What nobody tells you about losing weight

Getting my mind to match my new body size. It took several weeks before I walked in to my closet and would not have that miserable "I can't fit in or feel comfortable in anything" feeling.11

Thanks @youdoyou2016 and @mangrothian!
Yes the hunger is REAL! lol I'm 5'8", 140lbs. I gave myself a bit of wiggle room weight wise just for situations like this. lol
I have a Fitbit Challenger 2 that has been seemingly pretty accurate with gauging my heart rate.. the readings are comparable to what you mentioned.. maybe I will check out a chest HRM as well.. are they generally more accurate than wrist?
YES!! I need more experimentation with post run snacks... some type of appetite "suppressor"!! Lol I've started saving more calories for the evening when I've been my hungriest as well and will see if this levels out.
About chest vs wrist HRM: I think it depends on how snug the wrist strap is. They tend to be too big for me, so I use the chest strap. Reddit has a pretty good running sub where folks discuss these types of things all the time. Some people are pretty amazing -- running is really their thing, or they are top university track coaches, so they experiment and do reviews and then share them on the sub. I'd check them out.5 -

[*] Your mind really holds onto what you looked like before. I can't tell you how many times I've been surprised by the person looking back in the mirror at me. Or thinking that shirt is going to show my rolls only to have it be perfectly fine when I put it on. I don't know when the mental catches up but I bet you it's a big part of the reason people put pounds back on. You still feel like the fat girl.
I think this is a big one.
little back story:
3 years ago I was about 125lbs and in great shape. I'm currently in the 160s and in not that great of shape and trying very hard to get back to my 125 wt/frame
Even at 125...I still though I was Fat. as sad as it is, I feel like the feeling of being the "fat girl" never really goes away9 -
@HappyCampr1 you're so right about that ! I'm also careful now not knowing whose on the journey to better health and transformation in not to judge them as I previously would do because of of what I would see just in front of me. Humbling lesson for me but true.10

- Some ex bf talk you again "just to catch up".
- Suddenly you stop being "the funny friend". Now, attention you just weren't used to have can be overwhelming, or at least it was for me. Guys hugging me made me uncomfortable and I had a bad experience with a friend that tried to take advantage at me while sleeping.
- Sex is better because you have more energy and you can do stuff you couldn't before.
- I didn't have my period for about two years, it appeared again and became regular as I started losing weight.
- Sometimes you feel like you still being fat, it's a mental process too, I recommend getting psychological therapy, it helps a lot.21 -
I don't have much to contribute right now but before I joined MFP I had just gotten to the point of being able to feel and see my abdominal pulse regularly again (especially while lying down) and it really freaked me out before I looked it up! My grandfather narrowly avoided a hemorrhage in the area (detected in time) so I thought I was about to die for a little there. Don't be like me it's completely normal.12

positives
-Being able to buy clothes in a normal shop. The feeling I had when I had to go into a tall & fat shop was mortifying.
-better sex
-buying smaller sized jeans
-peoples comments on how well you are looking
-feeling fitter and motivated to continue the push to lose weight.
- Not as many unknown aches and pains
- not feeling as if everyone is watching my flabby bits wobble around when trying to work out. (still have sme flabby bits but now I just don't care)
- Having a bad day at work is usually forgotten once I have hit 5K at the gym and I feel much more relaxed for the rest of the day
Negatives
-Buying smaller sized jeans then realisisng that they now fall of you and you have to buy some more new ones. (matalan and primark are now my shop of choice)
- seeing your loved ones getting aches and pains that you used to get and them not knowing why. You try and tell them that the gym will help get rid of those but you end up being told that you are obsessed with the gym and you don't want to nag as that sometimes puts people off.

I've had dreams that I binged on food -- I have to make sure my pillow didn't go missing when I wake up...21 -
I've felt more confident and outgoing lately. Also not feeling so lethargic -- more apt to respond positively to requests to help with physical work.16

How the mind can play tricks on you ...
I'll get on the scale and see 162 and feel so sad, disappointed, defeated ... And then after a second or two kind of "snap out of it" and look again to see 126. I haven't been in the 160's for over a year. This happens to me often. It certainly does take a while for the brain to catch up ...26 -
you might have to relearn how to tie your shoes/boots to alleviate hot spots because your feet/ankles are a different shape with less cushioning7

that you would stop caring what people thought about your flabby arms and wear tank tops anyway.41

I'm the opposite. Since I learned portion control and that I don't need to cut anything from my diet, I'm much more tolerant in my thoughts of other people. I also don't automatically assume that overweight people aren't actively doing something about it, That 250 pound lady? Maybe she used to be 350 pounds. You just don't know here people are in their journey and MFP has opened my eyes and made me much less judgemental.
This! I'm currently at 259 but I was at 477 but I know many people assume that I'm just this fat dude eating away his life. It's not the case and I try not to let it bother me but it surely affects how I eat in public. If I have a cheat day , it's at home because I don't want to see the judging eyes when I tuck into my "treat."

In the beginning skin will sag where fat once was, but that is a type of fat under the skin causing this, visceral fat is the last to go, stubborn, and sagging will go away and flatten back when the more stubborn visceral fat beneath it is gone.26

It is easier to balance less weight. Agility improves.13

I hadn't made the link. There's a pair of shoes I absolutely love but they don't seem to be comfy anymore. I'll have to play around with the tying since they started chaffing in unusual places.6 -
How judgmental and weird my brain would be (in terms of what seems light) when I see the number on the scale. For some reason the 212.6 I saw this morning seems worlds lighter than 213 was. Then again that could also just be that I'm finally losing from my lowest weight again after the holiday stall and water weight gain.22

Interesting thing, "actual" handicapped people assume that I use the handicapped stall to accomodate my size when in actuality I need the extra height due to my knees. Respect goes both ways, it's rough, if you walk into the stall that doesn't mean you don't struggle.34 -

I wouldn't call myself "agile" by any stretch of the imagination, but I've noticed that my balance is improving... I'm clumsy and trip often (or used to, anyway!), but the last couple of times I did that I was able to catch my balance fairly easily and just stumble rather than fall. And if I am on the floor for any reason - sitting, or kneeling to reach something, etc. - I rarely struggle to get up again now.
Also I hate walking in winter because I always seem to slip a lot on the ice, but that hasn't happened much so far! (Keeping fingers crossed... )9
