@garygse , @fitoverfortymom , @ctlaws44 , and @cameronheel -- are we all Scorpios? What a great group we are! Any others?
Interesting read regarding birth month...

@Elise4270 Hmm. I think that slight edge skipped me!1

I hit my 50 mile goal today almost a week early. I'm new at this so I wasn't sure what goal to set. Guess I'll increase that goal a bit next month.14

Alas, I was born in October. I know if I don't pay attention it seems I can gain weight 50 percent faster than most people. Not the attribute most want tho.

@WandaVaughn yes the Spooktacular. I haven't run it in a few years, and it was my PR 5K. I remember being so surprised when I PR'd I saw @Stoshew71 standing there and I was like OMG OMG I PR'd, he just laughed. I'll be like 10 minutes slower. Gotta get my speed back on here soon. Come to think of it @Stoshew71 was standing there when I PR'd my HM too, he took a picture of me ringing the PR gong, must be my good luck charm4

Last week was uninspired and I missed a run so I decided to repeat a week in the 15K plan I'm using to build my base before I start training for my April half marathon. Going to just miss my goal km unless I push a bit past my plan and I won't do that unless my legs feel really good.
I'm travelling for work and the weather is awful and it's dark by the time I'm done so I hauled myself down to the fitness center at the hotel last night and pushed out 5.5km on the treadmill. I decided I don't much care for treadmills.
I'm here to facilitate an audit (I provide remote QA support) and the auditors are staying at the same hotel as me. One of them saw me running last night and it came up in conversation today--mentioned I'm a new runner building up my base for a half marathon. "Oh? Which one?"
I found a kindred spirit--awesome. Although he's way ahead of me! I think he said 6 full marathons and 20-30 half marathons plus countless other races, some 100km relays, etc. And then we started talking about shoes...

Today's notes – Wednesday is normally a group run, but today that group is doing a Halloween themed scavenger hunt run. I'd rather run than do a scavenger hunt/puzzle with minor bits of running, so I set out for an easy run from home around 4 PM. Got ideal running weather, 55º F (13º C) with overcast skies and a pleasant westerly breeze. After yesterday's speed work, I wanted to pay attention to how hard I was running and keep this one easy.
I managed to stay in HR zone 1 or 2 the entire run. My HR did peak out at 140, the top of zone 2, near the top of the second little hill; I slowed down almost to a 10 minute pace briefly, and kept the HR out of zone X. Other than that, I was running pretty naturally, and with the ideal weather I had some time in zone 1 where my pace was closer to 7 than 8 minutes per mile. Stopped right when the watch autolapped the 7th mile, at 55:01 for an average pace of 7:51 per mile. Other than the fact that I barely made it to the rest room in time when I got done, it was a very pleasant run.

Thanks for cheers everyone on my family's race results! I need to get back to offer a few comments but totally swamped at work this week so reporting will have to do for now. At least I am checking in. Yesterday ran 4 mi and walked 1 mi (wimped out with the dark, rain, and cold and ran at the indoor track at the gym), today walked for an hour outside and did an intense stretching program and my PT. Need to get better about finding time for the PT exercises everyday! Had PT appointment for the foot and ankle yesterday (scraping, ultrasound, and H-wave) and for my hip tomorrow (probably some of the same) plus a follow up appointment with the sports doc tomorrow too. I was really on track for my 75 mi until last weekend and because of hosting the fun run didn't do my long run. Now it is going to be pushing it to get to my goal. Going to try to 5 or 6 tomorrow and see if it feels like I can push it until the end of the month.

Here is my actual running check in. Ran 6 miles around campus after work, felt a little sluggish, but it's done. Looking forward to running tomorrow morning!
I don't think I'll reach my goal this month, but considering I was sick for a week and then ran a half marathon, I'll be happy with my outcome.

Had a really great run today! 1.5 mile warm up; 5x1/2 mile repeats with ¼ mile recovery; 1 mile cool down. The original plan was to do the half miles around 3:45 (10K-ish pace), but I was feeling so great today that I decided on a progressive pacing strategy instead with each one faster than the one before. Splits were: 3:43, 3:40, 3:39, 3:36, 3:32. Looking forward to crushing it at my upcoming half marathon!
