tends to be shady, offering big results that are either needlessly costly or needlessly unhealthy (super low calories).15 -

Right there. A cleanse won't teach you what foods are more healthful than others (you already know that anyway, right?). It won't teach you how to cook. It won't teach you how to be satisfied with a normal food intake because it isn't a normal food intake. It also won't undo whatever dietary abuse you may have put your body through.
You can do the cleanse if you want. Just know that a) it won't actually cleanse you of anything, and b) you'll still have to go about the process of forming a diet that fits your tastes and your lifestyle, just as you would if you didn't do a cleanse.15 -

You really sound like you're absolutely dead set on doing this though... or have you reconsidered?14 -
Look at it this way, if you went on a board and announced you were going to invest your money with Mr. Madoff's Miracle Money Fund, and people advised it was likely to be no good for you, are they being helpful or negative?21

No protein.
No fiber.
No need to cleanse.
Not teaching how to incorporate Healthy changes long term.
Too restrictive.12
