Through my entire weight loss starting at 300 pounds, i ate chocolate, red meat, take out, and i am nothing but healthy, in fact i even restored my body from being a very serious diabetic. Do not paint everyone with the same brush.
If only we all could eat that and loose weight. The problem is not all of us are 300 pounds. Youre right dont paint me with your brush either.11 -

You eat 1500 calories with a 500 deficit = 1lbs loss
I eat 1500 calories with a 500 calorie deficit = 1lbs loss
Don't confuse nutrition with the math.
OP can eat what will keep her on track, the math stays the same.
I sure did. But what has been the quality of my food choice? Not snickers. Theres a difference, go read a nutrition book.
Snickers is nutritious.
Lol.
Explain why it is not nutritious.5 -

This doesn't just apply to people who are starting at 300 pounds. I began my weight loss at about 150 pounds and I was able to eat things like chocolate and takeout while I was losing weight. I had steady progress because I focused on consistently being in a calorie deficit.
People can eat just about anything and maintain a calorie deficit. There is no food that will, in and of itself, cancel or invalidate a calorie deficit, even if one is starting at a lower weight.

It has peanuts, eggs, milk, and chocolate. None of those foods lose their nutritional value from being combined together in bar form.
Well, to be fair, the Almond Snickers is the one I think is the perfect candy.
I know you weren't talking to me.10 -

People who love red meat for instance may feel like it isn't worth doing if they can't enjoy what they like to lose weight. That is why all fad diets and lose weight quick options most often fail.
You're right. Thats exactly what im trying to say. Focus on eating healthy, its not all about counting calories only. For weightloss yes, but id hate to see somebody skinny and unhealthy. Fill your body with good things. I just gave her advice on what ive been doing because she asked me, but of course its not for everyone.7 -

I also prefer almonds to peanuts. I recently had some almond butter cups that were amazing!4 -
No matter what you weigh, you can still lose weight eating Snickers every now and then if you are in a calorie deficit for the day. If you only have 100 calories left for the day, don't eat the snickers. If you have 500 calories left, go for it if that's what you are craving and want to use your calories on. If you have 300 calories left and good self control, cut it in half, put the other half in the fridge and only eat half of it. Don't have a 20 pack of snickers in your cupboard if you know you won't have the willpower to resist. But if you go to the grocery store and buy a single bar and eat it when you have room for it, why not?! I'm the type of person who goes crazy if I deprive myself of the foods I crave. It makes me feel like I'm missing out and I'm far more likely to fail. Everyone is different, so no one can say "never eat a Snickers if you want to lose weight" and have it be accurate.5

and we are not saying you shouldn't be supportive in good nutrition, but don't put the idea in someones head that they can't eat this or that because its going to cause health problems. weight loss is stressful enough in itself, new people need to focus on getting started, let them get a routine, after that nutrition will often follow, but if you pile on the homework on the first day of school, chances are it's probably gonna make someone bail out.
Yep, and you can meet your nutritional needs while still having Snickers or red meat . . . it isn't an either/or.
(I know you weren't arguing that it was).0 -

How would you define skinny and unhealthy?
I'm at a BMI of 21-22, I had a box of Hot Tamales and buttered/coconut oil popcorn the other night. I do that a couple times a month usually. My blood results have been in the normal range for many years, no medications other than thyroid - and I'm in my mid-sixties. My BP and cholesterol numbers are within range and I eat a lot of saturated fat. A. Lot. I go through a pound of butter by myself in about a month. Same with cheese and full fat yogurt, I eat a lot of it. I buy at least one half gallon of ice cream a month...and I live alone.

