Just wanted everyone to know that the MRI came out with NO CANCER. What a relief. I'm now up to .8mile of walking one way.17

DJ, one of the things I did when I started this journey was to decide that baking goodies would no longer be one of my hobbies. I gave away a lot of baking paraphernalia and supplies. I am no longer famous for my chocolate chip cookies. I just don't bake and I don't worry about it.
Jake enjoys hearing about all of you. He was with me when I had my first meet up with a woman from MFP.
I survived my visit to the dentist today and don't have to have my teeth cleaned again until January.

Drkatiebug I should be able to see the name, I'll look and add it when I get it1

I don't cook, but I do love baking. Only now, I just bake for about a month around Christmas, and I did bake Lava Cakes on my birthday.
Unfortunately, baking and keeping the weight off just don't go together.

This is Buffalo Bayou going through downtown Houston today. Still out of its banks but not in the streets anymore. It was up in the building in the picture before receding. This pedestrian bridge was about 15 feet under water on Monday and is normally about 30 feet above the water. So it is down, but not down enough. They are working hard to get the basements and underground parking garages pumped out but with the bayou still running high it is hard for the water to drain. It's happening though. The bayou behind my house was half way empty. Yet there are areas of town that are still under water and deeply flooded. My son spent the day pulling carpet out of his friend's house that had just been completed from suffering 25 inches of water in the Tax Day Flood. Thankfully they had not moved any furniture in yet. A long way to go in recovery but it is starting. My houses are all good, I did mold remediation and cleanup in my house where the garage flooded. I had very little affected because I moved it all up four feet before leaving. Unfortunately a lot of people either didn't bother or just didn't have time. I have one young friend who sent out a message and pictures showing the water in the street, well away from her apartment. 20 minutes later she had a foot in her apartment and was collecting stuff to go and within the hour she had 3 feet in the apartment and was waiting for a boat to get to her. It was so fast she was only able to get a bag of clothes and her pets. Now Port Arthur is under water. Harvey needs to let up and move on. We're tired of Harvey in Texas!
If you want to help or contribute consider JJ Watt's fundraiser. I have confidence it will get used for the people that need it. JJ is a pretty awesome guy.

Maritill - how wonderful can you get?
Denise called today and asked me if I was making her shower cake. I told her there are some things that are going to be a surprise for her. She said she thought that I might be making it and just in case she wanted to let me know that she doesn't like fruit in her cake, she thought that a "barbie" cake might be good since I made one for her when she was a little girl. I just told her that I'd be sure to pass on the message to whoever is buying the cake. I am making the cake. You have no idea how many marbled cakes I've made trying to get the marbeling to where I like it. Made a "veil" for the doll that goes in the cake. Thank goodness Jess is decorating it, I am NOT a decorator by any stretch of the imagination.
Supposed to volunteer at the Green Room tomorrow then need to go to Sam's and WalMart. Not sure what time Steve will get here Fri and not sure if he's leaving on Sun or Mon, I'm thinking Mon. I should make the biscuits for us to have while he's here. Glad I asked not to be put on the schedule at the church this weekend.

Hello all!
I'm trying again on my iPhone. (3rd time's a charm!) This will be quick, since it's getting late.
I see the lights are on in the metro area of Houston. That is good to see! It's been so sad. Now Port Arthur and Louisiana.
We are getting some rain from Harvey but not too much. More thru the rest of the week.
Marcelyn & Ginger I'm happy y'all are ok!! Luckily other friends are ok down in Corpus too.
I worked at TxDOT in Austin when I lived in Texas. I bet there are a lot of engineers and maintenance guys out there on the roads and bridges checking for damage. They have a lot of clean up to do. But the maintenance people are on call, so they will work as long as they can per day, night or day.
Lenora I know about the trees! It's a love hate relationship! We live our trees, but with 93 + trees in an acre and a half, there are constant branches and twigs dropping all year and the leaves! I wish we did have more pine. The needles would keep down the grasses but we have mostly oaks, pecans and Hickory.
Bob has the mower set as high as it will go so he can run it over the leaves.
Lanette Yummy! Homemade applesauce!
Becca I love the rocks!! You are the Queen! The Queen of saving and shopping! Way to go!
My grandmother survived the depression. She stored up sugar and flour and saved everything. She cut buttons off of clothes and kept them in a Mason jar and either used the fabrics to make quilts or for rags. I still have a piece of quilt too she made. It was a crazy quilt all stitched by hand. She also wrote events on it in thread. Birthdays, etc.

