Had to visit the podiatry clinic today, in the new health care building in my town. There are three floors. To my surprise (not) the clinic was, of course, on the 3rd floor.
I took the stairs. There were 13 flights altogether. Plus a couple of steps outside.
I made it to the top without looking and feeling I was going to die.
All of that cycling, walking and running is paying off.
It's the little things32 -
My nsv today is that I technically finished w4 of c25k
The other nsv in this is that I'm sticking to something I don't really like to do that much because the benefit outweighs the not liking it much
@Mooma29
Firstly, well done on completing week 4 An outstanding achievement (and I really mean that, because I know how hard it is).
Secondly, you may find that you come to love running. I always hated running. I would avoid it wherever possible (and I became very good at avoiding it). Now, having completed the C25K, I absolutely love to run. I hate rest days as I just want to go out and run more. But I am sticking to running every other day as I don't want to cause an injury whilst I am still learning how to run.
Tomorrow is a running day and I am really excited about it. My son and I are going to run to the other side of our town. It's about 4.5 miles which allows for the warm-up/cool-down and we won't have to worry about running out of road - we often find ourselves looping a bit trying to get the distance in. Then we'll either walk back or get DH to collect us, but that depends on how hot it is by the time we get there

Ran 5k solid and my fastest ever mile, officially finishing the c25k! Now to get faster for a colour run in two months time, super stoked!37 -
well this nsv happened about a month and half ago but I had not written it here yet and I am just to excited to not tell the world. I finally had the courage to jumped in with both feet and signed up for my first FULL marathon! I have done 3 halves, a 10 miler and countless 5k but I never thought I would go off the edge crazy and sign up for a full. Maybe next I'll sign up for a 50k43

My first - and only so far - 5K was a color run. Loved it.13 -
Had to buy a new suit yesterday and felt great when the salesman brought out 34 inch waisted trousers. I had a 40 inch waist when I started MFP back in February.31
-
I bought jeans at H&M yesterday. Last time I could do that was in 2011!25

Person at work noticed, which then made me determined to go to the gym tonight.25
-
My alarm went off at 445am. My good intentions to run were battling with my desire to sleep. I looked at what the temps will be tonight at 7pm and decided a 5am run at 60 degrees would be way better than a 7pm run at 90 degrees. I got my happy *kitten* out of bed, put my hair in a ponytail, and put in 2.75 miles before 6am. In my "little" running shorts no less (usually wear capris, but was feeling a bit spicy today).35

THIS. A thousand times this! I've been hovering between a 14-16 for too many years now. I was never quite big enough to roll over into plus sized stores so every time I go into a store I pick up the largest size they carry and see if it fits. If it fit, I bought it, because the choices were so limited.
Good for you!
YES. THIS SO MUCH THIS. I can choose what to wear now (at first it was overwhelming and scary to have so many options because I didn't even KNOW what to do). Now I'm getting to play with all sorts of styles to see what's flattering, what colors I like, etc. I don't have to settle when I shop for clothes now!
I cannot stress how much the I don't have to settle when I shop for clothes now! is life changing.24 -
Wedding ring is too big AND a couple of weeks ago I could stop using the seat belt extender in my car. That was a great feeling.30

I know I have been reading a lot of people having issues with wedding rings being lose. Here's what I ended up getting: https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B01M0OX3EW/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
It really works great and is very discreet. I can hardly tell I have it on. Fairly cheap and highly recommended! It's also super easy to adjust, if you have to continue to make it smaller over time.8 -
I completely understand what several of you are saying about choosing your clothes rather than settling for what is available. I have more bags of clothes going to charity today. I am pretty sure only things that fit are left. Soon, I will go through everything again and get rid of the "Yes, it fits, but I do not like it" items.
The Great Purge continues: I've shredded bags and boxes of paper and donated unwanted books. I also removed the last of the carpeting from a spare bedroom I am turning into my library. The hardwood floors need to be refinished, but it is great to be creating everything just the way I want it -- from clothes to bookcases.28 -
At the Fourth of July celebrations yesterday I had my burger, chicken nuggets, pizza and other goodies and STILL came in at 1850 calories! My belly was happy and my legs were thanking me for the 10k hiking.18

Tomorrow I'm doing Week 5 Day 3 of Couch to 5K and am actually looking forward to seeing whether I can run/jog 20 minutes without stopping. This morning I've summoned up the nerve to go to my first barbell class at the gym. My attitude is changing as I'm getting more confident in my strength and discipline!22

