So, today was the long run in my training plan. The plan called for 8.98 miles at a 12:03 pace, 1 hour 48 min. I reached 9 miles with about 10 minutes to spare so figured I should finish the time, and then when I finished the time, I was so close to 10 miles that I kept on until I reached 10. So my longest run to date and first time reaching 10 miles. B)

    August total/goal: 43.38 / 75

    Woot! Congrats!

Also... the place called for 8.98 miles? Not 9? That seems odd. :)

I know, right? I think it's because it takes my actual past runs and adds a percentage so I get all kinds of weird goal times and distances. Like 38 minutes, 11 seconds and stuff like that.

Today I finally ran 10K! My previous best was 5.4 miles and I made it for 6.3 miles today. I had to wait out some storms this morning. It was 78°F and 87% humidity when I started out. I thought I had a good window of time, but at somewhere between 3 - 3.5 miles it started raining. There was no lightening so I kept going. It was really nice. When I started out I felt like the run was going to be really hard, but after about 2.5 miles I just really felt into it. I felt like I could run all day. I love it when I feel that way.

    Woo hoo!! Great job.

Hi! Totally new here. I'd love to join with a 50-mile per month goal. Not exactly sure how this works but looking forward to being challenged! Just said goodbye to my Fitbit as they kept breaking and now have a Polar. Happy to connect with people there too!

    Welcome!

    And, @Orphia, love the costume.

Ah, so it is a generated plan, makes sense... but I think if I created the generator I would have had the generator round it to 9. :) Probably makes sense to round to nearest 1/4 mile or something.

I just spent my lunch hour reading through 7 pages of posts. Wow, what an exciting weekend! Too much to comment on, but I did want to say that @Orphia and @PastorVincent 's wife definitely win the awards for the best costume!

Wow! I look away for a few days and 300 new posts appeared! Looks like everyone is chipping away at their goals for the month! Keep up the hard work!

Today is a rest day/cross training day in my plan, but yesterday I got in a nice 10k. I'm at 36.33 miles so far this month.

I'm not sure when you did your first HM, but mine was last September, and I did it in 2:09:58 (and I was out of gas by the end). In May I ran a flatter HM but did it in 2:01:54, and the following month I did a HM that was even hillier than the Sept one in 2:01:15, so I'd say 5 minutes is doable!

I did my first HM in April (a few years back) at 2:18 and my second in November of the same year and took 7 minutes off at 2:11. Very doable.

Today is a rest day. I must have the running bug, because I'm not sure how I feel about this.

    Non-running check in:

The sore right Achilles was ever so slightly better this morning than yesterday morning, but still doesn't want me to run on it. I could do my morning cone touches. I could do my morning one-leg calf raises with 50 lb. weight. I could mow the lawn, and feel the uneven surface providing a healthy stretch to the Achilles. But a test jog to the mailbox after mowing the lawn confirmed that running is out today.

If it's the same story tomorrow, I'll have to admit this is an injury.

In other news, this afternoon the email arrived confirming that the club has registered me for the Michigan Mile and reserved my hotel room. Sure hope I can follow through with that commitment.

@mobycarp we seriously need a "that sucks" button. Hope it's 100% soon.
