I was eating a whole LOT of "humble pie" yesterday, I mean A LOT--so GRATEFUL, so thankful it was ALL calorie free. W W, walking "the walk" vs. "talking the talk" and practicing what one "preaches" in the midst of trial(s) and temptations is a lot like heavy lifting and squats and this weight loss quest--it can be and is sooooo hard sometimes, but like the old saying(s) go "what don't kill you will make you stronger" and no pain, no gain too, "pain is temporary, Victory is FOREVER" and one of my all time favorites..."losing weight is a mind game, change your mind, change your body"!11

Getting a size MEDIUM shirt from wife for Christmas and IT FITS!
(I had asked for a Large, I told her I was getting rid of all my XXL and XL after losing-188, I now weigh 188# half my SW of 376!)27 -
I went to dinner with a friend who’s background on her computer is the two of us on a trip from about 2 years ago and her boyfriend made a comment about how much Weight I’ve lost, never expected him to notice. My mom also got me a couple of gift cards instead of new bras and sports gear because she figured I’d be down a size by the time Christmas came around plus a ring I’d picked out a couple of months ago from a local jeweler for Christmas which was a little tight is now lose on some fingers!
Also, I’ve always had really soft and weak hands and from the weights And grips to keep the plates on the bar my hands are even getting stronger, the grips are easier to slide on the bar, and now I have some of those little callouses on my hands! I’m toughening up!9 -
Reading all the comments about how people start running/jogging/"plodding", I got inspired and today, when our family (my hubby, kids and I) went for a long walk along a river from one park to another, I decided to try jogging and see how far I can go. I really planned to run just 200 steps, then 1000, then... I jogged the whole distance between the parks, the entire 3.5 km (slightly more than 2 miles) without stopping once!!! and I felt like I could have continued for a longer distance...
I don't know where this endurance came from. Probably from a year of dancing Zumba on almost a daily basis.. I was just amazed at myself, at what I can do now! By the way, my current weight is 205 lb, which is down 65 lb from the starting point 10 months ago.
Two days ago I decided to repeat the experience, to confirm that it wasn't a fluke. And it wasn't! I was able to go farther (4 km instead of 3.5) and faster (8 min per km instead of 9 min per km last time). My husband was proud of me, and so was I16 -
With Christmas falling on a Monday which is my usual zumba day, I decided to get to the gym on Tuesday so I wouldn't miss a day. Unfortunately, there wasn't a class scheduled so I hopped on the treadmill for the first time since April. My husband surprised me with a Fitbit for Christmas so I really wanted to try it out. I managed to go for 5,000 steps in 20 mins.20

I've been really bummed recently because I'm injured and haven't been able to run or even walk much. I was at the podiatrist today and he was taping my ankle. I was asking him how the tape works and he mentioned that it's weight dependent, then said "so for example, because you're lighter than most people I don't have to use as much tape." Took me a second. Me? Lighter than most people? Proud moment for this eternal (before last year) fat kid.24

I hadn’t been wearing my wedding ring because it was so loose. Not quite falling off, but constantly spinning and it was driving me nuts. It was a size 7, took it to get resized today and got it back a size 6, and it’s perfect!! A whole size down!16

I wore just shorts and a sports bra to hot yoga today! I had never dreamed of wearing something like that in public even when I was more fit before. I can tell that I am becoming more confident in myself21

Today I skateboarded about 9 miles. It felt amazing to be able to actually go that far. I usually skate about 3 miles to get a bit of exercise and fun in after work, but today I was like screw it, I’ll just skate all the way home. It took about an hour and twenty minutes, but it was well worth it. Got some flatbread pepperoni pizza and a beer afterward with a good friend. All fitting within my calories. I’m almost hitting the one year point in my diet. I’ve lost 80 lbs and am actually having fun again. It was a good day day of self reflection.42

After being stuck at bench pressing 75 lbs for the longest time, I've gone up in weights twice since eating at maintenance - now lifting 95. I think it's not a coincidence and eating a little more over the holidays is improving my strength training.17

Did my first half hour run/ jog, 4.5 km26

It's really cool when you can make those direct cause-and-effect links. Also, congratulations on getting to maintenance!8 -
Saw my cousin for the first time since losing weight. He hugged me and was so shocked that he could reach his arms all the way around me he even had room to hug my husband as well.
Also I told my trainer my 2018 goals. One of them was to start bench pressing (the previous posts reminded me!). He said, well that we can start today! So, NSV is that one of my 2018 goals is already done22 -
Just came back from my Christmas vacation with family. All my aunts and uncles were shocked at how I looked. One of my uncles said, " wow! so now you are smaller than your niece in high school" Everyone kept asking how I did it. I usually weigh myself daily but I took a break for my vacation and finally weighed myself yesterday. Before I traveled I was at 143.5lb and yesterday I was down to my lowest weight at 142.5lb. My NSV: I chose not to keep track of dinners from all the holiday parties I attended since December 1st and during my Christmas vacation. I wanted to eat and enjoy myself without overindulging. I tried various wines and ate food from different cultures. All that good eating was absolutely worth it. I 'm happy I could still relax from calorie counting for the holidays and I still didn't gain any weight!21

Finally ditched the bra strap extenders!!!30

Got a size medium running shirt for Christmas; the tag says the fit is supposed to "skim the body" and wonder of wonders, IT DOES.22

Well, I kinda fell off the wagon in December. Heck, I fell off and was then ran over by the wagon. However I only missed exercising two days in the entire month and despite the temp never getting above -16 recently, I walked, skiied, or snowshoed for at least an hour every day over the Christmas holiday. My visitors have left and I'm back to work and my regular routine tomorrow. Looking forward to it30

What is "NSV"? Is there a spot on here that tells what abbreviations mean?

My Y is on break between regular class sessions, but putting on some special Christmas break classes. Yesterday, I went to an evening spin class, with some new and unfamiliar students.
After class, one fit-looking young woman, probably at at least 30 years my junior, who'd said it was her first spin class - complete stranger to me - came up to me and said "you are amazing" . . . which I'm not, but it still felt good.
I can only assume that she thought the li'l ol' lady (I'm 62) was going to be slow.27 -
i hold my back and can feel my protruding shoulder bones, last time they re not so sharp lol11

I ran for 15 minutes without stopping today, and burned over 500 calories at the gym!27

Consistently exercising during the holiday season.16

I joined a gym yesterday and actually WENT today! I lost over 100 lbs this past year by eating at a deficit and I want to continue to lose and get stronger!50

I am doing a C25K after a year of not running and despite having just run two days in a row (only 11 minutes each, but still) I find myself on a rest day and *wanting* to run but I have to stick to the program. I missed the feeling of wanting to run.23

My reading glasses keep falling off my face! Everyone at Christmas remarked about my face being so thin and that I looked good!19

I was meeting with a fairly new client earlier this month. When he asked me how long I’ve been with my company for and I said “a decade”, he was shocked and told me I don’t look a day over 23! Woohoo. He also couldn’t believe I’m a mom of three. I walked out feeling totally fabulous.24
