As of today, I can comfortably do squat reps with the maximum weight (120 lbs) that will fit on my cheapo bar at home, so I need to join a gym or buy a proper weight set if I want to increase weights. I went to the gym by my house and took a tour and got a day pass to try it out plus a coupon for waiving the sign up fee. I'm gonna do this thing!
I also had a really nice compliment - in pantomime! My husband and I went to a Korean restaurant we love but haven't been to in a while, and the owner, who speaks almost no English, came out of the kitchen and waved her hands in an hourglass shape at me and gave me a thumbs up, then patted her cheeks to indicate my face was slimmer.39 -

Hahahaha thanks!!! They are still like new because they've been stored away for "that one day"...and my God it's here!! Lol!7 -
I have posted on a community board for the first time to try to involve myself with people with similar goals - sick of struggling alone!41

This is a long post, but here goes...
Today I was on my afternoon walk. I've recently begun walking in my neighborhood after I get off work. I'm loving it and everyday it seems like I am going further with more endurance. I make it a habit to wave at people who are in their yards. It seems that I always pass the same people doing the same things. It's fun to get a glimpse into other people's lives.
Today, I was listening to a podcast so I had my ear buds in, but I still waved as I passed neighbors. There is an older man who sits on his porch every afternoon. I always wave and he waves back. Well, today, I saw that he was saying something so I took an ear bud out (mistake). He yelled "it's fun putting it on, but it's hell getting it off!" I just smiled awkwardly and kept walking. It hit me a few houses down what he'd said. I know he probably didn't mean to offend, but why comment at all?
Now, in the past, this would have been a sign for me to get home as quickly as possible and never pass that house again, but 96 lbs into this, I've built a lot of confidence in myself. I kept going. Passing his house again with my head high.
My only regret is I wish I'd responded to him. Of course, these things only come to me after it's too late, but I wanted to share the response I wish I'd had here. I wish I'd said that, no, "putting it on" was a life of self-loathing and shame. I've had issues with weight since I can remember and since age 5, I've thought about my weight every, single day. Now, when I finally decided that I was going to change my life almost 9 months ago? That was amazing! In fact, while "taking it off" has been a struggle at times (and I've had my bad days), this has been the best 9 months of my life. I can finally see a future where I'm not embarrassed about stupid things like going to a restaurant with booths or worrying that the seatbelt won't fit. I'm confident in myself and I'm doing this for myself! So, that's my NSV for today!56 -
Starting teaching soon and found out today that I get a gym membership and rec pass through my district and it was easily the best benefit in my eyes! I've always liked to work out but I was particularly excited about this!28

This is the first time in my life I'm relying on a belt to hold up my pants. I'm on the third notch to boot!!! I've always been on the very last notch. There's nothing like being able to move better and not having your body get in the way! I'm 22 pounds less and looking to drop more.24

Did a 10km jog last night.
On treadmill - forgot my running belt which has headphones and key space etc
Without my own music - gym music is so crud!
1hr15mins!
A solid 8km/h all the way with a minute here and there of 8.2.
So mentally tough as gym was boring and music was crappy. I checked the clock after I thought I must be 20 mins down and was 12 - so that was fun too.
But felt amazing! Also felt like it was someone else that achieved it! I cannot possibly have jogged for that long!24 -
After a 10-day holiday in France, not weighing or measuring anything the whole time (but eating mindfully...) I managed to maintain my progress. Double NSV here: it's great to not have to work my holiday off, but more importantly: I know I can enjoy very small quantities of what I like and be satisfied.27

I've been down with stomach flu for the past week. Today is the first day that I felt normal and I forced myself to the gym even though I really didn't want to. I thought I wouldn't manage my whole workout but I pushed through and completed it. My brain kept telling me to stop. I didn't quit. Big NSV for me!25

Way to go!!! That's awesome, good job pushing yourself I do that quite a bit haha!6 -
I'm starting to like my face again. I put on a lot of weight on my face and neck when I was studying for comprehensive exams in May, and it was unbearable. I felt like I couldn't breathe and my face was really fat. So, a lot of that has finally gone away and I feel like myself again.20

Usually, if I have an unexpected high calorie meal, I give up and blow the rest of the day, usually longer. Today, I went out for lunch, ate a little more than I planned, but stuck to my regular dinner plans - was over my calories for the day but still well under maintenance and on track for tomorrow!27

