Add 13 more miles over the weekend, just over halfway to goal ~44 miles out of 80.
About 3 weeks to the Labor Day 5K so I did a tempo run 5K this morning to get an idea of a ballpark pace for my first race ever. Not too bad all things considered. I can definitely do it faster, the real question is how deep I'll be able to dig on the day of.5 -
PastorVincent wrote: »So, today was the long run in my training plan. The plan called for 8.98 miles at a 12:03 pace, 1 hour 48 min. I reached 9 miles with about 10 minutes to spare so figured I should finish the time, and then when I finished the time, I was so close to 10 miles that I kept on until I reached 10. So my longest run to date and first time reaching 10 miles.
August total/goal: 43.38 / 75
Woot! Congrats!
Also... the place called for 8.98 miles? Not 9? That seems odd.
I know, right? I think it's because it takes my actual past runs and adds a percentage so I get all kinds of weird goal times and distances. Like 38 minutes, 11 seconds and stuff like that.2 -
Today I finally ran 10K! My previous best was 5.4 miles and I made it for 6.3 miles today. I had to wait out some storms this morning. It was 78°F and 87% humidity when I started out. I thought I had a good window of time, but at somewhere between 3 - 3.5 miles it started raining. There was no lightening so I kept going. It was really nice. When I started out I felt like the run was going to be really hard, but after about 2.5 miles I just really felt into it. I felt like I could run all day. I love it when I feel that way.
Woo hoo!! Great job.1 -
Hi! Totally new here. I'd love to join with a 50-mile per month goal. Not exactly sure how this works but looking forward to being challenged! Just said goodbye to my Fitbit as they kept breaking and now have a Polar. Happy to connect with people there too!
Welcome!
And, @Orphia, love the costume.1 -

Ah, so it is a generated plan, makes sense... but I think if I created the generator I would have had the generator round it to 9. Probably makes sense to round to nearest 1/4 mile or something.1 -
I just spent my lunch hour reading through 7 pages of posts. Wow, what an exciting weekend! Too much to comment on, but I did want to say that @Orphia and @PastorVincent 's wife definitely win the awards for the best costume!3

Wow! I look away for a few days and 300 new posts appeared! Looks like everyone is chipping away at their goals for the month! Keep up the hard work!
Today is a rest day/cross training day in my plan, but yesterday I got in a nice 10k. I'm at 36.33 miles so far this month.4 -
Monday 5.2 miles easy pace with not to much push back from the extra mile each day on the weekend
71.0 miles of 100 mile goal for the month and a week where I ran each day. This was a first for me in over 2 years. in 2014 I got pretty lame and had to mostly walk January 2015 I had my knee scoped and June 2015 I had a total hip replacement on my left side. I am building mileage back now to 2013 levels, when I was 65 it seems to get more " interesting " increasing mileage each year.
The highest monthly mileage before this month was 86 miles generally 4 or 5 days a week max5 -
Catching up after a busy weekend of driving! Was able to squeeze in a bike Saturday, but moved my rest day to yesterday. Have 6 planned for after work today!

So, y'all remember my exciting race report back on page 39 of this thread? The one with photo of my wife and her Wonder Woman cape? Well I sent the race organizers a message about the event:May I make a suggestion? I would be happy to pay a bit more for the race, even double, then you could take that surplus and maybe buy some material to make signs? Everyone I talked to after the race got lost or off course at some point.
I figured that would be it. Well I just got a reply from them sayingSignage is always important. Undisclosed construction created confusion for sure. Thanks for the input. We will raise this at the event debrief. We will start planning for next year. Interested in joining the Trail Run Committee? Love to have you!
So I guess at least they heard me. I will not join the committee - I can not imagine how I would have time for such a thing. But, at least, I can feel like they might take the issue seriously.7 -
@ADLampshade Excellent! That is very close to my first (and so far, only) HM time: 2:10:07 I just wonder if I can get 5 min. off for next time... less than 1 month from now.1
