This thread reminds me of weight watchers' forums. I swear 80% of the people on that program think they are not losing weight because they aren't eating enough.
Seriously folks, do people that are starving in Africa look like they're gaining weight because they are in starvation mode?
OP, you are either underestimating calories or you are seriously ill and need guidance from a doctor, not a bunch of woo.26 -

Weight Watchers flat out tells people that too, so it's not surprising. Fun fact - Up until relatively recently, even MFP would trot out "starvation mode" if you tried to complete your diary at under 1000 calories a day.7 -

Okay here it is when I started this app it put me down as to eat 1200 calories a day I usually eat 1200 calories or less the day I go to the gym in the morning and then again at night... I have been to the doctor and have asked about my thyroid and they said that my thyroid is fine so I don't know what I'm doing wrong if I'm not eating enough calories for going to the gym twice a day but a lot of you guys are saying I'm eating way too many calories... and yes I log everything I eat and drink1

Food scale. Weigh everything that passes your lips. Log it into this app. No skipping, forgetting or cheating.
After doing that, if you determine you really were eating 1200 calories, then go to Plan B.5 -

How are you quantifying the amount of food that you are logging? Are you estimating? Looking at the packaging and saying, "Yeah, that's probably one serving." Weighing it on a food scale? What?2 -

I think the main question is.... Are you measuring what you are logging? If so, how? (Scale vs. measuring cups). If someone is concerned that they are no longer losing weight, then making sure logging is as accurate as possible if the first step.

Without acces to your diary, here are some general tips:
- Pick up a food scale for $15 at Amazon or Walmart and use it for all solid and semi-solid food possible - whole food, packaged food, stuff you are scanning, peanut butter, fruit, everything. Even if you only do this for a couple of weeks, it should shine a light on the problem.
- Double check the entries you are using in the database to the package or the published usda info - many entries are user entered and completely wrong.
- Avoid using "generic" or "homemade" recipe-type entries that you didn't create. Like "Mac & cheese", you have no idea how much or what type of cheese or any other weird ingredients they might have used.

Those that are saying you are eating too much are saying you are underestimating your intake. You are eating more than 1200.
Those that are saying you aren't eating enough mean that your goal is too low.7 -
I'm not a fan of single minded focus on weight. Try using a tape measurement as well. You can also use your clothes as an indicator. Muscles are way heavier than fat.
This. Have you noticed any change at all in how your clothes fit or feel? And make sure you measure/weigh everything you eat. I lose best if I eat around 1000-1100 cals per day but I'm very short at 4'11. I also don't eat back my exercise cals. What works for one isn't always going to work for the next person.1 -

You're not actually answering people's questions here. Are you weighing your food?
I'm sorry that some of the answers conflict, but that's inevitable when you ask for advice on a public forum. Not everyone agrees. You have to sift the responses to figure out which ones are most reliable. The best way to do that is to read through previous conversations in order to thoroughly understand the issues.10 -
Why do you keep repeating your answer OP? It's not answering what people are asking you. Answer how are you measuring your food? If you aren't weighing your food to get correct calories, you are eating way more than you think you are.8

I am going to guess since she refuses to acknowledge and answer the question about weighing food that she isn't. I bet there is a lot of inaccuracy in that supposed 1200 calories. OP - time to be honest with yourself about your logging. People are trying to help, be open to listening.14

Hi Stacy. While I see some good advice here, I also see some not so worth taking. Visiting with your doctor is always a good start. Perhaps s/he could recommend a nutritionist. Doing so much exercise could be building up muscles which weigh more than fat. Do you have a lot of weight to lose: More than 30 pounds: I would consider cutting back on carbs by eating higher protein and even some healthy fats...yes, there are healthy fats. Avocados and nuts for beginners. If you drink milk, try the unsweetened almond or cashew. You can always put a pack of sweetener in it if you must. I use Splenda with fiber. Good luck. I would love to hear from you again.29

