I've taken a break from tracking food during holiday travel, and I can feel that I've added some weight over the last 2 weeks.
BUT--I just ran my fastest 10K ever! It's my Christmas present to myself.27 -
Merry Christmas all you victorious people!
I have a couple. Last Saturday I went to a Christmas concert with my family - I had a new outfit and really dressed up for once, something I rarely do. Stuck my head in to the ladies' when we arrived to see if my makeup had survived the trip (I'm not used to wearing much makeup) and the performers were in there getting ready. One of them waved her hands at me and said "Well you don't need to check yourself, you look beautiful!" Then I ran into a friend and she said I looked beautiful. Then a total stranger complimented my outfit. Later we went out to eat and our waitress said I had beautiful eyes. That's four random compliments in one evening! I did feel really good and obviously it showed in my face and attitude.
Last night we finally finished the last of our Christmas and grocery shopping. Last year I was in the hospital right before Christmas having surgery, and wasn't able to drive, so I didn't do any shopping except online, and not much of that. But I remember Christmas shopping the year before. It was freezing temps and I was wearing a coat, and I would get overheated walking around stores. I complained to my husband that all the stores kept the heat up too high, and my husband, who is usually the most patient and supportive person, came as close as he has ever come to criticizing me about my weight: "It's not hot in here, it's you being so out of shape!" He was right, I was panting and red faced and kept having to sit down from just walking around a little bit. We had to cut our shopping short before we were finished because I got tired. This year I felt like a completely different person - I didn't even notice how much walking we were doing until I thought about what it used to be like. Everything that used to be hard was now easy.37 -
Merry Christmas to all! I've been hovering around 14 lbs down for a little while and asked my husband if he thought that I was still making progress even though the scale doesn't really show it. He said that yes, he meant to tell me earlier that my face was looking razor sharp!15

Went out for a christmas BBQ today (weird but yum lol)
Ate WAY to much. And honestly i fully intend to keep eating way to much even though...
I realized I dont feel good eating alot. I dont enjoy losing the control. Id really like to be able to be around buffet style (especially sweets) and not go wild losing control. I have realized this before. BUT. My NSV is that i now for the first time feel like i CAN manage. I have a really good year planned. I have the tools needed to accomplish goals. The year is planned to revolve around mental/physical health goals. The realization that i dont enjoy overeating feels different this time around. Instead of just *kitten* my calories are screwed its actually wow i actually am not enjoying this even being okay with over eating it doesnt feel good. I will enjoy it while it lasts but even as its happening im like- When can i end and begin my amazing year!
I cant wait to practice my self love health habits IT will be nice to focus on making ME happy vs just losing weight16 -

Heard that. Been eating and enjoying all the Christmas food. A little of this - a little of that - haven't gone wild on anything. Also haven't logged most of it because that would be a WAG, anyway.
Still, I was thinking ahead - "On Tuesday, you can get back to logging everything and stop all this nibbling." HAHA!

Yesterday I completed 10 weeks without eating processed sugar and feel so much better for it. I feel less bloated, my stomach feels like it goes in rather than out and my weight in down by 24 lbs. It's a great way to start Christmas.21

Christmas Eve yesterday and I had to run a couple errands before getting ready to host 30 people at my house... in years past I would have been sipping wine and lounging about... instead in between errands I went to the gym. When I came home all sweaty my kids were laughing at me..... “ times.. they are achangin” lol24

I am recovering much faster and better than expected from a recent surgery. My surgeon and trainer both said that it was because I am so used to working out---my body is used to healing itself.30

