Love this thread! :-)
Today when I applied bodylotion I noticed my belly is significantly smaller. This is a huge deal for me because I am a classic apple-shape and my belly is very large (not just a cute tummy that sticks out a bit, it literally looks like I'm pregnant). So it means a lot to me that it has really reduced, even when I'm still at the beginning stages of my journey. Feels just great. :-)28 -
Won first place in my age group for a 5K "worthy cause run" and second female overall yesterday! It WAS a low key/park run which was obviously missing allllll the elite and young runners... I was happy they weren't there and gave me a chance to place. LOL! What I can't do running full out YET, weights have blessed me to make up for on the hills.. that's where I gained ground during the run... don't know if enough runners weight train consistently as this has happened before. Anyway, I was thankful ( 8:36/mile) and looking forward to my one year Running Anniversary in October and the changes that will bring. :-)28

Just got back from a cruise. Many activities had weight limits, for example:
waterfall excursion: 275 lbs
zip line: 265 lbs
waterslide: 230 lbs
At 225, I could go on all of them! If we had gone last year, I couldn't have done any at 300+ lbs. Plus I had lots of room in my airplane seat.42 -
I ran walked for over an hour this morning. Was doing 52 min bridge to 10k and got lost in park took me 72 minutes but got in 10k steps before 10am20

This is too amazing and excellent to just click 'awesome'. Just imagine all the wonderful invisible improvements on the inside! Congratulations on this visible reward for you efforts . . . there will be many more, visible and invisible, but you'll feel the good results.22 -
I was drinking with a few friends last night. They love to just Snapchat random stuff that we are doing and I used to hate it because I looked awful in candid photos and videos. This time when I saw the videos they took, I realized that I looked pretty good! It's hard to tell the difference sometimes after losing so much weight, but seeing candid photos and videos of myself was a huge confidence boost. I finally feel like I don't have to hide from the camera. It's a pretty great feeling.34

They actually are not the same size. The cups are the same size and the band is two inches smaller. Her torso is smaller.

First 5K today in 38:36. Not bad for a first-timer!

@Madwife2009, I know you love cycling, and if you're interested in checking out the sport of professional cycling, I'd like to note that the Vuelta a España just started this Saturday. The World Tour has three, three-week long stage races each year called the "Grand Tours", of which the Tour de France is the most famous. The first of the year is the Giro d'Italia in Italy, then the TdF, Then the Vuelta in Spain. Of the three, IMHO the Vuelta produces some of the best racing, since it's late in the season and many of the top contenders are carrying fatigue from previous races, which kind of mixes things up.
I'll admit that the racing may seem dull to the uninitiated, but there are multiple competitions going on all at the same time, and races within races, and much strategy involved. Monday's stage, stage 3, is a mountain stage and the first stage this year where the general classification riders (the ones in contention for the overall victory) will try to make their mark.10 -

Can I just say I have seen this elsewhere on the internet and it always amazes me when people say things like a 34DD and a 36D are the same?
Like the cups are the same yes, but if I need a 36 band size I need a 36. I couldn't possibly squeeze into a band size two inches smaller if I tried (and believe me I have when they didn't have my band size). It's too tight around the torso. If a woman can fit a 36 D and a 34 DD both comfortably then the 36D is too big and she needs the 34DD to begin with.12 -

Can I just say that I have never ever understood bra sizes in the first place. Different brands and models always, always, always fit me differently and require different sizes.
I remember bra shopping in my early twenties, stick thin and barely a B cup. The salesperson walked over with her fancy measuring tape in hand and offered to sum me up for correct sizing. Mind you, I have a relativley large rib cage...According to her measurements, I was a 36C. At the time, I couldn't fill a C cup with an entire roll of toilet paper.
I later retold this story to my mom who giggled uncontrollably. Apparently, when being fitted for my very first bra, the sales lady told my mom that I was a 34B. After laughing hysterically in the woman's face, mom took me to another store where we shopped on our own. We came home with a "barely A."
I may be an anomaly - the formula used to calculate bra size simply does not work for my body.9 -
Back to NSV news...
While getting dressed to go out last night, I really didn't want to wear my "fat jeans." On a whim, I dug through my smaller jeans from a few years ago. I chose to try on the stretchy-est pair. They fit! With a little room to spare, too!!
Feeling adventurous, I grabbed a pair with no give whatsoever. (I think you know where this is going...) They fit like a dream!!
Will probably do the happy dance for the rest of the week on that NSV alone! I wonder how many calories the "happy dance" burns...

You're not an anomaly - the standard formula doesn't work for myself or my daughter either. I could go swimming in the cup size calculated for me40lbslighter wrote: »I wonder how many calories the "happy dance" burns...
That would depend on intensity and length of time of "happy dance"
My first NSV for today is that the alarm went off at 4:50am this morning and I actually dragged my sorry body out of bed and hit the gym. Not been for a while due to autoimmune condition flare causing fatigue. I've missed it. So glad I got there today.

