I'm not stressing, I'm not regaining, I know that it will come.
So true! I actually regained some due to health issues. Yet I'm pretty Zen about it.
Weight loss is a given and will come when I'm back in a frame of mind and health where I can keep a consistent deficit.
BOOM! Such wise and powerful (FULL of power) winners you two are--I LOVE it!4 -
Hi all,
After going from 158 to this mornings weight of 142.6 - 15 pounds lost at 5ft4in tall, I have learned these new things:
-cold, all the time. even when I'm home in Florida
-my arms fall asleep a lot more when I'm sleeping on my sides or even my back at night
-when I put my hands on my hips, I don't have a love handle to grab onto anymore (discovered that today)
-my belly button looks waaaayyy different
-i have adjusted to the new way my stomach looks and believe I'm still looking chunky (i am not chunky)
-your family will not understand your diet and the new lifestyle you have chosen
-fruits and veggies are damn good
-the binge is never worth the swelling and bloating14 -
How *kitten* you'll feel when family members don't comment on your weight loss (down 25 lbs).
Try not to take stuff like that personally! I have a lot of amazingly sensitive people in my life who will never comment on my weight because they’re so aware that weight can come off unintentionally due to stress or sickness and intentionally through disordered methods. I know them not saying anything is just their way of saying they hope I’m healthy and how I look doesn’t matter to them. Talking to people one on one about your effort and positive changes is so much better. Congratulations on 25, btw!18 -

There's a limit. Met one person who hadn't seen me in over a year and finally had to ask if she was hitting on me, as she wouldn't stop about how much I've lost. Had lunch with another friend who noticed but didn't make a big deal of it. Nice to be mentioned and then move on.9 -

Exactly. I love the "you look great!" and that's it comments because I can say thank you but the one's that make me uncomfortable say things like "you've lost a lot of weight", "wow you got skinny". I can't say anything to that, I want to walk away from you lol And once I mention I still want to lose 20lbs I get "omg you're going to be skin and bones!". No. I'm still overweight, leave me alone.20 -

I hear this! I even plan out what I'm going to say the next time someone makes a comment, but for some reason it's always the most awkward exchange hahaha. I don't understand why!!

I've learned that if you decide to lose weight because your insecure about the way you look, you still have to make a conscious effort to build self esteem and try to be confident in your own skin. Losing fat doesn't automatically make you confident. I'm basically to my goal weight and still fixate hard on my flaws. I have been taking my measurements and using an online calculator to estimate my body fat % for months with the goal of falling into the "fitness" range. I finally made it and it was bitter sweet. My fist thought was "awesome!! Finally!!!.....but I'm still fat so this thing is obviously inaccurate!" My next goal is to fall into the "athlete" category but hopefully I can try to work on being happy with myself in the meantime.34

Finally got to page 137 (currently half way through the thread). I’m 55 lbs down (sw 288) and it might take me a few more weeks to get caught up lol
I love looking at my body changing in the mirror. I can see bones coming through and changes everywhere.
Adding more weight at the gym lifting makes me feel great.
Trying to pick up a 50lb free weight is hard and I was carrying that every minute of every day.
When you’re really motivated, even Christmas won’t get in the way of your goals.

During this holiday season I had a few people comment on my weight loss. Since I don't want to engage in any in-depth conversations about it, I just agree and deflect. For instance:
They say: Hey azironasun, have you lost weight?
With a chuckle, I say: Well, my wardrobe was getting tight and I'm not ready to buy a new one. BTW, this is a great dinner. Did you make everything from scratch?
They say: Azironasun, you've lost weight. How much have you lost?
I say: I don't go by the scale. I go by how my clothes are fitting. BTW, is that a new shirt? It looks great.
If they persist and ask what diet I'm on, I just say, "Move more. Eat less." then, deflect.
This approach makes these interactions much less uncomfortable.

How angry/jealous people who you thought loved and wanted the best for you get. I have lost 43 lbs and I plan on losing around 100 more and I have friends that specifically try to get me to mess up my diet or tell me I have lost enough - and it's not like I'm small and I really have lost too much - I'm still obese.27

FYI, they're not your friends. True friends want you to be healthy, both physically and mentally. If you are unhappy and/or unhealthy at your current weight, they should be supportive of your goals. In life, you can drive your car, or be the passenger. Sounds like you have decided to drive your car. Kick any unwanted passengers to the curb27 -

While jealousy may be something to consider, I strongly believe it's just human nature to not like change. When your friend looks different (that takes some mental adjustment) and on top of that, no longer participates in food rituals that have been part of the relationship for years, it's jarring and feels like something as reliable as a friendship is being threatened. I would not feel bitter about people being people and would just give them some time to adjust to the change, both aesthetic and behavioral. If it doesn't work, it doesn't work. It's nobody's fault that relationships change and not all of them survive. It is what it is.
I have lost a couple of friends, sadly, because they became moms. I'm not jealous, I don't want children, other mom friends are still my friends, it's just in these particular cases the relationship changed too much. What we do, what we talk about, how we behave, it was just too different and no longer the same. We drifted apart.39 -
How often people would ask how i did it, then suggest other diets, then proceed to lecture me on the dangers of yoyo dieting as if i havent been losing weight and preparing for maitenance for the last five months. -.-12

This is a great way to look at things. I can't write people off that easily, but I have also had a great deal of support from most of the people in my life. There were a few that would never comment or tell me to stop losing weight that I was too skinny. They got used to the new me though and all is good. I took it personally at first, but realized it was more on them than me.7 -
You don't need to see a doctor when you feel huge bulges when you put your hands on your waist, I was informed it was just my obliques! Ha!19

That digging through the trash to find the wedding ring that slipped off while drying your hands becomes less and less fun.14