I went down to Lowes for the 3rd time today. We bought a fridge, stove and microwave on Monday, but later we thought the microwave wasn't going to work up above the stove, so we went back to adjust the paperwork. We bought a range hood instead. All fine and good but I noticed the girl at customer service didn't refund the installation on the microwave. So we went back today to straighten that out! $113 refunded.
But on the way home we saw an accident and since being a witness we had to stop. A tow truck came off the freeway ramp and turned onto the road and a large steel part of the tow bar went flying into the road. A lady driving a new "Discovery" Land Rover stomped on her brakes to miss it and a guy in a Dodge SUV hit her! Bam!! Loud! I was behind him on the turn so I had a good view of the whole thing. So right at the freeway with people off of work made it rough for people to get around us. Luckily the tow truck driver came right back and an officer was nearby too. So, we had an exciting day! Right?
I retired twice BTW. I worked for TxDOT and quit and filed for my SS in Dec/2013, thinking I would retire but not sure if I wanted to file to retire from the state of Texas. But I was bored and was binging on Netflix and cookies!! I decided to go back to work and in April I went back to work at Texas Parks and Wildlife.
My DH also worked for the state (35 years) and in 2015 we decided to retire and buy a house in Hot Springs, Arkansas. It took some adjustment for sure!! Living in Austin and going to the clubs and eating out all at BBQ joints and TexMex!! Culture shock! Even we vacationed up here all the time but I think Bob was depressed for a long time. He's doing ok now, but the first year was rough. Plus my mother moved in and there was some tension. She moved out, so things are better!
Have a good evening.

Got some good deals, saved $820

Pip: I got the handkerchief, signed it and mailed it back to you. I hope it arrives soon. (((HUGS)))
Maritill: Congrats on the "no cancer" report from the MRI!!!!
My neighbor knocked on my door and wanted to walk this afternoon. I was happy to go with her. She hasn't been feeling good enough to walk for quite a while so this was a treat. She has heart disease. I have no notion of the medical details. She doesn't often feel good enough to walk, so I was very pleased to spend some time with her today. After I got home there was a call from DD and I got to facetime with her and the three children. It was very nice.

Not much to say tonight ecept the pictures of Houston encouraged me. Like you said 'it's coming'
Allie, I hope you have all the household things like dishware, vacuum, etc handled. I feel like the others do. Don't like how Tom is being so nice about the dogs.
Choir practice was rough tonight. Our director provides us with proactive CDs so we can practice at ho,e because our little 15 member choir has some tough music coming up and then the Christmas cantata. These CDs are just of the music and some choir. We have to pick out our parts in order to learn them well. The more we see the music in our hands in choir practice and practice it there, the easier it is to learn it and sing with our CDs. The sopranos have it easy. The Cantata is a rehearsal CD and our part is highlighted and we can hear the other parts in the background. I am summing most of the men do not use ther practice CDs at all. So much time was taken up with helping them learn their parts of songs that we have had the CDs all summer. One man said, when Nancy asked if there were any parts they needed hep with, he said from the beginning to the end. He is the tenor that stands behind me and is off key. So we didn't get t 3 songs on the list to work with tonight. And then after choir was trio practice. We sang the song fhrough one time and that was it. We are trusting that Sunday when we are all rested that we will do well. It is a song we have done before. I think one thing that Nancy does wrong is that she treats the men like she treats the kids she teaches in school. A few of the guys read music really well and the men depend heavily on them but the other guys are kind of clueless sometimes. But as always, it is good to just get together and sing.
Starting my lower dose of Am in tonight and I am hoping I will use my tiredness to help me get to sleep.