I eat pizza, candy, Taco Bell, etc. when I have room for it in my daily calories, and I just had my blood drawn for insurance purposes (I get $1000 off annually if I get a blood panel done) and the lady said I had the best numbers she had seen all day. I'm not thin. I'm 139 lbs at 5'2". Still overweight. But you can be "healthy" and still eat these foods. If that's what will keep you on track, go for it! If you're the type of person who can't indulge because that makes it harder for you, then don't. It's all personal. But the point is, you can indulge every now and then and still be "healthy".8

If you have no problems in your blood or other health issues, no medications and your body feels strong and you are happy. That is awesome for you that you are able to eat that way with awesome outcomes!1 -

Hey OP! I hope you're still reading through all of this. This is my advice to you.
Take two weeks. Don't change ANYTHING. Eat what you're eating, do what you're doing. Just log EVERYTHING as accurately as you can. Do it in the app, on paper, whatever. Be brutally honest with yourself. Then, in two weeks look at those logs, and find something to fix.
For me, it was a giant bowl of cereal every day. IDK What it was about growing up the 90s but when I eat cereal it is in like a water trough. And I was doing that every day. So, I tried to eat a smaller bowl of cereal. Left me feeling pretty unsatisfied, so I quit eating cereal every morning. I still keep it in the house for the kids, and when I do have it once or twice a month, its a water trough, but I make it work. Any way, I fixed that problem. Then, I added a walk the next week. Once a day, usually after dinner, but whenever I could work it in, I walked. The next week, I fixed something else.
Start small. You have a LONG way to go, and as you've learned from losing and regaining +, if it isn't forever, it isn't going to last. I can have oatmeal instead of cereal for breakfast every morning forever. I can make sure I squeeze in a walk every day forever. I log in every day. When I'm not honest with my logging, I see it on the scale!
I know the struggle. I was 270, going to school full time, working full time nights, and had two kids at home. Eventually, I found how to make it work. You have to find the way to make it work for you. Also, don't discredit the impact of 3 ten minute walks throughout the day instead of one 30 - you can break your activity up. You may not get the cardio endurance part of it, but it will still benefit you!18 -
You guys are honestly amazing ! I read every single thread on this post and want to say there has been some amazing advice on here ! Just to clarify everything with you guys since I wasn’t too descriptive in my post ... in concern with my eating habit / diet ... it has been mainly fast food .... i haven’t been counting calories in over a year easy . If I had to estimate I would have been eating easy 3,000 calories a day no exaggeration .. 1 typical day would look like this : chick filet with a large waffle fry , 12 nuggets large coke and extra sauce , lunch in and out and dinner mcdonalds .. for 1 year straight my diet * resembled * this ... why did I do that to myself .. well compulsion ... I’m a compulsive eater I would have already eaten a buffet before I realized what I had done .... I won’t say I’m a binge eater because I don’t eat huge masses of food in one sitting I just eat super super high calorie foods through out the day ... NOW ... how did I loose the weight before u may ask??? CALORIE COUNTING !!! I was literally counting everything but I worked out during it aswell ... cardio mainly running on the tredmile elliptical ect ..... it worked for me . I was loosing weight at a reasonable pace ( 3 pounds a week usually ) I felt great amazing happy omg I was on top of the world lol size 12 jeans ... medium shirts ... everyone noticed I was happy ....... but I don’t know what happen one day I had wing stop and then I just couldn’t stop ...... once I have food that’s not the “ healthiest it’s like a trigger “ I don’t think I could have cheat meals during a diet or life style change in the early phase of my weight loss .... my personal experience . Yeah I gained over 50 Pounds in 1 year .... not proud at all and now I don’t fit into any clothes , I totally lost my menstrual cycle completely , I can’t walk like I used to I’m miserable .... sleepless days ( I sleep during the day since I work graveyard ) it’s just a complete mess I’m only 19 I should not deal with these type of health issues and I recognize it.... honestly when I first started my weight loss I had no concrete plan I just winged it .... found my flow but NOW I’m lost I don’t know what to do I’m scared to fail I can’t reach 300 thinking about that scares me so much how last year I was 219 now I’m 290 that is scary to me ... wow now that I remmeber I gained more than 50 wow even worse ..... if u read through this I thank you !9
