I felt so much better this morning. After weighing in at 130.0 on my weigh in day yesterday, I was back down to 127.2 this morning. I am still going to be very diligent this week so that I go into the holiday weekend at the low end of my maintenance range (125-129.9). I have a couple of "swimsuit vacations" coming up in Jan and Feb so I want to continue to be very mindful about my calorie intake for the next 7-8 weeks.5

Update: The day of my epidural was rough but I was feeling better yesterday. Still too early to know for sure, and the pain varies quite a bit anyway, but something "feels different" back there, so I am hopeful.7

I’m in the same position with the same mindset, @fitand50inSD. My husband is joining me on a cruise to the Western Caribbean in January - our first holiday together in almost 3 years! I want to have all the confidence I can muster, so being very mindful these next few weeks in preparation.
Where’s your vacations to?

Successes/ struggles: I dropped a bit low but I intentionally wanted to because of rehab and the fact that I am leaving for a holiday this week with my whole family and we tend to celebrate with food and drinks. It sets my mind at ease a bit. There are no scales, which is probably good and I fully expect that I will be back within range at the end of the week. To those of you celebrating: happy holidays. Thanks you all for being here and keeping me focused and inspired. I'll see you after the 29th!6 -

Successes of the week: I made maybe 3 good choices this week. They won't help me weight-wise, but I did try a little once in a while.
Challenges of the week: Two bingey days this week. Yesterday was over 4000 calories. I actually stopped logging, which I don't do. I feel sick this morning and disgusted with myself, and am afraid of facing the remaining holiday eating. The stupid thing is, it’s not just treats that are getting me. I keep giving myself permission to eat my regular foods on top of it, plus seconds and thirds of those. This behavior has been a problem for months now, and is only getting worse.
Mindful eating and being ok with time when I am not eating are so hard for me. I don't seem to want to be alone with myself. I just keep plugging in food for a distraction, and when I don't have it, I feel like I could just rattle myself apart from the tension of it all. Living with the tension has always been harder for me than living with the aftermath. “I might fail” is somehow worse than “I did fail.” I have always been like this, and I neither know why nor how to let it be ok to have that tension. I think that is my next step in my journey, to deal with the emotional issues in my eating. I have CICO down. It's the nuts and bolts of the driving forces behind my choices that need work.

Struggles/successes of the week:
Better week. Running felt stronger. Didn’t over eat or under eat. Didn’t over exercise nor skip a workout! I know my monthly average is going to be up from November’s monthly. But I keep telling myself it’s still down from my maintenance goal and it probably wasn’t fat that those weeks where I was 125 and 127.5. But the fear of gaining it all back is so consuming. Blah. But today I will just be happy for 122 and keep working to keep it at that.8 -

Successes/struggles: It took me two flights, 25 hours and -7 hours jet lag to get back home for Christmas! But I’m so happy! But I’ve been feeling sleepy at weird hours and the house is full of tasty Holiday foods. So far I’ve been pretty good with my eating and exercise, but I’ve decided that for the next 3 days I’m going to just enjoy all the holiday food. Just have to make sure to get back on track afterwards. HAPPY HOLIDAYS EVERYONE!!!6 -

Success/struggles of the week: I had a really tough negotiation on my plate this week - one that my boss had deemed hopeless to complete by end of year... well, the supplier and I worked after hours every night this week and presented my boss with a proposal for a contract that he simply couldn’t refuse! He was sincerely impressed with the concessions and overall fairness of the deal... and surprised that I went above and beyond to get it done when he had absolutely set the expectation that we could table it until January.
On the flip side - My car was deemed totaled from the accident last Friday, so unexpectedly going car shopping today. I negotiate stuff for a living, so I am kinda getting myself all hyped up to negotiate something for my own benefit. We will see how it turns out!7 -

Success/struggles of the week/month: 12 weeks in. I guess my success this week has been that even though I am not able to run, I have been able to walk and it's been really interesting to see that my TDEE is NOT significantly different without the jogging!!! WOWWWWW!!! That's eye opening. TDEE at 1850. I think it means that for me the whole eat your exercise calorie thing back might be inflated somewhat. Trend looks down but it's COLD and honestly my scale seems to weigh a lot lighter when it's really cold and dry out. Hopefully it will flatten out. I am still playing with intake increases and the rate of loss at this point is leveling out nicely.. I am also cautiously optimistic that I will be able to get back to running again soon - miss those endorphins and the "feel" of it.4 -

Success/struggles of the week: Last week when we were on vacation, I basically ate whenever everyone else was eating, plus my usual evening snacks, which I am in the habit of always having. I tried to log, but that’s tough when you’re at restaurants eating foods you’re not accustomed to eating (“Excuse me, Monsieur, how many calories are in this terrine de foie gras?”) I’ve always been terrible at estimating weights for logging purposes (“OK, let’s see, that looks like about 8g of bacon. Or is it 18? Eh, call it 8 and I’ll have two!”) (Usually I do try to weigh at home on a digital scale.) That, and I often forget how many French fries I've nibbled off of my kids’ plates. (I only took two, right? Riiiight! Lol). Now we are home so I’m happy that even though it’s Christmas I can at least log with some degree of accuracy so I’m not completely ignorant of how many calories of wine and cookies I’m indulging in, haha. Last night we went out for dinner as part of the Christmas celebration and I banked calories all day. I’m not unhappy that even though I ate more than I planned, it was worth it. That evening I simply ate a smaller bedtime snack. We have another dinner out at a restaurant tonight, but it’s not a place that’s super special to me with any food I’m craving, so I plan to eat lightly, like seafood and salad. Tomorrow is Christmas, of course, and I’m planning to have a few treats in small portions, which I’ve already logged.
Exercise-wise, I’m thrilled to be back at the gym and running outside. It’s an invigorating way to shake off winter cabin fever.
Merry Christmas everyone!!!4 -

