So, was with my husband at the initial meeting with the surgeon who is going to remove his skin cancer, and the doctor says to him, "Although I usually see this in older people, it's not unheard of to see it in young people like yourself..." Husband says, "Well, I am 48!" and the doctor looks at me and says, "Oh, I would have guessed you were in your mid 30s because your wife is that age!" I said, "I'm 49!" He started laughing, and said he never would have guessed.
My husband says losing weight has taken ten years off my age. I thought it was funny that I happened to be wearing a skirt I found in the closet which I last wore fifteen years ago, on our ten year wedding anniversary trip. It's the only summer skirt I have that isn't too big now.
And another victory, although it's really his victory not mine, surgeon says my husband's skin cancer is superficial and probably won't even need a skin graft or chemo. Yay!68 -
Losing weight and being healthy has made my confidence so much higher than previously. I have a good career and do well, and got a professional certification in my line of business last year. I have always been vehemently against going back for grad school. Well...I just submitted my application to the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign today for the MBA program. My personal statement was about my journey with health and how it completely changed my life and gave me the confidence to know I can do anything I put my mind to!42

Officially flexible enough to hinge and grab my feet. A year ago I couldn't touch my toes! And only 1 size away from pre pregnancy clothes that I haven't worn in almost 2 years.27

A little background: as I started losing a noticeable amount of weight, I was confronted unexpectedly with a range of issues with which I had not been dealing. This was a shock to me as I consider myself to be thoughtful and "tuned in," but I realized that, for me, food was my drug. I've been dealing with all that (therapist, etc.); and it's not been easy, but I'm committed to my health.
Fast forward over a year ...
For the last month, I've been hit hard by those issues and feelings, and there were plenty of times I was at maintenance calories or have gone over -- and my goal is to keep losing a bit more. So, triple whammy: I don't feel well; I'm terrified that I've slipped back into old habits and can't stop; and I've not lost weight. I've definitely had other NSVs, but I also want SVs -- and certainly don't want the scale to go in the "wrong" direction.
Anyway, all that to say that today I feel better, in control, and back on track. Rather than conquer my body / myself (like, at war), I have thought about it as supporting myself, and that's made a big difference and I feel a lot better. Not sure if that makes any sense ... but feels like a relief and "victory" to me.46 -
This morning I had cinnamon life for breakfast, instead of my usual oatmeal and fruit or eggs and fruit. Then, I had the brilliant idea to have it again for lunch because I was super busy and it's just so delicious. Even though it's within my calorie goal for the day when I factored in my planned dinner, I was noticibly groggy and bloated this afternoon. No energy. It was amazing to see how my body reacts to less nutritious food now that it's adapting to a more diverse diet.
I'll think twice before I eat that much cereal again, and that's big for me. Cereal is my kryptonite.28 -
I have to wear a lanyard with my office key on it for work. I just noticed that the key keeps swaying and banging on my abdomen as I walk around. It was driving me crazy until I realized that my belly is finally smaller than my chest causing it to hang freely. That has never happened before. Now I like it!37

I used to count Tuesday and Thursday as "rest days" since I work later on those days. I would work out the other 3 weekdays and Saturday. This afternoon, I drove home and instead of going straight up to my apartment, I stopped at the fitness center and knocked out Week 1 Day 2 of c25k! So much fat crying on that treadmill! The sweat was legit.35

Feeling more in control of my blood glucose today! I didn't work out yesterday (collapsed with relief after getting home from spending day with husband's doctor) so it was high this morning when I woke up. I did 30 squats, 100 heel raises, and 60 leg lifts in the kitchen while fixing breakfast, and it was lower after breakfast than before! Nice!
Then I worked out in the afternoon and ate my post workout snack, which usually brings my glucose into the hundred teens temporarily. But checked it in an hour and it was 91.
It is a little depressing knowing that I can't skip even a day of working out without an immediate effect - I feel sometimes like I'm stuck in a hamster wheel for the rest of my life. But thinking about the fact that I have the ability to control my blood glucose without medication helps keep me motivated.25 -
Today was week 2, day 2 of C25K for me. The first few runs I was around 18:30 min per mile. Today was 17:45. It's feeling better as I'm going!27

I nibbled too much today, and I had not one, but two slices of cheesecake after dinner! Not much of a victory I know - BUT - I logged it all and (with my exercise) am only marginally over my goal. I also noticed how "bleh" I felt after dinner, and definitely am going to remember that for the future. Tomorrow is another day, and I'm going to the gym at 5am with my husband! I guess you could say my NSV is that over-indulging with my friends didn't make me feel guilty or like a failure, just more motivated.32

Today marks the day I went down on the bmi chart from obese to overweight. Who would have thought you could be buzzing to be classed as overweight49
-
I ate more than +5K calories over my maintenance over the weekend; I tracked it all. Normally I would not log for the day if I was eating too much.
*Edited for clarity29 -
This morning I moved from obese to overweight, never been so please to be overweight before!36

I won a Fitbit Daily Showdown challenge against my super active friends! First time in the 3 months we've been doing these that I actually won!25
