      nah... they're different.

      Hanging onto the treadmill while it's on a steep incline is clearly cheating ( and for some reason a pet peeve of mine, I have no idea why).

      Anyway, using a spotter is a safety measure and I use a spotter when I have decided to take a set to failure.
      Using a spotter is far less embarrassing than getting pinned in a crowded gym.
