IMO - such a waste of hard earned money to hire someone. And also pretty lazy. But hey, i guess that's why lots of us came to mfp to begin with...because we're lazy MFers. :smirk:

I'll come help you with your edging any time free of charge

But how about lawn care specialists, arborists and fall-time cleaners. I have three companies helping me with those.

The only thing I take care of are mowing and snow shoveling. Shoveling takes about 2 hours. It's one of my most fulfilling exercises.

What do the lawn care specialists do if you're doing the mowing?

I pay someone to cut my grass because my lawn has steep hills. I clip the shrubbery, weed, and mulch.

I mow it myself. It takes me a little over an hour to do an acre. I think it's relaxing and I do a lot of thinking.

That seems like an awkward situation. My Ex had different ideas of how the lawn should be kept up than I do

I do mine + other work around here - right now it's cleaning the pond & clearing some brush to make room for some bananas - Eastcoast Jim

I do it myself because I'm thrifty and it's a good workout! :-). Would rather have the cash to do other fun things.

I have a decently small front and back yard and it takes me about 45 minutes to do (including edging). If there is a need to weed - an extra 45 minutes or so (every other week).

I do it. I love working in the yard. Good time to put the stress of the day behind me. I might add that I usually have music playing, I'm sipping on a cocktail and I'm smoking a cigar.
