a lb a day? not safe or doable...get yourself a new doctor42

What are his reasons for wanting you to lose a pound a day ? That seems awfully unhealthy.9
-
Your doctor is an idiot.
Congrats on losing 15 lbs!15 -
Yup new doctor is needed there
How much do you weigh?
My 600lb life type of weight?9 -
You can't eat no carb unless you stick to ice and oil (I think even dust has carbs).
Carby foods are the cheapest.
No recipes can change those facts.
Oh, and lose the doctor. Two pounds per week is the highest MFP will allow as a goal. Three pounds is okay if you're morbidly obese.9 -

Google is your friend so don't be afraid to use it.
there are a zillion places on line to look for low carb food and recipes.... there are very few natural foods that have 0 carbs (I think celery but not sure)
Did he provide a specific number of carbs per day to stay under? Usually 20 carbs per day is the lowest amount to start with. Anything under 50 carbs a day will certainly help you loose weight.

Celery has carbohydrates. A carb-free diet is pretty much going to be limited to meat and oil.7 -
What kind of doctor told you to lose 1lb a day?5

Is there a particular reason your doctor is recommending such drastic and foolhardy weight loss goals?
Are you by any chance waiting for bariatric or any other type of surgery and facing a deadline?8 -

to the bolded - nope. Eating under your maintenance level of calories will enable you to lose weight (regardless of the macros involved in the food that you eat). As a counter example to your statement, if my maintenance calories are 2000 per day and I eat steak/fish/chicken (note - no carbs) to the tune of 2500 calories per day, I will gain weight even tho I am not eating carbs.11 -

Is it correct that you joined 4 weeks ago? Have you lost those 15 pounds since then? What your doctor is suggesting is beyond unhealthy and irresponsible. It truly isn't even possible. That would require a 3500 calorie deficit per day, and your full TDEE can't even be that much. In other words, even if you didn't eat a crumb of food, 1 pound a day wouldn't happen.9 -

Exactly what I was wondering. The OP lacks context.5 -

I'm hoping OP is like 500lbs so the doctor is justified in saying she should lose a pound a day...
Shame she hasn't come back5 -
I have so many questions...7

Agree that you need a new Dr. for sure. 1lb a day is unreasonable. Did you say you are cutting out 1 mt dew a day, how many do you have a day?0
-
pretty much just meat and anything that's 100% fat.
I think your doctor is ridiculous...losing 1 Lb per day isn't really a thing...at least in regards to actual fat. I'd find another doctor.2 -

I think she only has 1 per day, but how big is it?0 -
A no carb diet would basically be meat. Did your doctor tell you to eat no carbs or did you decide to do that? If your doctor told you to eat no carbs, please get a new doctor. Some "weight loss clinics" engage in dangerous practices to be able to advertise incredible weight losses, regardless of negative health repercussions or rebounding. And if your doctor didn't tell you how to eat, please ask for more info from them. Also, if you aren't morbidly obese, losing 1lb per day is dangerous and probably not possible. Please take care of yourself :flowerforyou:3

Can I swap the cup of air for a cup of 21% o2?

Er... A steak and eggs? And water.
I assume this doc was not a cardiologist.4 -
I can't imagine any MD in the US who would suggest a pound a day loss, even for someone who is morbidly obese and has complications from it. That is dangerous and reckless and fails primum non nocere miserably. He or she should have their license to practice medicine revoked.6

I can not seriously believe that any doctor would recommend losing a pound a day. That is an eating nothing while exercising your butt off kind of loss. Not healthy nor really possible. Did you mishear what was said that the doctor made a responsible suggestion of a pound a week?4

This. Totally. Even my cancer patients don't lose a pound a day.3 -
Could you have misunderstood what your doctor said?6
-
go see a different doctor. it is not healthy for ANYONE to lose a pound a DAY
he probably meant a pound a WEEK, which is far more realistic.2 -
YouTube keto connect and Highfalutin' Low Carb. So funny8
