A waist trainer is an ugly corset. Not meant for working out. Doesn't do much other than rearrange your innards.6

Sometimes people forget that not everyone has been around to see all the threads like this. For people who have been here a few months or more there seems to be someone asking about waist training, corsets, or something similar every day.
The reality is that they're not effective for slimming your waist/stomach and when used during exercise they're potentially dangerous. Sadly celebrities get paid well to pretend they work and people buy into it.21 -
Love it. I work in a warehouse so I wear it 10 hours a day it helps me sweat the belly and back fat and gives me curves for days without the trainer26

If I get two & wrap them around my thighs, can I finally get rid of my thigh fat? I swear I'm going to look like Skeletor from the waist up by the time my thighs aren't jiggly.9

Plastic surgeons swear by them.. they call them compression garments. It doesn't help with weight loss. Only aesthetic shape. Same with plastic surgery. The reason I know this is that I lost 130 lbs and had a lot of skin I had to get removed. So I got an abdominoplasty. The doc had me use a compression garment for months to acquire a better shape, (and it's a comfort from some pain and swelling as well) that said, I'm not sure how it effects someone who needs to lose weight. I used one in the very beginning while I worked out to keep my belly from jiggling right when I was trying to go left while doing aerobics. Very helpful. I avoided a lot of sprains that way8

I'm with you on that! I'm looking great on top since my skin surgery but my thighs are still looking like a melted candle. The surgery was so tough that I decided I am just going to live with my thighs the way they are.. so hopefully swimsuits with skirts will stay in style for a long time5 -

IMO you are better off keeping/improving the core strength & ab muscles you have, rather than losing it for lack of use.3

I wear an abdominal binder but not for weightblose purposes but rather to help protect myself from developing a hernia and to conceal my ileostomy. It sucks that everyone assumes if you are wearing a belly band or binder that you have fallen for the pseudoscientific weight loss claims.5

Sometimes we need to stop and look at the BIGGER picture. The idea is to feel better in order to do more with our lives.. not just get skinny.
I think if something is working, even psychosomatically, go at it!!!

I used one for years . The men's vest one . never had a bad experience. The purpose of mine is mainly to workout . It made my upper body look really nice . Honestly certain things you can't post in here you should just YouTube it because some ppl just aren't gonna have nice things to say . Goodluck ❤️14

Sometimes we need to stop and look at the BIGGER picture. The idea is to feel better in order to do more with our lives.. not just get skinny.
I think if something is working, even psychosomatically, go at it!!!

Nice? I'd rather have people answer my question directly than feed me a bunch of lies. You can workout without the waist trainer.

The effects are primarily cosmetic, and not necessarily due exclusively to dehydration, although the results are limited in duration following extended use.3

Nice? I'd rather have people answer my question directly than feed me a bunch of lies. You can workout without the waist trainer.
The purpose of shapewear is to improve appearance. "looking nice" is the goal..4 -

So how do you know the best worked since you used it for years while working out? How do you know it wasn't your actual workout that caused your results (hint it was)10 -

Absolutely!!! Getting rid of any excess water in your system cleans your system. It's kind of hard to imagine because working out in the beginning makes you feel tired, or when it's really hot, it can make you feel really tired. But it's not an immediate response.
The reason many people use a sauna is to sweat out toxins. They feel tired at first, then after awhile, provided they don't put the toxins back in, they feel the difference!
Same with a good workout. Workouts are even better because you get the benefit of sweating it out, stretching it out, and building yourself up. Again, you may not feel it immediately, but we feel the energy come in time.
Sometimes it's hard to imagine something exhausting and uncomfortable ever giving us energy, but you know, the more you exercise, the stronger you get, and you wake up with more energy.. common sense stuff right? It just takes patience and perseverance.
The girl who posted about wearing the sweat belt 10 hours a day, that's perseverance, I don't doubt a minute she feels a difference with that kind of dedication.
You'll never know how it feels till you try it.26 -

Yeah, no. I like to stay hydrated and keep a calorie deficit for actual fat loss. It's not about a number on the scale for me, or looking temporarily thinner. I'm in this for the long haul.11 -
