Tenth NSV, day 251: It's been several months since I've reached my goal (11.5-12.5 body fat %). I like what I see in the mirror, it's very hard to overeat the maintenance calories, and very easy to abstain from food whenever the need arises.9

Going from drinking beer almost daily with most on the weekend and smoking 2 packs a week, to 2 beers last month and a month since I quit smoking! Feeling the health!59

I work in a hospital, and the other day one of the doctors I work with on a daily basis commented on my weight loss. She told me my face looked so much slimmer! I've lost over 30lbs and she's the first comment I got from someone who didn't know I've been working on it. Feels great!!35

I took the stairs at work yesterday instead of the elevator. Three flights to get to our floor. It's the first time since we moved here in January that I haven't felt like I'm going to pass out once I got to the top. Almost 35 pounds lighter makes a difference!34

A couple of days ago I posted that I'm now overweight rather than obese according to the BMI chart. Today I realised a kind of odd tangential manifestation of that. So the thing is that I've got a huge head. Like massive. But 30 pounds ago, when I was at my heaviest, even I of all people looked like I had a pinhead. By the time I hit my goal weight, on the other hand, I'll look like a lollipop. So after some careful mirror inspection I realised that, especially in profile, at this moment I look the most attractive I'm going to look from the very particular perspective of having my head and torso be proportionate (clothed, that is, as I'm still too squishy to look particularly good naked).21

Yeah, it's been 3 years, but I want you to know you (and that dress) are adorable.22 -
Had a manic morning at work & covered 11000 steps. I've just changed into my workout clothes despite this. Just 3 months ago I'd have been headed for a nap!
Someone offered me cake towards the end of my shift too. My tummy was grumbling like crazy & I was so so tempted! But no, waited for my weetabix at home.
Feeling pretty proud right now, won't lie!

Fashion NSV: I'm really trying not to buy any clothes until I reach my target goal of 135lb. It's getting harder. My chest keeps getting smaller and smaller It's so unfair. I spent some much money at Victoria Secret semi annual sale back in June buying 34C bras. But now ALL the bands are so big it's ridiculous. I'm slowly giving up on the wait. I decided to go back to Victoria's Secret to checkout the clearance rack for anything good. I was able to find some nice 32D bras in their Very Sexy collection on clearance and bought 2. They both fit so well I didn't want to take them off in the store. A well fitted bra really makes a HUGE difference.28

We had an amazing day yesterday....my 8 year old daughter (who was born legally blind) was surprised at her school with a pair of electronic glasses that actually help her see!!!! This has been something in the works for a few months while a local foundation held fundraisers to raise the money. They cost $10,000.....
So yesterday was more than emotional for me.... as you can imagine.
On top of her being surprised with them, the tv news station and local news source was there along with family, classmates, teachers, etc. We were all interviewed and we are very, very private people. So needless to say, the emotions ran HIGH for me!
Afterwards, my parents took my husband and I out to eat to celebrate while she settled back into school (ABLE TO SEE!). I wanted a big cheeseburger and I got a big cheeseburger! I was only slightly over for the day, still under for the week, and I do not feel guilty....not one bit.....
And, to top it off, when they played in on the evening news, I got a phone call from an old friend/co-worker that I have not seen in person since I started losing. She commented "You look HOT! What the heck did you do?"
Yesterday was in no way about me, but I realized just how far I have come with food.
Pre-mfp, I would eat every single emotion. And yesterday was the perfect storm to have a total and complete binge. It didn't happen and I didn't have the urge for it to.

@Realtree2429 This is just amazing - for your daughter, for you & for your entire family - in so many different ways, that it brings tears to my eyes.21 -
Another unusual NSV for me: I fell down the stairs about 10 years ago and fractured my (R) knee. (I slipped on a hot wheels parking lot. Thanks, Kids.) Today it was hurting a lot for some reason. Then I suddenly realized— I used to have this level of knee pain (or worse) every single day! 108# down and my bones thank me. Pain is an unusual occurrence these days.48

My NSV is finally being able to wear cute sunglasses without looking like if im wearing Mr. POTATO heads.31

I found Butterfinger baking bits on clearance for 50 cents a bag. This is my favorite candy!! I succumbed and bought 4 bags... So cheap! I was fully intending to go crazy and eat a bag or two tonight. Instead, I had 2 servings that fit in my calories and put the bag away. I don't think I've ever done that before. The temptation is still lurking in my cabinets, but my trigger time is right when I bought it, usually after that I can have some modicum of moderation. Hopefully that holds true!44

I lost .25" in my neck. Hey it's a small thing but I haven't gone down in clothing sizes (though my clothes fit better) or seen much measurable progress in other areas. Neck fat counts, I'm hoping for long-term improvement in snoring and sleep quality.36