Success/struggles of the week:
- I actually managed to go for a purposeful walk. It was only the once and only about half hour long. But it felt really good. Much better than pacing my living room.
- Food wise, I'm feeling a bit bored. I don't exactly know why, coz we have a lot of variety. This week on some occasions I just couldn't be bothered.
- The kids being off school has had its ups and downs. Only because of them being unwell which leads to sleepless nights. For this reason we haven't been getting fresh air much, which has an effect on my overall mood and wanting to do well.
We are entering our last weigh-in for 2017. I am a little excited and have some pride in that I've managed to a least maintain at an acceptable weight. I hope that I can complete the year well and give myself a positive start for the New Year.
I hope everyone is feeling happy with your hard work you've put in through the last year. Because you all played a big role and were a massive support, inspiration and motivation to me and others when needed.7 -

Success/struggles of the week: enjoying the joy and novelty of maintaining my weight. And because 'tis the season to be jolly, I have put in extra effort to pursue some of the traditional foods that I often haven't bothered with in recent years: like turkey, stuffing, mincemeat tarts, etc. Am still kind of astonished that it's possible to eat a lot of good food without penalty. Success / struggles of the week : my weight has gone up again, that doesn't make me too happy, but i know why this is happening. I will try to limit my nightly snacks to counteract the extra food i eat. Holidays are wonderful and special, my children are home on breaks, and this time is truly priceless. So i enjoy maybe a bit too much, but kids being home, holiday cooking that packs extra calories is a temporary thing after all, and i will return to normal soon. Not much time to exercise, but i did manage to ride a couple of times anyway. Can't wait for longer days, i will have more chances to ride. Got fitbit for Christmas, setting it up and will give it a try, very excited about it.9 -

This is my final update of 2017. I've been here since January and posted every week except 2 weeks when I was on vaca and away from scales. I'm maintaining for about 14-15 months, something I've never done before in my life. I've creeped up a couple pounds the last 2 months, which I initially thought was water weight from something, but obviously it has stayed with me. So I will be working in Jan & Feb to scoot that back down where I prefer. It is a great feeling to know that I've accomplished this major goal. I finally am beginning to feel that portion control and exercise/activity is becoming part of the fabric of who I am. It has been a long long journey to get to this point, and I feel I am truly committed to keeping these things front and center in my life. I appreciate all those who have shared part of this journey with me!

PS-It's too late to edit my post, so today I achieved 10 Million Steps on my Fitbit! It took about 3 1/2 years. Based on daily averages, I estimate that it previously took me 15-20 years to get that many steps. It sounds crazy, but Seriously!8

As you all know, I don't do the weekly "tree". I did start the month at 116# ,then went down to 115# for a couple of weeks. So, I went to visit my kids/grands for Christmas and, oops, lost 2 pounds. Weighed in this morning at 113#. That puts me 5# underweight. I didn't eat much on the road - 2 days @ 9 hours. Really only ate two meals/day since most was eating out. I did manage to exercise each day. I guess I can eat a bit more for a couple of days to "catch up." Lots of snow here so no running. Hello elliptical.

How long in maintenance: I'm not sure I'd actually call it maintainance as I'm still slowly losing...set my calories higher on Sept. 25th
Maintenance weight range: 145 - 150 lbs (Revised range as of 12/18)
Average for October 2017: 146.2
Average for November 2017: 143.4
Week of Dec 3rd: 141.8, 142.4 trend
Week of Dec 10th 140.4, 141.9 trend
Week of Dec 17th 140.2, 141.0 trend
Week of Dec 24th 141.4, 141.2 trend
Week of Dec 31st:
Successes: My weight is pretty stable. Today I was back down to 140.4. Trend says I'm "gaining", did an upwardly move mid - weekend, then kinda stablized. Supposively to gain 8lbs as I'm going now, it will take until April 21, 2020. So I'm not worried I'm suprised I managed this during Christmas break.
Struggles: It was Christmas weekend and I was off for 5 days from work. I baked 3 kinds of cookies Friday/Saturday and I'm pretty sure I ate 1/2 of them...LOL I'm taking a "logging break" until Jan. 2nd, so who really knows how many calories I did take in. Yikes. My mom made and brought "lemon squares" which are my major weakness. Pretty sure I'll end up looking like one.
I made a salad for lunch today because I was so tired of heavy food, cookies, chocolates and crap. But it's 1 degree Farenheit here outside and our onsite cafe is serving Chicken and Wild Rice Soup for lunch. I may need to partake.
I hope all your holiday's were great, however you celebrate. I'm looking forward to getting back to "normal life", if only our temps could normalize. These lows in Ohio are rare.5 -
Ugh, this week is not going well. I’m doing the opposite of what I want to do—I’m eating even more unplanned food than last week on vacation and the holidays. I’m not even measuring because I don’t want to know or don’t care. I’m mindlessly nibbling off my kids’ plates, while I’m cooking, and when I’m not even hungry. Why is it that when it’s time to tighten up on logging, my other self rebels and tries to do the exact opposite?7

We are both having that kind of week! Don't worry. It will be over soon and we can tighten back up until Valentine's Day! In the meantime, try to make an effort to _enjoy_ what you are eating. I find that is the worst of it. The mindless snatch-and-grab-full-on-Gollum compulsion, sucking down calories at warp speed and forgetting to enjoy them.
We need to give ourselves permission to do that. (I can do it for splurge meals, but multiple days in a row are still hard for me.)2 -

Wise words! I’ll try to enjoy the food. It is not pleasant to frenetically gobble down food like a crazy person.