So, on the clothes topic, I'm between an L and XL right now. Was in one store looking to find a shirt for Canada Day, and all that was left was XXL and larger.
Second time this has happened to me and it ticks me off more than it should.22 -
A random stranger just made an offhand comment about me being skinny! ME! I know he was just being nice, but nobody has called me skinny in at least 4 or 5 years. Day MADE! Thank you kind stranger!26

I've just downloaded the C210K app.
Well, you have to make more challenging goals in life, right?
Had a look through and it doesn't look that horrendous. Plus I get to start at Week 9. Back to intervals.
Who knows, by the end of August I may be running 10k at a reasonable rate.
Not sure if my son will be up for it. I'll have to work that one into a conversation.27 -
I have several NSV's this past week.
1. In the month of June I made a goal to walk a half a million steps. I walked over 560,000 steps.
2. I bought a one size fits most skirt. I wore it and I felt fantastic in it. In the past I haven't been able to do this. I even felt comfortable enough to buy it without trying it on.
3. I went to the gym yesterday, on my day off (normally won't go on my day off unless the boyfriend comes with me.) by myself.
4. Tried the circuit course yesterday. (normally just do the treadmill, or bike.)
5. My boyfriend picked me up and through me on the couch yesterday. (playing around) I haven't had anyone pick me up since before my almost 18 year old daughter was born.24 -
Today is my one year MFP anniversary!!
On a related note, my profile has always said under My Inspirations: "The view of Camel's Hump from my bedroom window (I WILL hike you)" Well, on Monday I finally did it! Took six hours but it was the best hike I've ever done.
(Can you tell it was windy? )

Boarding an airplane yesterday I asked the lady in the aisle if I could get by to my window seat. I was expecting her to get up and let me in as everyone has done on every flight as long as I can remember. Instead she tucks her feet under her seat and tells me to squeeze by. I think this woman has lost her mind and is about to be crushed to death, but I go ahead and try anyways. I got by just fine.
Neither of us ate our complimentary cookies because they just aren't that good. A year ago I would have eaten my cookies and my neighbor's pack because they were there and I was bored. Today both packs of cookies are still in my purse so I can save them for when my MIL visits, because she likes airplane cookies.
I also got 14000 steps during my long layover.33 -

This is such an inspiration. I get taunted by Peavine every time I open my front door. I will hike you!13 -
For the first time since I started my life long journey to lose weight on January of this year, I'm just now starting to see myself as smaller. Even with all the weekly measurements, drop in dress size, multiple bikini pictures for before and after, and the feedback from friends and colleagues etc looking at the mirror i still did not see any significant changes. I don't what know happened today, but 6 months later and 22 pounds lost I finally looked at the mirror this morning and noticed I was smaller. My coworker who just came back from a 2 weeks vacation, just kept saying I've really lost so much weight.
That's a big accomplishment. I still have to lose 18lbs to hit my target BMR but for now I'm feeling good about my progress.21 -
3 NSVs for today.
1. I went to the gym today and ran more of a mile than walked for the first time ever. I also shaved 1:37 off my mile time.
2. I felt like giving up halfway through my elliptical workout after hitting the treadmill and pushed through it!
3. I've finally realized that for me it is now more of a mental thing than a physical one when it comes to my limitations at the gym.29 -
We're doing a backcountry hike in November in the Guadalupe Mountains to the top of Guadalupe Peak. It's no where near the tallest mountain in the States, but, it'll be my first climb. When I first started exercising last July I couldn't walk more than a minute or two at a 6% incline at 2 mph....tonight I hoofed it at 9% for 3.5-4 mph for an hour in preparation for the upcoming hike. If someone told me last year I'd be going on a major hike this year I'd have said they were out of their minds.28

I love my garden. And every year I try to add more to it (I'm going for the lush tropical look). Last year, my husband had to help me dig holes. This year I broke our old wooden handled shovel. And then dug all the holes with our new one. My weight training is paying off. My husband is impressed!26

played squash last night.
League match and lost 3-1. But won one game! Also it was against a guy I call The Flash. He is so fast. But I made him run a hell of a lot and we had some amazing rallies and I felt awesome playing! Some shots I reached would not have been possible even a month ago. Have really noticed benefits from C25K on my speed and endurance, as well as leg strength and wrist power from lifting.
