My son and I completed our 6th ParkRun today. It was hot, there were hundreds of people there, I was feeling a little bit below par but we got on and finished it. Four more runs and my son qualifies for a t-shirt. I have to complete another 44 to get one. Don't they realise that for some of us, completing 10 runs is nothing short of astounding??
Going again tomorrow, my little girl is "running" with her Dad and the rest of us are volunteering.
Went for a walk this afternoon with DH and my three younger children. For some reason it took longer than anticipated, making me very late to meet my daughter from work (although she's 17, she's very petite and I worry, especially as a) the place she works at is rather isolated and b) we live close to an area that has regular police patrols due to violent attacks - last year there was a stabbing every month). I was 1.5 miles away, and had 13 minutes to get there. The only way to do this was to leave the rest of the family to get themselves home and to run. So I did. I ran the whole way. In blistering sun, no shade, the whole way. But I did it, I got there on time And it felt good, despite gasping for breath, sweating like a crazy thing and being as red as a tomato by the time I'd finished. Wouldn't be able to run at that speed for a whole 5K though!
I forgo my bicycle ride today, instead I went with DH to collect a cycle for my little girl. She's really excited to get a new bike so that made missing it worthwhile And I can cycle tomorrow.37 -
I climbed a mountain today. Mt. Sherman in CO, reaching 14,036 in elevation.50

Took my 11 year old thrift store shopping today. He really doesn't like shopping, but he was a good sport. I am now firmly in single digits! Every pair of size 8's I tried on fit! Some snugly, and some perfectly, but none with muffin tops.
We went to 3 different stores, and I didn't even realize 2 were having their "summer sales." I got 3 pair of jeans that I can wear to work on fridays (no holes), 6 pair of slacks (even a white pair that I'm a bit terrified of, but look amazing), and a pair of cute Capri britches. I also got a cute, very fitted, size medium blouse. So 10 pair of pants and one blouse later, and I only spent $14!!
Now I need to go through my closet again and get rid of all the pants that have double digits because I am NOT growing into them! Again...40 -
My best friend is getting married in a little over a month when I thought I would try on the dress that I wore to my brother's wedding when it really hit me that I have truly made progress. Yes, I've had to buy smaller clothes and have seen the scale go down but, seeing this is just the confirmation and motivation I needed! I'm not where I want to be yet but, this photo proves to myself that I can and I WILL get to where I want to be! :'-D36

Just accompanied my little girl on her second Junior ParkRun. She walked/ran the whole distance (2km/1.2miles) without once complaining about anything - on family walks we usually get "my feet hurt" after half a mile.
And the rest of the family were warmly greeted as volunteers (and enjoyed it).
Marvellous start to a beautiful Sunday morning in England35 -
My dimples on my face have really reappeared...so weird!29

Needed some new shorts and I purchased a size 38, the first time out of the 40's in a loooong time. And the 38's are roomy at that!

My grandpa used to live right next to a Green Bay Packer player, and I got an autographed jersey for Christmas two years ago. It was too small for me, and I have not been able to wear the jersey since it was gifted to me, but I tried it on recently and it finally fits! Just in time for football season to start!43

It's getting easier to keep logging. The last four days I've had at least 2 liters of water a day26

I have hit my 10,000 steps for 64 straight days. Actually averaging almost 15,000. Haven't lost any weight but I feel better. Using walking as a mild form of meditation almost everyday.39

I walked 5 miles today, and LOVED every minute.