Down 2 pants sizes.
Swinging 15lb kettlebell.
Took up running without dying.
My wedding rings fit again.
Ive lost some, Ive gained some but I havent given up!34 -
FINALLY got past the bar on OHP. I thought I was putting on a couple of 2.5 lb weights but ended up being 5 lbs. each. Totally blew right into a PR!23

- Although I haven't changed sizes yet, all of my tight jeans fit well.
- My panties aren't too tight.
- I don't stretch out some of my t-shirts before putting them on.
- I have much more energy, and my yoga balance is better.
- I have had foot problems for years. Hoping that losing weight will help his. I take walks almost everyday. Today I took a long one, including getting up a steep hill near my house. I still had great energy by the time I got home.
- I haven't had acid reflux for quite a while.
- Yesterday I went to Trader Joe's with my son. The sample lady handed me a mini ice cream cone. Before taking a bite, I looked up the calories. I enjoyed a couple of bites off the top, tossed the rest, and logged the calories.
I really enjoy reading everyone else's victories. Thanks!

Also, I bought a big steak for lunch (I had always eaten large steaks, like I feel jipped for some reason if the steak is less than 16 oz. Yikes right? Anyway,) I got a 1.37 lb steak home, cooked it up, cut it up, weighed it and saved some for later. I had an 8oz steak which I shared with my 3 yr old son who ate at least 4oz all by himself. I have never done that before.
Steak, sushi and beer are my favorites that I have a hard time compromising on. I've gotten down to 0-4 drinks a week from drinking 2-4 a day (was more on weekends). I eat more veggies than I ever have in my life = eating little to no meat. And sushi is expensive so I don't get it very often. It's all working out!31 -
Stole a shirt out of my teenage daughter's closet today!49
-
Size 12 jeans on for the first time in years and no muffin top!34

I had my first person ask me about my weight loss without me mentioning anything about trying to lose weight. And then a day later, I had my second person! I am about 20 lbs down from my start weight and 10 lbs away from goal.30

I just downloaded the StrongLifts app. And I'm gonna use it.33

I went to a consignment shop and found a $3 pair of skinny jeans that fit like a dream. Twenty pounds ago I would not even have tried them on. And I'm really liking the sparkly things on the pockets.28

People keep telling me I look so much younger! I am 29 and looking young "for your age" runs in my family. But when I mentioned my age to someone the other day they said no way and that I looked about 19. Didn't think it might have something to do with my weight until someone else said something.24

I had to go to training at a high school and I FIT IN A HIGH SCHOOL DESK!!43

My running shoes, which still have many more miles in them, are too loose!!!! In fact, all my shoes are too loose and I've been wearing sandals every day. Too bad cold weather is coming cause nothing is going to fit and buying shoes is so expensive!24

I have the cutest little butt!! I didn't realize my butt was getting this cute round shape to it but caught a glimpse in the mirror the other day and proceeded to turn around and check myself out. Now i check out my butt almost every day. Wasn't expecting this but my NSV is my cute butt!! Lol50

Lately I've noticed that the skin on my back bunches up when I'm lying down. When I'm doing yoga, I actually have to adjust my back rolls I don't mind, I'm excited to see changes like this after losing almost 100 lbs.36

Being able to ice skate for 2hrs (with 3 breaks). Last time I went was 3 yrs ago and only lasted 15mins on the ice due to the pain in my ankles and feet with the skates on.24

I had a really good week:
- I had a new set of blood work done and the doctor called to congratulate me as my cholesterol and sugar levels are now in the normal range.
- My neighbor stopped me on the sidewalk to let me know she has noticed I am losing weight...first person to do so!
- Sometimes I take a school bus from the employee parking lot to the stadium where I work. I used to have to turn sideways to fit down the aisle...now I can walk straight and my hips barely brush the seats.
- And finally I noticed I can put my chin on my chest without the fat roll on my neck interfering!40 -
About 2-3 weeks ago I started walking the dogs every morning, upping my usual daily walks from 20 minutes a day to 35-50 depending on how ambitious I'm feeling. The last day or so it's been feeling kind of easy and I've had a little trouble getting my heart rate up, so this morning I figured I'd try jogging part of the way, and it didn't kill me! It was only maybe a block, but I haven't jogged since I was at my fittest about ten years ago, so it felt really good.31
