Pretty pleased with myself
The semester started Monday, and it's going great. Exhausting, but great. Pants are ridiculously big. I bet I need some two sizes smaller now.
I did some experimenting and realized I just need to cut out bread. It makes me bloated, sluggish, and I don't sleep well. I thought I'd gained some weight over the summer (snacks, more food around), but a few days without morning toast and fruit instead and I'm down a few lbs and feeling lighter / trimmer.
I'm glad I thought to do some experimenting ... It's funny how the mantra here is it's calories in / calories out, but there are some quirky things, I guess, some of us need to figure out in order to work with our bodies.24 -

Different people are different! There are three different posters in the diabetes support group, one is on a low carb diet, one moderate carb, and one higher carb, and all have lost weight, improved their A1c, and gotten good glucose control. It just goes to show that there's no one size fits all.12 -
I'm going out for the day and trying to decide what type of hoodie or sweater to take in case i'm cold (thats a whole other NSV on its own lol). I pulled an oatmeal coloured hoodie from my closet. Its one i bought on a whim and I have rarely worn it. It always fit too snugly and i thought that the colour made me look fatter than say a dark coloured one. I decided to wear it today because now its actually very loose and soft so perfect for a roadtrip. And i also realized something....I no longer try to dress to look thinner. I am thin!!! Now I dress in clothes that I like and that look good. Its not all about dark colours and vertical stripes lol32

My NSV is about overestimating how much space I take up.
Last night I went to the fair. We went on the roller coaster, which was one of those small old-timey rickety ones. My husband sat in the front seat, which looked to me like it would fit 2 small children but not 2 adults. I tried to sit behind him, but the operator made me sit next to him in the front. I laughed and was thinking something like "I don't know about this, but alright..."
Well I sat next to him and we both had a little wiggle room. And the seatbelt fit over both of us with room to spare! Oh and the ride was awesome50 -

Went to class last night with a sore throat and feeling pretty sick, lectured anyways and didn't confuse the students too much with incoherent ramblings, haha! Today, I feel fine and even did C25K and increased my running speed. This is a big NSV for me because last year I got sick all the time during the semester and it took weeks to recover. Both the students and I were miserable when I had to teach.13

There's also a lot of respect for women that lift by men that lift. So many women focus on cardio and lower body work that any woman working upper body is seen as something special. Also, women tend to not "ego-lift" (higher weights with really bad form because the weights are too high), so having great form is also very respected. And kuddos to you for finding a polite gym!16 -

So it's not s big one, but I've been eating too much and unhealthy the last two days and even tho I had some I didn't finish the cola just to "get it over and done with" in a when it's gone I don't have to deal with the temptation again type of way. I'm quite proud of myself that I did this since I'm always tempted to give up because I've already made a bad choice19

Walked to the grocery last night with a hiking backpack. Needed quite a few things. It was 10 PM...it was still 70 degrees.. I bought ALOT of stuff and I felt like friggin WOnder Woman on the way home with that on my back. I actually jogged the last mile home.....the freedom of spirit brought when we challenge our bodies is mind blowing to me. That is all. Carry on.35

The temperature dropped last night in the northeast during the early morning. I got up and put on my long flannel pajama bottoms. While walking across the room, they literally fell down to my ankles. I guess loosing almost 40 lbs will do that. Glad no one saw that.37

I've got the same issues with bread and anything wheat. I've experimented on myself as well. My problem is that I just like it so much!! I do cut back, but some times, I have a little and then have just one more... it's so hard for me to stop bread once I start. I really need to go back to not buying it again, but when you have little kids, it's really hard to do. Especially when they have to take lunch with them, and there's no microwave for them to heat up soups or anything; sandwiches are pretty much the only options.6 -
My engagement ring flew off while I was playing with my 2.yo! Mixed feelings haha.13

I was running suicides at boot camp this morning. My shorts kept trying to fall down.Had to stop and cinch up the drawstring. YAY!25

I've been training for a 10k with my son - we started with the C25K and continued from there, once we could run a 5k without stopping, so it's back to run/walk intervals.
Last night, as we were short of time, we decided to run a straight 5k instead. And we RAN. As in RAN, not jogged. It felt different to usual. Halfway through, my son asked if we were going faster than normal as he felt that we were. I also thought that we were going faster so I just said that we'd look at the clock when we'd finished.
We knocked at least three minutes off our street-running time (ParkRun times are always faster, not sure why, maybe driven on by others, maybe because there are no roads to cross). And that was with crossing 16 roads, so without having to stop each time, we'd have been even faster.
It was a really good run as well. Running late at night obviously suits us37 -

About 1/3rd of the way to my goal, and while many amazing effects have been realized, the first real victories happened only recently...
I used to fly frequently for work, but since switching jobs (to a much more active one) I haven't traveled at all except just yestersay on a planned girls trip to Miami.
On the trip yesterday I could cross my legs comfortably in the airplane seat! No foot sticking onto the aisle, no ankle resting on knee. Legs fully crossed in an airplane seat.
And today, I was just a little late leaving for my flight and had to run to get from security to my gate for boarding... several minutes of running/speedwalking and I wasn't out of breath at all. I even had time to use the bathroom! (The realest victory of all.)

When this first happened to me I absolutely felt something missing...oh yeah, my muffin top. ( I have a mini muffin top now if that :-)) I didn't realize that my arms rubbed before this. I'm still getting used to my body taking up less space, even if it is only 20% less space at this point. It makes a difference!15 -

I lost a wedding ring that way. Get a ring guard to ensure it stays on your finger until you're ready to have it resized.9 -

@MissMaggieMuffin That's really kind of you to say so. I do like running with my son as it's a bit of "us" time which we don't get very often. When we'd finished the C25K, he said he didn't want to do the 10k top-up.
A few weeks of running a straight 5k, he decided to carry on with the 10k programme. At the moment he's saying that there is no way he's carrying onto a half-marathon but I think that he will . . . after the half, I'm heading for a full marathon. I told my daughter two years ago that I wanted to run a marathon before I got to a point whereby I couldn't do it. It finally looks as though that ambition may just be achievable . . .
My teenage daughter has just started the C25K with me as well. I'm working on my other son who is muttering about doing some running, so we'll see. My 4yo already does Junior ParkRuns, so just the husband to get involved now - he used to run, maybe he'll start again23 -
Watched a video of myself from early summer and noticed a big difference in just the 20 pounds lost since then. I've found that the more I lose, the more significant each loss looks, especially in my face.22

Wore smaller sized new dress clothes to work today. Had 3 different people comment that I am definitely losing weight. One remarked that I am disappearing. Good to hear those comments, but I tell them I have a lot more to lose. Definitely appreciated to hear such nice things though.18
