Forks over knives? New here

Hi I am using mfp to regulate my eating habits and trying to lose 30 pounds as well. I am vegan and following the forks over knives way of eating which is no oils or sugars or salt or processed food. So far this is working . I also do intermittent fasting and start eating at 1 and finish at 6.
Are there any FoK fans here or China study adherents? Also how do I share my diary?

Glad to hear you've found a way to stick to your calorie deficit so far. Keep it up! Personally, I choose knives over forks.... How else do I cut my steak?! (and the china study is a load of bunk)6

I am confused. What have forks instead of knives to do with vegan eating and not eating oil/sugar/salt/processed food?
Processed food to me actually is the one more likely to be eaten without needing a knife. Otherwise I also cut vegetables. Broccoli just would not fit into my mouth (or make the dinner table a mess) without using a knife to eat it. Oil, sugar and salt all work with neither (you'd need a spoon?)0 -
Forks Over Knives is a documentary promoting a vegan lifestyle. It's one that helped push me from vegetarian to vegan a few months ago. That alone did not cause me to lose weight though as I still just eat all day long. Wasn't gaining but wasn't losing, so here's to a healthy well portioned human diet!4

"Forks over Knives" is a mockumentary promoting plant based eating over animal based as a way to "eliminate or control disease".5 -
I'm somewhat following the forks over knives eating, we do use some oil and the plan says not to use any oils. I'm looking for some friends that are doing Vegan, FOK or any non meat lifestyles to add me for support. thanks2

Hi. Happy to support. Could you kindly look at my food entries for the past three days to check where my 300g cholestrol has come from? There is none in plant food!! I can't see how to search. Still finding out! Cheers1

The China study isn't worth the paper it's written on.
It left out any data that didn't fit its very narrow view.3 -

Your diary is closed but you probably used an incorrect entry. There are many incorrect entries in the database.
Try to type usda before the food you are searching for. Tends to bring up more accurate one's.1 -

It's controversial because it is one of the most one sided twisted studies of all time.
There is nothing to take from a study that leaves out the data that shows against their views.3 -

Where do you get your facts from? I just listened to it all on Audible. I don't see how anyone can possibly refute Campbell's evidence. He also lists lots of doctors who had their academic funding stopped because big dairy farmers and businesses like McDonald's did not want this work promoting. You have to read it all for yourself and decide. You can't cite what other people have said about it. Not sure if you are by the way but it's easy to do.6 -

A mockumentary is not supposed to be funny. That would be a comedy.
Most of the health "documentary" programs are literally designed to shock viewers. They are cherry picking information and studies to promote whatever one sided view they are trying to present.
If you are open to considering that everything you're presented isn't the truth, you may realise how much they misinform. Question everything, even what you believe to be right.3 -

You didn't. You listened to a podcast put together by a father and son with an agenda. They cherry picked small bits of a study. They cherry picked the bits of the study that fitted their personal agenda that made them money.
The title of their book makes me laugh. "The most comprehensive study"
The study does not even find what they claim it found, it had over 8000 correlations, no proof of anything. It wasn't even a peer reviewed paper.
There are however several peer reviewed studies debunking it.
Read the actual study not a podcast put together by people peddling books.4 -

I wouldn't worry, cholesterol in food doesn't raise blood serum cholesterol levels in most people, despite what Dr Campbell says3 -
I'm vegan, I try to stay away from refined sugar, only use coconut oil. I don't follow any specific plan though, just go with how my body is feeling.2

Wikipedia is far from a reliable source but I notice you cut out that bit that supports your belief.
Just under that cut out is some of the sources debunking it.

And it's actually heart disease, not cancer ("Reverse and Prevent Heart Disease" by Caldwell Esselstyn). A plant based diet is correlated with a lower incidence of certain cancers. But do what you want. I have many cross-fitter, paleo, supplement taking friends that don't eat plants.2

No-one is against plant based diets here, we are against the *kitten* that it can reverse cancer etc or that it is any better for you than a balanced diet that includes animal sources.
A plant based diet can be healthy or unhealthy as can an animal products based diet.3 -

I didn't misquote anything, and you are the one that has totally misunderstood what I was saying. I didn't say that she said that plants are the "only diet". I said "eating only"... you misread what I wrote. No food, in any combination, plant or animal based "reverses" cancer. I have nothing against plant-based diets, I have vegetarian friends, some of whom are healthy some of whom are obese. What I do have something against is when someone says eating something (anything) can "reverse" cancer. If that was true, we'd all know about it.3
