So I just cannot get away from this guys website, his articles are informative as hell, funny, straightforward, easy to understand and they cover so much, even the mental aspect of weight loss. He explains woo and even why it's come about. He doesn't advocate just one right way of doing things either. Seriously this is worth a look, as for me I've been looking at it since I found out about it yesterday.

I recently discovered him, too. Funny, smart and clear in what he's writing.0

Yup. I printed out a 63 page weight loss article by him. Good stuff0

He's kind of a cross between the Body for Wife guy and the Oatmeal. Nice.4

Whats the oatmeal?0

Whats the oatmeal?
A cartoonist with a similar style of drawing and swearing. He mostly writes about random wacky whatever, but he's also a runner so you get some of that too. http://theoatmeal.com/comics/running4 -
You might like this guy as well. A bit less funny, but straightforward.

What's this guys background, could not find it on the site. Why not follow someone that actually has some education in exercise, nutrition, etc?7
-
Thanks for the recommendation! Looks like this blog has a lot of my kind of humor (grabbed me from his About page . And, seems like he doesn't take himself super seriously.Packerjohn wrote: »What's this guys background, could not find it on the site. Eh, there's plenty of those out there. I like to find offbeat people with a clear point of view who have been there, done that, and can help me work through all of my issues (not just food and exercise stuff) because they are open and honest about the journey they've taken. Shoot, it's why I hang out on MFP so much! I read the success stories and get more out of them than a nutrition book or an exercise program. Sometimes, you just need to hear some real truth from a real person, not someone who has read all the books and can recite things back.14 -

How about people who have have the "book learning" and have worked with clients/athletes for 10+ years?3 -

But like they said, there's plenty of those guys out there, why can't I follow both? I follow other funny people who write about other topics, like blogs that share great recipes. They aren't five star chefs, usually just regular home cooks, but they make me laugh and their recipes end up being yummy.
I've taken the advice of plenty of people here on how to set my macros etc, based solely on what they say and how they said it. I coughed up several bucks for different flavors of Oreos based solely on Carlos' Oreo thread. What can I say, I'm a wild woman like that.
His LinkedIn page says he's a certified PT.8 -
In addition to the above, I do appreciate a man who can give good footnote.9

what kind of anti-intellectual garbage leads people to believe that "book learnin" and real world experience are mutually exclusive? oh right. America.26

Now granted, I only read one article so far but I haven't seen anything any of the "learned" people wouldn't agree with.1

Thank you.0

Very good1

Thanks for bringing this guy to my attention. Wish I could send the fasting and weight loss articles back in time to my fatter self. I spent a lot of time figuring out the stuff he lays out so plainly (plus he's entertaining).4

Funny guy...interesting reading, thanks for the link0

Thank you. This looks like something I would enjoy. Bookmarking it.0

I've enjoyed reading this since this post was done. Like the guy. A little coarse for my taste (I probably won't "share" on Facebook), but funny. I also like the fact that this anti-intellectual dude footnotes a bunch of his articles.
Really liked this one on fluctuations. physiqonomics.com/the-weird-and-highly-annoying-world-of-scale-weight-and-fluctuations/1 -

I looked at a couple of the articles. I recognized several direct quotes and charts from people with an actual education and years of experience I've seen in the past with no mention by this guy of the source.
If he was writing this for his HS paper he'd get an F for plagiarism.7 -

I bet you're fun at parties.
What's wrong with letting other people enjoy things? No one is forcing you to like it. Or even read it. Just move on.14 -

I'm a *kitten* riot.
Internet, freedom of opinion babe. Personally just not a fan of people taking other's work without proper acknowledgement.8 -
Thank you for sharing. I'm hooked.0

I read whatever I want from whomever I want because I want to, I dont' limit myself. Self education is still education, are you saying that someone can't learn from experience and studying something on their own? He also has clients so ahh not sure what you are talking about there, maybe not for ten plus years but I've been an xray tech for 12 and I can tell ya after the first couple years I knew what I needed to know to do everything as an xray tech and the rest I keep learning as it updates, just like he probably does. I think we're done here. If you don't like it then don't read it.....you're literally at this point the only on here that didn't like it and decided to cry about it......so yeah you're no fun at parties.7 -

Thank you, my husband is 25 plus years construction, he has no degree but I can d@mn well guarantee that he knows the same if not more than 30 plus year guys with a degree, and that's what they themselves tell him when they are asking for help. I feel sorry for someone that feels they can't learn something that counts all by there lonesome.2 -
Had me lol'n on the fat loss...3