Mary- I hope the move helps with the Lyme disease. It sounds like you have thought it over carefully and plotted your course of action. Praying that this move will be a blessing.
Heather - Trolls and Imposter? Haha. Sending him hugs from one of the Trolls.
Vicki - I am so sorry for your fall. It is a little concerning that there is no reason.
On the subject of peaches. DH decided he would take over and show me a quick and easy way to do the peaches that he read on Face book. He froze them whole with pits in and skin on. What an unappetizing mess when defrosted. So much for him taking over on the food front.
Allie - A big congratulations to you on the Condo. Remember with Tom if it seems to be too good to be true it probably is. I'm sorry you having problems with your brother.
Marcelyn - thanks for sharing your photos of the flood. Mother Nature is powerful.
Maritill - Now you can breathe. So happy for you.
Yesterday was busy. I took Keira shopping and ending up buying her too many clothes. It was fun to share in her enthusiasm. She is tall and skinny. We tried to find her pants but none fit evenly slightly good enough. She did find a dress, a couple tops, a nice jackets and some sparkly Tshirts. We also picked up a couple of head bands. The lady in the shop said "She's a little whirl wind. She sure has a lot of energy" Little did she know that was the calmed down version. Jheri told her that I used to make all their clothes. Keira demanded to see photos and now wants me to design some clothes with her. I gave away my sewing machine a few years ago because it wouldn't stay in time. Some days I think I would like to have one.
We have Boss overnight. Silly dog had to have cuddle time in the recliner with me before he would stop crying. Have you ever cuddled with a full grown pit bull. Poor old boy is really getting grizzled around his muzzle. Jheri, DSIL and the kids are in Calgary. Trying to find clothes for the 15 year old. He is a bit more involved than Jheri thought he would be. Could it be because of Belle? Aww..young love.
We finally got all of Larry's paper work for everything Senior related filed. We went to the Senior's Centre to have something certified. He got upset because I signed us both up. He apparently isn't old enough and still works. And? We just filed all these Senior papers. The membership opens at 55. I have my eye on a Thurs. morning class. I will only be able to go every 2nd week but that's okay.
Our son kept texting me yesterday while he is camping with his boys. I finally said Do you want to talk. My phone rang immediately. Some tough stuff to say and hear. It tears my heart when I hear him break down as he talks about Steve. I want so much to hug him and make it better. He broke down again when he talked about the situation with him and Holly. So much sadness in his voice. He brought up his fears about not being able to do everything he needed to without her help. I so want to hug him and make this better. So much easier when he was 4 than 40. DDIL will phone me tomorrow. She ruptured her calf muscle on a girl's trip. Where is that wand? I just want to make it better. All of it. I know that is not possible.
Tomorrow I hope to take our sweet Harmony shopping for a few things. I took her to the walkin tonight. I was sure it was allergies and it is. In the afternoon I take her Mom for an interview.5 -
Next on my list is revising and updating our wills. Also I want to get our passports. Then we will figure out how much Mexico will be and if we can actually afford it. We will do it. Where there's a will there is a way.
It was my big bro's birthday. 68 today. I asked him how he was celebrating? No time for that , it's Wednesday night cards. hmmm.... Does he know he is sounding like my Mom.
Prayers for all in Texas

Allie - I would think twice about taking your family up to the cottage if he is drinking again. That would be NO fun. You wouldn't be disappointing them, he would. As I understand it your father gave the cottage to your brother, so I don't see how you are responsible for it. Don't listen to his nonsense, just put the phone down. You have learnt to be strong with Tom, be the same with your brother. He may be jealous that you are changing your life and as he sees you getting stronger he is doing his best to ruin things.
You know I care about you - don't let yourself get sucked in to his dramas. Contact Al Anon if you need to talk to someone.

Morning, all, afternoon and evening...
Maritill-congrats on being cancer-free!
I've got a doctor's appointment this morning; will be talking to her about ill Contrave made me and see if we can work together to find a solution that will work. I'm traveling three weeks out of four next month, and just can't be nauseous and headachy and drive for hours.
She got my husband an appointment with an audiologist in mid-September, the first time he's been willing to go and get tested. I swear men survive as long as they do because women force them to take care of themselves. Will be interested to hear what the ear doc says about his hearing.
Been able to sleep two nights in a row now without a bite guard to keep me from grinding, and no headache when I wake up. It's a stress reaction, and I know it--I just have to realize it before I go to bed.
All my troubles feel quite minor at the moment, and part of that habit stacking is taking a moment each day to realize how truly grateful I am for the good things in my life.
Y'all always go on that list.
But then, so does coffee.
Love,
Lisa in West Texas6 -
Heather~ Thank you so much for the advice...my dad has been going to Al Anon for 40 + years, my brother for the time being isn't drinking, but is wound up because he has to be in jail for 2 weeks he will be going to one of the nastiest prisons in N.H. and he is scared... he blew something off and didnt take care of it when he should of and now he has to do what he has to do..
Alot of my family will be up there Saterday and Sunday and I will pitch in as I usually do... will have Taliah help some too. will try and capture some pictures , especially the peach ice cream4 -
lisa in my gratitude journal coffee lands in the top 10 list every time

Thanks for all of your prayers and good thoughts! My DH sent an email to the COO of his company saying how disappointed he was in the situation and the fact that he has to now find employment with the competition. He was contacted within a couple of hours of that email by the head of the talent acquisition team. He will be getting in invite for an interview today before noon. Supposedly there was some glitch in their system and they did not get his application for the position he applied for. So even though he had an interview with them four weeks ago one hand did not know what the other was doing! Please keep us in your thoughts and prayers as this would be the ideal situation for him as well as his company. He is extremely talented at what he does. And would be an asset to them. Today is the beginning of my second garage sale. Everything is falling into place for us to hopefully be on the road by Monday morning! Then hopefully we can have some normalcy in our life!

Hello! You all have been busy. Nothing (I hope) new here. I am resolved to recycle plastic bags and drop off some unwanted items at charity today. There is bright sun coming in the window so all should be good. I do not feel inclined to mow anything today! Son is back 'in school' so online lessons for the next few hours.5
