Now see, I'm in the opposite situation. The gym at work is running a "Maintain, Don't Gain" challenge through the holidays, where you weigh in in November and weigh out in January. You're eligible for a prize if you maintain or lose through the T-day, Xmas, and New Year holidays. It is therefore to my benefit to be as heavy as possible to weigh in this week. Not that I did it on purpose, but the mystery 5 lbs I added last week -- probably water weight related to my beginning weight training -- will come in handy here!
See, if I ever get into a contest, I'm going major carbs the week or 2 before weigh in, counting at my loss rate for the contest period but with a couple of weeks left, switching to low carbs. Always going by what my calorie goal is, but seeing how much I can move the scale with glycogen & water weight.
But just for *kitten* and giggles. Have no idea WTF is going on here.2 -

Meh. Wasn't hard, and was twice as meaningful to me than faking my check in.
Neither one is meaningful. They're just two different ways to manipulate the number on the scale. At least leaning on the sink doesn't have you sitting on the toilet, sweating, and drinking nasty tea.7 -

Yup you will gain the rest soon enough. Hope you don't plan on continuing to abuse laxatives and diuretics. Neither are good for your help and will over time cause the same issues you are trying to avoid2

No you won't if you possess the intelligence and knowledge to know you need to maintain hydration when working outside on a hot day (as well as work/rest cycles but that's a whole 'nuther ball of wax) versus doing ones darnedest to become a heat stress/stroke victim.

I'm sort of assuming that the entire point of this post is the joy of consequence free online conflict. You clearly know that MFPers won't look favorably on this style of "weight loss" but described your efforts in great detail regardless.
At the end of the day we can hem haw and fuss at you, but it's your body, your goals, and your choice - but I'm sorry your "accountability situation" has you under so much pressure you admit to planning to cheat your weigh in and then decided a day of water weight torture was a better way to go.7 -

This sort of behavior is pretty common among people with bulimia. There's a name for it: laxative abuse. Laxative abuse is not the same as weight loss!
One time is not going to hurt you but it's a disturbing precedent to set, and it shows a really unhealthy attitude towards your weigh in. You know what doesn't matter? Making a weight loss goal on a particular day. You know what does matter? Learning a lifetime of taking care of yourself properly.7 -

I did what I did to be different from the masses who neither put dates on goals, nor set them in the first place. I hope you see the correlation to how many people quit and gain back again.

Nothing at stake, how do you know?
I realize the flock must be obeyed and followed at all cost, but a goal with a date is a big deal to some people. Even though I fell behind, I didn't want to miss my goal. Steaming off some pounds so the scale read that I met my goal was important to me, and the "success" actually helped me lose 3 legit pounds since then.2 -

You're just flat out cheating. How many people will purposely lose 10lbs of water weight to just make a weigh in seem good, then gain back the weight when drinking water and still THINK they did it right?
And there is no "detoxing" going on. You can't sweat out toxins that are non existent in the body.

Let’s hope no one does themselves serious harm following your lead. Why this hasn’t been deleted by forum moderators I really can’t fathom. You may have used this technique “successfully” and very carefully in the short term, but whether you intend to or not, you are certainly encouraging some MFP users to use laxatives for weight loss (regardless of how you describe your process, some will read 10 pounds in one day = sweat, don’t rehydrate fully, and take laxatives). Sounds dangerous if not deadly to me.6

Great job OP! Most weight I ever lost in a day was 7.8lbs. I was just curious to see how much weight I could lose in one day bc I had a horrible cheat day the day before. I didn’t take any laxatives tho. I fasted(omad) for 23hrs and during that time I did a 8 mile run outside(in July). Just drank minimal water. That’s it really.
INB4 vultures come...yes I know it was dumb blah blah blah! I was just curious. Pretty sure every person has at least tried this once in here.10