Second park run = 33:24
Whole minute and some change faster than 1st time. And I struggled with stitch twice! Felt awesome to finish as I really wanted to quit after the first lap. Hate stitch!
And spent the rest of the weekend sitting watching anime with 'bad' foods. But in moderation. Still went over yesterday by around 400 but that is a win as normally it is by 2000!
ETA - swam a length (25m) under water this morning as well! yay lung capacity back after last proper smoking period 5 years ago.19 -

I have always struggled with what the formula said I should be, and no wonder! VS would tell me I'm a 36C and I'm actually a 34G!
I didn't find this out (and my girls suffered for it) until someone shared this website with me:
http://www.brasizecalculator.tk
This free calculator uses 5 measurements instead of 2 and gives recommendations in UK sizes (with conversions). As we lose weight, bras will fit differently, and our girls deserve support!

I was at the zoo with my husband and kids yesterday and I was able to crouch down and crawl in the kids tunnels in the meerkat exhibit with my 3 year old. I wouldn't have risked it a few months ago, but it was totally easy and so worth it all to be able to play with the kids and you know just engage in life rather than standing by watching it.35

I ran my 5k in 35 mins on saturday, my personal best.
I now fit in my jeans comfortably and my tummy doesn't hang out over the top of them.
My arms have thinned enough to slide properly into (long tight) shirt sleeves without having to tug and arrange them.
Some of my old dresses finally fit right, and some clothes I bought small thinking I would lose weight and never did... I can finally wear them! W0000ooo! Almost down to my next scale victory, but I'll take these NSVs any day!

I just got back from vacation. On vacation I swam, paddleboated, rode a stand up paddleboard (without falling!), jet skiied, got towed in a tube behind a jet ski, got tossed from said tube and laughed and got back in, hiked, walked, and kayaked. It was the most active vacation I have ever taken. Yesterday morning when I headed out to mow the lawn my 2 year old asked if I was going out to exercise*. That's the example I'm setting for my girls!
*I kind of was. I was mowing about 1/3 of an acre with a push mower. It's a project that takes several days.29 -
I bought pants without trying them on in a non-plus sized store!*
* I'm actually going to return them because even though they fit, they fit loosely and are for sure NOT going to fit next month. I promise you that!35 -
Have finally started running in my sports bra! It's just too hot and muggy to have my shirt sticking to me all the time. My size 14 self is strong and beautiful Also, I was called a "real runner" by a friend today. I firmly believe that from the first moment you start running even if only for 10 seconds at a time, you are a "real" runner. But the fact that is was someone who only sees my fb posts from time to time and has noticed that I do run a lot is a nice feeling!33

my knees touch when i'm laying on my side. XD I can no longer wear pants since the last two time i bought some they ended up getting to baggy a month later. now i'm only buying dresses until i stabilize in my weight loss22

Got my run in before the solar eclipse "path of totality" came my way, so I have time to sit around and experience it.26

Seeing myself getting stronger. I am working towards being able to do push-ups on the floor. So far I can do them at counter top height and can probably go down to desk or table height now. But this morning during yoga (sun salutations) I lowered myself down from a plank slowly and steadily all 6 times I was in the pose. I used to get halfway there and then thump to the floor when my muscles gave up! Kicked my day off with a huge smile when I did that last one!30

The new neighbor guy being flirtatious this past weekend.25

I'm starting to be able to see my top two abs! Holy crap I've got abs guys!46

I swam with whale sharks! This is such an accomplishment for me in so many ways. I did not learn to swim (dog paddle) until I was 40. Until 3 months ago, I had never jumped in the water. I always waded in or climbed down the ladder afraid my head would go under. Last week, I jumped off a boat and swam with fish that are the size of a school buss. What an incredible experience to be face to face with these creatures.
My second NSV is I went paddle boarding yesterday! I bought a paddle board 5 years ago and had so much trouble just getting on it, I quit and never tried again. 45 pounds lighter and I can now get on and off in deep water and paddle around for hours. I will not quit ever again.60 -
That's all I have to say about that.
Apologies for the photo quality, it was taken in the dark tonight when I got home.
My teenage daughter called me crazy. I don't know why, I thought it was perfectly reasonable to go at 47.3 mph in the dark. On a bike. I concede that I couldn't see much as my glasses were covered in misty-rain but I had my lights on, so other people could see me. Not that anyone was about, they were avoiding the rain.
It was fun.
And I can do it all again tomorrow.

This is stupid but I posted a picture of my new haircut on facebook and got likes in the double digits in less than an hour... while an eclipse was going on! That's like.... more likes than my previous couple of pictures COMBINED.33

Handled a situation that would of sent me to "blow up diet-land" instead with healthy empowering choices!
I know the guy was just trying to be nice but it got my fur up!
Total stranger asked me if I needed help putting my six 5 gallon water bottles into the back of my car.
"No, thank you ...we got this." ( my adult son was inside paying.)
Ticked me off.
Son came outside, noticed I was irked.
I told him I WAS LOADING ALL THE BOTTLES!
I did it!...NOT tired....
Still ticked...I felt slighted.
On way home son suggested lunch.
Son went to fast food place for a lettuce wrap. Old choice me would of wolfed down a cheeseburger w onions and Animal fries!
NOPE,NOT DOING IT!
I asked to be dropped off at the local healthy grocers In the same shopping center as he went thru the drive thur.
I had 1/2 a Veggie Sushi and 1/2 of a spinach/strawberry/tofu salad for lunch.
Having the other 1/2 for dinner! Yummy!
Not ticked anymore, just happy I chose to not travel down an old and too well worn path.26 -
NSV #2 today!!! Got my first "have you lost weight"?