Got up this morning.
It was raining and windy.
Went to Parkrun.
It was absolutely pouring down and really windy.
My son and I started running.
The rain got harder. The wind got stronger.
We continued running, turned a corner and hit a head wind.
It was very wet. Very cold. Very windy.
I couldn't see - I wear glasses and the rain had completely obliterated them. The wind was virtually knocking us off our feet .
We continued running as best we could.
I had to take my glasses off, so I was running into I have no idea what as I couldn't see without my glasses, and I couldn't see with them, either. Interesting times . . .
We carried on and finished the course.
It was slower than usual but we completed it.
Then we helped clear up afterwards because by that point, the rain was driving down and the wind was trying to take the tape and tent.
We all looked like drowned rats by the time we got back to the car (my DH, other son and small daughter were volunteering whilst my older son and I ran).
Can't wait for next week!42 -
So while I have had small NSVs of making good choices I have yet to have any physical ones. This one came at a perfect time... As I was in a mood to say screw it all!!!
Back in July I started my journey. I had No jeans that fit. We went out with some family and friends one night and I squeezed, literally, into into a pair. I had to loop a Hair tie through the button hole even and was still miserable.
So last night I got home from work and I didn't want to wear work clothes and other clothes were in the dryer not yet dry. I pull out those same jeans. Pull them on.... And I pretty much scream lmao. My husband though I had lost my mind. No hair tie, and no being cut in 2. I even wore them to work today where I do a lot of bending and crouching and I am not uncomfortable. This is huge for me!!!!!62 -
I feel like my weight loss should really be called "The Story of My Hiking Pants." They are size 6. Were snug when I bought them. Then I gained a few pounds and they were painted on in the thighs but still possible to snap up at the top. Gained a few more pounds and had to suck in to do the snap and try to ignore the muffin top. Finally the snap gave up and kept popping open. Gross.
Lost a few pounds. Could do the snap without sucking in. Lost a few more and the pants fit and had about an inch of room in the thigh. Thought I was done and I was happy the pants fit. Put them on today before a hike and found that the thighs are positively baggy, and the pants now rest on my hips instead of just below my belly button. They are too big!37 -
I fit very comfortably in a Loft size 8 pants...it was their Julie cut, as I'm on the curvier side and also Loft is notorious for vanity sizing, but it was nice. I can't wait until I'm a size 8 in stores like H&M. I'm size 10 there except in jeans, then I'm a size 12.
Those size 12 H&M jeans are getting to be too big now. I constantly have to pull them up when I'm walking.
I just bought a size 10 jeans from American Eagle that fit like a glove. I also bought a size 8 to work towards...I can get them on but they're too tight right now.
From an Old Navy size 16 jeans to almost an American Eagle size 8 jeans!

Going back to the bra talk from a couple pages ago. My girls are indeed shrinking, and I didn't realize it. On the one hand, this is what I wanted, on the other hand, now I don't know what size I am! Measuring because of my shape will throw me off, so I'm going to try them on until I find something that fits.
I bought a DDD cup because I barely filled up half my H cup this morning, and I was at Walmart. I figured as long as I didn't spill over a DDD would be fine. (The one bra I have that does fit is a DDD)
The DDD was too big for me! It was very gappy on top and the side. So it goes back to Walmart tomorrow and I hope there's someone in the fitting room (there wasn't today, so annoying) so I can try on sizes until I find the right one.
Yay, cheap bras! And maybe in fun colors too, because there were more DDs than DDDs and I think they had some in not-beige.18 -
I stayed away from the gym last week as I was trying to get into a routine now that I am working again. Yesterday, I went to the gym at 7:30am before my shift started at 9. Thought I would have enough time to get a decent work out and eat my second half of breakfast (eggs was eaten earlier). Turns out the gym opens at 8am on Saturdays! So instead of focusing on one workout with 30-sec rests in between sets, I alternated between two workouts at a time. I shaved off about 10 minutes of my time, and had plenty of time to change and eat before work. And I still feel great from it! When there's a will, there's a way.24

I've got a few:
My size 14 jeans that I was so proud I fit into (I haven't been that size since middle school) are getting too big in the waist. I'm going to Macy's tomorrow to see how the 12s fit.
I realized today that I've basically sized out of the only stores I used to be able to shop in.
My mother bought me an 18" pearl necklace when I was in college and it was too tight. It basically fit like a choker and wasn't very comfortable. I wore it yesterday and it hits right at my collar bones the way it's supposed to.
My youngest sister and my mother have always been way smaller than me and now Mom keeps offering me her clothes to supplement my wardrobe and keeps joking that I'll be passing her in no time. Last night for my sister's bachelorette party my sister loaned me one of her dresses but also her tights. The idea that I fit into normal sized tights is just mind blowing. I literally do not remember ever being able to do this in my life.
And finally I managed to snag the leg press sled at the gym right as this guy was leaving and he was like "here just let me clear it for you" and I said not to worry about it I actually need to add a couple more plates and added another 90lbs. He got super wide eyed and watched me do the first couple and just said wow. I was definitely pleased with myself.50 -
After a very wobbly week last week due to TOM (eat junk, feel bad about it, try and 'exercise it off' and repeat!), I randomly measured my waist this morning and found that I'm 2" down from last time I did do a big uphill hike yesterday so I hope it's not just dehydration...!24

This happened awhile ago for me but makes me smile. My nieces can wrap their entire arms around me when they hug me. No more giant belly in the way.30
-
got told I was more cuddly the other day. Apparently people can now fully put their arms around me during hugs, which makes it a better hug! who knew!? lol
made me grin!21 -
This one is a blessing AND a curse. Recalibrated MFP for my new current weight and the calories dropped WAY down. Probably explains why I haven't lost in about 5 weeks. Started at 1,800 calories and I'm down to about 1,300.
I MISS FOOD!31 -
Omg. I did go to Macy's to try on jeans and the 12s fit. I would probably want a looser shirt cuz there's a tiny bit of muffin top happening but I can definitely wear them. I also bought a pair of 10s which I could actually button up. They're super uncomfortable still and a LOT of muffin top happening but I literally have no memory of ever being in these sizes. I'm so stoked.
Also I noticed I have a different mindset. I went ahead and bought the 10s because they were on sale and I know I'll need them soon. In the past I would never have bought a size down because I wouldn't be sure I would ever be able to fit in them. Now I'm like of course I'll fit in them, just gimme a month. It's really nice to have that kind of confidence in myself.39
