    While technically octopi is not correct, it has become an accepted form of the plural through usage and has been adopted by the Merriam-Webster dictionary, at least in the United States. I'm not sure If the Oxford English Language Dictionary has also accepted it as an acceptable plural form of the word, but the Yankees like their sea creatures addressed as such.

    'Murica.

    I wonder if I'll ever get to use the plural form of octopus? For example: Hey, look at all those octopuses!

    I've never seen more than one at any given time.

    Just because it bastardized it's way into our worst dictionary doesn't mean it's right. Even your video you linked said it was wrong.

    Octopodes: Greek plural - correct
    Octopuses: Transferred to an English word, English plural - correct

    Octopi is the red headed step child

    i wonder what they think about it? like what are their preferred terms? or do they just swim around thinking "i am an octopus"

    I'll ask the next one. The last one said octopussies but now I'm thinking I've been had.

    I hope the next one prefers to be called a weevy-woovy slippery helicopter.