This is getting repetitive.
-If you eat olive oil, accidentally using 3 servings instead of 1 would be an extra 240 calories. That is SUPER easy to do.
-2 servings of yogurt instead of 1 is another 100-140 depending on the fat and sugar content.
-1.5 servings of chicken instead of 1 is another 110 calories.
-2 servings of fruit instead of 1 is another 30-150 (depending on the fruit).
-3 servings of almonds instead of 1 is another 320 calories.
-1.5 servings of chia seeds instead of 1 is another 60ish calories.
-2 servings of pumpkin seeds instead of 1 is another 150 calories.
-2 servings of oatmeal instead of 1 is another 150 calories.
-2 servings of orange juice instead of 1 (you'd be surprised) is another 120 calories.
These mistakes are easy to make. An extra 200 calories each meal will add up to an extra 600 over the course of the day (plus snacks)... you could wind up eating 1800-2000 calories easily. WEIGH AND MEASURE.17 -

No the app didn't put you on that calorie level - you put yourself on 1200 calories by the options you chose.
If you seriously want help then make your diary public because that's where the most likely cause of your problem will be found.10 -
I'm 5'2", started at 204 pounds and am sedentary. My only exercise is walking from the car to the office and back most days and a little light housework. I'm averaging a loss of a pound a week on 1,200 calories. Following this, I have lost a little over 25 pounds in the past 5 months. The OP is not logging her calories every day or not logging them accurately, period.9

Answer the question and please stop parroting your previous response... it's not answering the questions. Let us help you. We can't/won't help you if you don't cooperate....
Are you weighing all solid foods (as well as butter and oil) on a digital food scale in grams? Are you using cups/spoons for liquids only?
If your doctor keeps telling you that you're fine, then your logging is off, sorry. It's the truth. If you eat less calories than you need to maintain your weight you WILL lose weight. The thing is, you have to be accurate with both calorie in and calorie out.
Are you choosing correct database entries? Scanning guess can lead to innacurate entries, and green check mark items aren't necessarily accurate.
Do you use the recipe builder? If yes, it can add some pretty ridiculous entries. Double check the ingredients and calories.
Do you estimate portions? It's better to weigh the whole dish then divide and weigh portions.
Do you log beverages, fruit and veg?
Have you changed batteries in all your scales?
I use a food scale for every ingredient/food that I consume. I will weigh eggs, bread slices, fruit/veg, chocolate/protein bars, single-serve foods (snacks, etc). I weigh butter, oil (especially the oil I cook with), mayo, peanut/almond/cashew butter. I weigh nuts, seeds.
I make sure to weigh and log raw grains, raw veg, raw meat/fish, raw pasta. The nutrition information for these are for the raw state.
I measure all beverages (except black coffee and diet soda). I even log diet soda (as 5 cals) and coffee (as 2 cals). The only 0 calorie beverage is water.
There is no 0 calorie food.8 -

You keep repeating that you log what you eat, but are you weighing it? Multiple people have asked you and you have not answered. If you were under eating, you would lose (says the former disordered eater). Even with poor thyroid function or wacky hormones, if you were truly eating 1200 a day, every day and logging accurately (only able to do with a scale, not based on packaging or measuring cups/spoons) you would be losing, though admittedly at a slower speed if thyroid or hormones were off.2

Hmm. At 5'7" and even starting back at 251lbs I never ate as high as 1700 for my calorie goal. I think that would have put me at a loss of 0.5lb a week. Hardly aggressive.
It's got to be more than 0.5 lbs per week. I eat 1750 and I'm about 5"1'. I loose 1 lb per week

I am being honest with people on here all I was doing was asking for some advice and started to get attacked about being honest I couldn't even see if you guys could see what I posted that's why I posted multiple times sorry....yes I've been measuring my food ....but thank some of you for all the good advice I have be listening but I didn't ask for advice to be attacked thanks for the help I will not post anything after this7

But you still haven't answered the questions! They were not answered in your repeated posts.
Are you using food scale to WEIGH all food and ingredients? Measuring and weighing are completely different things. Please answer the questions or no one can help you.
Did you even watch the measuring vs weighing video above? It's an eye opener.
Or open your food diary.
No one can help you if you don't answer the questions asked here. Members answering you are taking their time out of their day to help you, and you are not cooperating by not answering questions asked.
Remember, YOU asked for help.
Nobody attacked you. No one. I see others getting frustrated because you refuse to answer the questions that can help YOU since you asked for help.
Nothing medically wrong. Look at your logging.
Before I used a food scale, I thought i was doing everything right, too.... but I wasn't losing weight. Turns out, once I got a scale, I was logging 500 calories extra which was wiping out my deficit.17