Losing this much boob may not sound like a NSV to most, but I've always hated my large breasts and the attention they brought. I'm simply over the moon to be approaching "sporty boobs" territory.
* And yes, I know cupsize is a determined by band to bust ratio.21 -
I was eating a whole LOT of "humble pie" yesterday, I mean A LOT--so GRATEFUL, so thankful it was ALL calorie free. W W, walking "the walk" vs. "talking the talk" and practicing what one "preaches" in the midst of trial(s) and temptations is a lot like heavy lifting and squats and this weight loss quest--it can be and is sooooo hard sometimes, but like the old saying(s) go "what don't kill you will make you stronger" and no pain, no gain too, "pain is temporary, Victory is FOREVER" and one of my all time favorites..."losing weight is a mind game, change your mind, change your body"!11

Getting a size MEDIUM shirt from wife for Christmas and IT FITS!
(I had asked for a Large, I told her I was getting rid of all my XXL and XL after losing-188, I now weigh 188# half my SW of 376!)29 -
I went to dinner with a friend who’s background on her computer is the two of us on a trip from about 2 years ago and her boyfriend made a comment about how much Weight I’ve lost, never expected him to notice. My mom also got me a couple of gift cards instead of new bras and sports gear because she figured I’d be down a size by the time Christmas came around plus a ring I’d picked out a couple of months ago from a local jeweler for Christmas which was a little tight is now lose on some fingers!
Also, I’ve always had really soft and weak hands and from the weights And grips to keep the plates on the bar my hands are even getting stronger, the grips are easier to slide on the bar, and now I have some of those little callouses on my hands! I’m toughening up!9 -
Reading all the comments about how people start running/jogging/"plodding", I got inspired and today, when our family (my hubby, kids and I) went for a long walk along a river from one park to another, I decided to try jogging and see how far I can go. I really planned to run just 200 steps, then 1000, then... I jogged the whole distance between the parks, the entire 3.5 km (slightly more than 2 miles) without stopping once!!! and I felt like I could have continued for a longer distance...
I don't know where this endurance came from. Probably from a year of dancing Zumba on almost a daily basis.. I was just amazed at myself, at what I can do now! By the way, my current weight is 205 lb, which is down 65 lb from the starting point 10 months ago.
Two days ago I decided to repeat the experience, to confirm that it wasn't a fluke. And it wasn't! I was able to go farther (4 km instead of 3.5) and faster (8 min per km instead of 9 min per km last time). My husband was proud of me, and so was I15 -
With Christmas falling on a Monday which is my usual zumba day, I decided to get to the gym on Tuesday so I wouldn't miss a day. Unfortunately, there wasn't a class scheduled so I hopped on the treadmill for the first time since April. My husband surprised me with a Fitbit for Christmas so I really wanted to try it out. I managed to go for 5,000 steps in 20 mins.20

I've been really bummed recently because I'm injured and haven't been able to run or even walk much. I was at the podiatrist today and he was taping my ankle. I was asking him how the tape works and he mentioned that it's weight dependent, then said "so for example, because you're lighter than most people I don't have to use as much tape." Took me a second. Me? Lighter than most people? Proud moment for this eternal (before last year) fat kid.24

I hadn’t been wearing my wedding ring because it was so loose. Not quite falling off, but constantly spinning and it was driving me nuts. It was a size 7, took it to get resized today and got it back a size 6, and it’s perfect!! A whole size down!16

I wore just shorts and a sports bra to hot yoga today! I had never dreamed of wearing something like that in public even when I was more fit before. I can tell that I am becoming more confident in myself21

Today I skateboarded about 9 miles. It felt amazing to be able to actually go that far. I usually skate about 3 miles to get a bit of exercise and fun in after work, but today I was like screw it, I’ll just skate all the way home. It took about an hour and twenty minutes, but it was well worth it. Got some flatbread pepperoni pizza and a beer afterward with a good friend. All fitting within my calories. I’m almost hitting the one year point in my diet. I’ve lost 80 lbs and am actually having fun again. It was a good day day of self reflection.42

After being stuck at bench pressing 75 lbs for the longest time, I've gone up in weights twice since eating at maintenance - now lifting 95. I think it's not a coincidence and eating a little more over the holidays is improving my strength training.17