Hubby has this weekender lifted Jeep that he had new seats put into a few months ago. I couldn't get the seatbelt fastened, it was way too short. I had been blaming the new seats, instead of my rapidly increasing weight.
Restarted MFP 4 weeks ago, and today the seatbelt fit quite easily!!!!41 -
Another day has gone by without my eating any of the *delicious-looking, omg* brownies my newest roommate left on the table for everyone to enjoy. Hopefully they disappear soon though!26

I can fit into the next size down of underpants. No digging in when I sit down.
Not breathless doing stuff that would have me winded before. Getting stronger.
Feeling painful emotions without running to food. (this is a major one for me)
Great posts folks. Very inspiring.39 -
I got the "OMG, you are hot!" by someone that hasn't seen me in over a year.31

I passed on the garlic bread, cheesecake, AND brownies at a potluck yesterday and didn't feel deprived or have strong cravings!34

Joined a group of guys on Saturday to play some softball. I was the old guy in the group - about 15 years older (I'm 54) than the next oldest guy out there. Lots of guys bigger and stronger than me. I was the last guy picked for teams.
I was the only guy to crush one over the outfield fence in the game. Makes me laugh just thinking about it. BTW, have played softball maybe 15-20 times in my life.....
It's a NSV because I tie it to my life change of about 6 months ago - down almost 50 pounds and currently in month 4 of stronglifts. I'm not that strong, but definitely in better shape than ever....or at least in the last 20 years.37 -
Running a hilly 10k race yesterday in less than an hour and actually enjoying it. Really made me realise how far I have come this year32

This weekend was my 2nd OCR. My "ex-stepbrother-in-law" and I were doing it together and ran into a couple friends that did it with us. We were planning on doing the half tough mudder and at mile 4 swapped to the full instead! It was not pretty, I failed a few obstacles (but attempted everything at LEAST once), I am bruised/sore/tired two days later but so so proud! I am the girls in black and I even did the hero carry with the guy in black - carrying him half the way!

I'd have said the same!
Auto pause is my friend on map my ride7 -
Going to orientations/trainings and packing a lunch (and pre logging it) instead of opting to grab fast food!21

Today is the awards banquet for the program I am in Pedal off the pounds. I am a leader this year and am so excited to see who won.
Saturday I was able to ride with one of my team members who was trying to make the goal she had set of riding at least 30 miles. She made it and in fact we did 35.3 miles, so much fun to help someone else attain a goal.
August has been a tough month stress wise and I had only gotten a ride in about half of the days. Since Friday I have been out everyday and have logged 100 miles in 4 days.
I rode this morning before work and I feel great today.

I just realized i had all these tights and hoisery i purchased a while back ( 10 years ago) I stopped wearing them because i was too big. I could never find the right size. So i gave up. This weekend i tried one and it fit and looked great with my outfit29

After a 9 day vacation of heavy r&r, I went running 4x and somehow lost 1 pound.28

So today I wore a size 18 pants to work and by the end of the day I had to literally hold the pants to keep them from falling off!!!! It was hilarious and fantastic at the same time...the scale has not been moving much but this gave me hope today.39

While sitting in church last Sunday I realized I was sitting with my legs crossed. And not at my ankles, no a full on normal crossed legs position. Whoooo!37
-
I bought new boots for fall today and they weren't wide calf! First time ever!!37

For the first time I felt like a real runner today. My 10k training app malfunctioned so instead of skipping the run I did something a friend suggested I try once a week
5 min walk
5 min run normal pace
1 min walk
4min run normal +0.5 on treadmill
2 min walk
3 min run normal plus 1 on treadmill
3 min walk
2 min run normal plus 1.5 on treadmill
4 min walk
1 min run plus 2 on treadmill
5 min cool down.
But that meant increasing speed and somehow at the end I was at 30 min and had sprinted the last interval and at like a 9 instead of 12.5 min mile. I felt good and strong and fast.34 -
When I started losing weight, I was squeezing into size 14 but should have been wearing 16. This weekend I was going out for a friend's birthday but none of my 'going out' clothes fit properly. So, I went shopping...
And I bought a pair of size 10 shorts from H&M for the first time in my life!!!
My waist has gone from 34 to 30in and my hips have gone from 44 to 40in.
I need to drop another 4in each to get to my goal of a size 6. Baby steps!34
